This game is a really interesting slow Ruy Lopez struggle where Leonhardt's aggressive play and structural decisions show a good appreciation of the opening. The game goes completely out of control and Leonhardt is somewhat lucky this time as Schlechter falters in the complications and steers for a draw instead of a very intricate win!
Very nice game and video, thanks Matthew ! 1…a6 and 2…h6, eh ? 🤨 Looks like you were pioneering the concept of OTB trolling, before the term “trolling” had even been coined 😁 Paying homage to the great Tony Miles, I suppose 😉
Yes indeed! Just starting up in chess again, I wasn't sure what to play so my thoughts went back to what Tony and all the other players of my era played 😊
By the way: it’s absolutely not a problem, but the perfectionist in you might want to investigate. In the video (and I think in the previous one as well) the title “Schlechter-Leonhardt” is correctly displayed… until it switches to “Leonhardt- Znosko-B” after a few minutes 🧐 Anyway, 🙏 again. I look forward to the next games - and one day, I hope, to a vol.2 of RTCC !
Ah curses! Yes I forgot about that after splitting the video.... Never mind, will just have to be a test for attentive readers 😉😊 Yes another volume of RTCC would be nice - I have lots of material 😊- but I don't know whether there really is a market for it anymore... I think most people coming into chess nowadays - who buy books and courses - aren't into the classics so much! And modern training material has a lot fewer games from the classic eras too so people pick up less and less about it. We'll see how it goes but I may need another idea for my next book!

Please, game with S. Alapin 🙏
Yes I'll maybe do that one some time 😊
