A long time ago,the man who taught me trucking quit and started driving charter buses, but it wasn’t long before he got back in a truck. I asked him what happened and he said,”I got tierd of my freight bitching at me,trying to barrow money,or wander off during stops.” He was a lot happier hauling inanimate cargo.

Unfortunately, we most likely will see that again. Humanity gets struck with this kind of thing every 60-80 years or so; it's just the nature of diseases. But we're getting a lot better at handling them. The death rate of COVID was 70-100 times smaller than the death rate of the previous pandemic, the Spanish flu from a century before. If anything, it's a good reminder that we, for a change, did something right.

Got a buddy flying 747 freighters, he says full load in and out takes same time as refuelling if the ground has its act together.
Max take off and landing weight can be way up on a freighter so speeds are up

Good stuff! I somehow didn't notice this video even though I've been following the both of you for quite some time now.
It's weird to see this a year later. With Italy doing so bad and Spain, and the US not knowing yet what was going to hit them.
And right now the Netherlands, where I'm from, are amongst the worst performing countries in the world. And honestly, it's not that bad right now. That makes it seem like we are actually getting out of here. Here's to hoping!

1:27 "Did you need to take any special licence to fly cargo?" Well, you need extended Dangerous Goods Training to handle Cargo Aircraft Only items.
3:15 "How does a turn-around look for you?" I have done "hot turns" on cargo (land, taxi in, leave one engine running while you throw out one or two boxes, and take on one or two) taxi out and take off. That was on a light jet cargo operation. Mind you - I've done that with passenger operations as well when the APU was broken and there wasn't any ground power. Sometimes we had three hours to wait - in the middle of the night so the only thing open was a taxi-driver's burger joint so we would wait there. Flying cargo operations for an airline, we got cold catering (sandwich & fruit platter).

Good job, you two! Interesting times we are in. Was the only aircraft in an entire ATCC enroute sector (SLCC) last week. Did 2 radio checks just make sure we didn’t out fly our VHF communications with them. Got cleared directly to the IAF, and for the approach, and to land in Class B airspace from the same controller upon initial hand-off! Prefer cargo. The ride is only rough when you can’t drink your coffee.
