Nice demo 😁 I would agree the V2 & V3 are different animals. That's why I am learning to use both at the same time and EVERYTHING changes between high & low frequency coils and machines. But OMG once dialed in they are like ground vacuum cleaners 🤣 I'm amazed at the amount of hits I am getting, even after watching another metal detectorist trawl a beach for hours with his fancy new Minelab 😮 Maybe he didn't want the coinage? 🤔
The more I see and here you talk about these machines the more I want one.I work in EXTREME rubbish and removing it on the surface helps but just as much if not more is in the ground.I use nokta and deus one and two detectors 😊for this task , but they can't do what that machine seems to do,they are good but any edge no matter how small is worth having
Thanks for the very informative videos Paul. I must admit I’ve been guilty of buying a nexus many years ago and not putting the time in and getting very frustrated with it. I always said I’d come back to it one day and feel the time is right to elevate the enjoyment from the hobby through learning the nexus. The V3 looks to be very good especially with the new style shafts and coils. The older style shaft was never quite long enough for me being 6ft 5 so I’m hoping the new telescopic shaft will be more accommodating. Just one question please Paul, how does the nexus V3 perform in stubble please? Would I need to over compensate and run the GB slightly more positive so the coil doesn’t sound off when brushing through the stubble? Thank you - Iain
Hi Iain like anything worth learning it does take time to master the Nexus but for me that was part of the fun. Nexus performs best with the coil swung a few inches off the ground, this depends on both coil size and ground conditions. The machine will tell you what height to swing at because you're ground balancing where the ground noise kicks in. Because of this you can comfortably swing 'above' the stubble and still detect deep targets. On the V3 the dual coils are really stable and don't get effected much if you hit into things so it might make sense to order a dual coil with your V3. The thing to understand here is Nexus doesn't operate like any other metal detector so you have to forget about all the machines you've used in the past and have both patience and an open mind.
@@paulwarrenmetaldetecting thanks Paul, I’d love the Dual 12 but I think I’ll have to come back to that one as I don’t think my budget will stretch that far at the moment so it will be one of the DD’s and possibly the 9 or 11 SS to cover all bases for now. Thanks for your reply and I’m reading and watching my way through your videos and blogs. There’s so much hype around multi frequency and new machines with very marginal performance advantages if any at all, it’s kind of having an adverse effect on how I personally view the hobby now. It’s almost suppressing and quite negative, especially with all of these current and new wave of celebs coming through wanting to be noticed and hyping pretty mediocre products. I’ll admit I’ve been guilty of it myself, getting caught up in the mass hysteria over the latest and greatest offering from the so called top brands. There’s nothing wrong with that if that’s how you wish to continue in the hobby but for me personally the hobby is becoming more negative through social media etc so time to break away from the norms and re kindle the buzz again with something completely different. Thanks again for the advice it’s much appreciated.
@@Iaincrosby There has been a redesign of all the DD coils and they're really stable, you can't go wrong with any of them. I haven't made a videos because I'm bored of posting test videos, with the V3 as with the V2, you can phase out pull tabs and still pick up small gold, I've tested it with my really small gold ear rings
OK just want to get my head around this. That looks like a piece of aluminum can not like thin foil. Is that piece of an aluminum can? that’s pretty amazing if it is. This is another question, so, in theory, I could set up a V3 to discriminate out that piece of aluminum which is similar to most size “can-slaw” we find in modern parks without affecting the detection of coins?
Yes it's from a beer can it's aluminium, you can disc it out and still pick up coins and other non ferrous targets without the worry of missing masked targets
@@paulwarrenmetaldetecting That is impressive. I wouldn’t doubt there’s some out there that would say, “yeah…you could use notch discrimination on digital Metal Detectors to do that.” Not really, eliminating a piece of aluminum that size on my digital metal detector would definitely affect the detection of MANY coins and jewelry. A piece of aluminum that size would have a much higher VDI reading than some small piece of aluminum foil. This is very interesting.
Yup correct there will be people that say that but they will miss so many nonferrous targets, with Nexus you won't, the trolls tend to get upset about this video but as I explain, Nexus machines are very different
If you discriminate out aluminum will it still pick up coin around iron.. also if it take’s turning coarse gb all the way to 10 and fine gb to like 5 to get it to ground balance…is it the same as if you can gb using only the coarse to about 5 and not need fine at all
Hi Jim yes you can still pick up a coin next to iron but it might limit the size of the iron and the size of the coin in regards to unmasking, there will always be a trade off. Depending on where you have the fine set, it changes how the coarse is set, that's why to begin with turn the fine off and just use the coarse, this basically makes the ground balance procedure the same as the Credo DDM
@@paulwarrenmetaldetecting thanks Paul in order to ground balance about anywhere I go here ..In order to get a tone lowering the coil I have to turn coarse all the way up and fine around 4-6. before I get the sweet spot..thanks
Well then you're good to go, don't over think it too much, I have times where my coarse is all the way round to the left and then I adjust the fine dial, the point is to balance the best you can can, dial position means very little

Does the detector give a unique sound for silver, but how about gold would it give you a hint in foil aluminum and other junk targets.
no it doesn't it's either one tone or VCO tones, the RGB meter helps I.D the target
What happens on a changing ground mineralization spots how do you know that you need to adjust the controls.
the machine will tell you with excess ground noise
What do these units cost
It depends what coil you go for, go on to the Nexus website to check the prices
