What many do not realize is this: before this whole fiasco began, the U.S. was the only country in the world with major airlines that required four-year degrees in order to be a pilot. That requirement is proving to be not only unnecessary for successful flying but also unfair for low-income Americans in particular.
The assumption that a college education magically makes that person a higher-quality and more desirable employee is inherently unfair. Look at the premier international air carriers: British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Avianca, Air New Zealand. Not one of these top-tier airlines requires a college degree. They do require between 1,000 to 2,500 hours of flight time, a medical certificate, and English proficiency.

I wish I could start my whole life over again. I certainly wouldn't go into the terrible companies I worked for or the cubicle work I have had to do. I don't know if I could have been a pilot with my sinus issues, but I certainly wouldn't do a desk job. MY desk job has too much stress for the mediocre pay. I stay up at night worrying about work. I literally grind my teeth at work to the point where I had to go to the doctor for pain in my jaw.

I’m starting a 2 year aviation degree program next month. I’m really hoping just having an associates will be enough to carry me into the majors, but I’ll look at finishing the 4 year when the time comes. I plan on joining the Civil Air Patrol after school. Not sure how that looks on a resume. Thanks for the info!

Hi Peter! Other than the greater pay and prestige that go along with flying a wide-body jet for a legacy carrier, in a future video would you be able to expound upon the more technical aspects of flying the 767 that make it more enjoyable to operate than aircraft operated earlier in your career? Thanks!

@@baseleg Hey man I have a BA in history and recently started flight training at a small flight school located at VNY. Should I also be trying to get a degree that's closer to the aviation field or do airlines just care about you having a BA in general?

Do you ever feel really stressed when flying? What is more stressful-- driving in heavy traffic on an expressway that you are not familiar with looking for the proper exit or flying. I watched the Big Ern channel and he seems to just put in the coordinates and then once they get a few thousand feet up the computer takes over. It looks easier than driving an 18 wheeler through heavy LA or Chicago traffic or any city for that matter,

Hey do you think this is a good plan… get my ppl before I graduate hs after hs go to atp after atp become a flight instructor and do an online degree at the same time in something like business just in case I can’t fly and go to regionals then hopefully after about 5 years there go to a major?

    • @videogameplayer0552

That can definitely work, but something to consider is that ATP is very expensive, and is essentially a crash course for aviation. If one is ever falling behind a little bit, then that could be a big issue, because ATP is designed to take people from zero hours to CFI in nine months. That’s an extremely rushed time frame.

@@pacitonito1903 so yeah i’m about 1 month out from my private i’m still in hs 🙃but yes i still plan to go to atp i toured a couple atp faculties and i plan to go to the one i’m Tampa next sprimg after i graduate!

@@videogameplayer0552 yeah well i’ve heard that goikg in with your private helps so i’ll have that basically a background already. then i play to do all my writtens before. as far as expensive i mean it is a bit pricey but not much more expensive then say a college program. and the airline partnerships make up for that like i plan to fly for sun country right away and they have a partnership with them
