Hi Mike! You say buying a Bentley is a huge risk but at the same time, you can't hide that ear-to-ear smile on your face. Hope you enjoy your new Spur! Have a good one!
I did since move on from this one as it unfortunately developed a very annoying array of electrical issues from, in my opinion, a very poor design for such an expensive car. The windscreen scuttle traps debris over time and as rain builds up, it can sometimes overflow down the back of the dash and under the passenger seat, where major electricals are, which happened in my case, put the car in limp mode, hazards stuck on, doors wouldn't lock etc. One of the issues with having so many interlinked systems really. I'd definitely recommend cleaning out the drainways to avoid it. For some it will never be an issue, for me it of course was
You can hold the "risk" low if you don't buy that 6+ owner Bentley with low mileage and the last documented service was at a Tire place 4 years ago. Look for a 2-3 owner car with a nice driving mileage {6000 a year)do a PPI and invest $ 300 in a tabscan (Automotive intelligent diagnostic tool} If you own it then have a good Indy ,don't be cheap buy the oil Mobil 1 10W40 ,buy good filters and fix when something is broken and try to buy parts online there are several sites selling all kind of Bentley parts for a lower price then the dealer. If you have the money to buy a Bentley you should have the money to drive and enjoy it and live with the depreciation when you sell it again with higher miles
Ah good choice mate! I remember your community post where you were thinking about the Toureg, which I don't dislike, but this is the far superior option.
Haha, yeah lol. I may go to the complete opposite end of the spectrum after this with something like a Golf R32 tbh. One of my favourite cars I reviewed this year.
@@MuscleCarLover Haha I guess technically a Maybach was more expensive, but I’d never buy that. A used one is like £50k in England and for that I’d get an Aston Rapide 😜👌
The w12 engine is a hard one to work on. Anything turbo or anything else wise is a engine out job so prepare to have the Bentley down for a couple weeks when getting something fixed on the engine
Honestly dude, fairplay to you. You only live once so why not?, Looks like a comfortable ride which is what I would want most.. Hope it serves you well :)
With a twin turbo engine that is considered rather difficult to work on, I would probably baby it when driving. Turbo's wear the engine out faster, and considering this is a W12, fixing this engine will be very costly and time consuming which leads to a higher labor cost. It is a cool car, and considering this channel is bigger, I would assume that the maintenance upkeep for this car is do-able. Lets hope that multiple things do not break at once as the time of your ownership goes on. Congrats on getting this car, and I hope you are able to enjoy it as much as you can!
Yeah we'll see how it goes. Basically all five of the cars I've owned so far have had horror stories, but only one turned out to be bad in my experience, the first Quattroporte. If this turns out bad then I'll just move on, likely to something completely different like a Golf R32 or Evo X
@@HSGAutomotive It is really just the nature of the owner with their cars, and the amount of effort the manufactures put into the quality of their cars. There are horror stories, and some are lucky to bypass them. Just keep an eye of the major issues the car has and it should not have a major issue in a long time. I own a Mazda Miata 2010 phase 2, or "face lift version". I bought it when it has 71K miles. The second owner did a roasdster sport race exhaust, and a AEM air filter. Interior was great, and the car ran like new, looks great too, but ECU programming and sensor programming was rather untouched or stock. So, I had to revert the catalytic converter back to stock, because the one already on there was a "fake" free flowing converter. I had to go back to a stock air filter because the filter was in the front of the bumper very low, which had to go. I also had to replace the vinyl top with a clothe top. The rear window's adhesive gave in. In total, I probably spent 4'500$ in repairs for the past two years of ownership. I probably would have paid less, if the first mechanic actually fixed my catalytic converter issue with just replacing it with the factory cat. By the way, make sure you find the best mechanic that is honest with you, lots of scammers out there mate. General maintenance I had to change the transmission pan fluid. (NEVER FLUSH THE SYSTEM IN A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) Differential fluid is next at 85K. I drive the car like a grandma, and no issues. That, and it is a Miata after all. If you can find a Miata to review, I think the NC will be your favorite. My father who is 6'3" can fit in it and drive it. It is not the most luxurious two-seater, but I believe it is the best you can get to work on, and still be reliable for new comers.
Twin turbo engines are no harder than any other engine both to work on and on the longevity of its performance. You need to get your facts correct before typing. Congratulations on an amazing automobile!…ps) my sister has a miata.
@@LawrenceTimme Yeah it’s crazy just on the 2005 technicality, lol. Only other one I’ve had which matched that was the first 2005 Quattroporte. Aka the worst car I’ve owned so far 😂
When you said there's no space around the engine, that got me thinking. What is the conventionally simple, routine job that, for this car, requires the engine to be removed? I know of some cars where replacing spark plugs is an engine out job. On the other hand, looks like a really nice example you found, not sold on the silver, but my god that interior looks like a lovely place to be in, the combination of the tan interior and the colour of that wood finish is perfect IMO.
I’m not sure of the full list of engine out work, but that bulb I mentioned is looking to be more of a pain than it should be, technically requiring 4 hours of Bentley dealer work and removing the front bumper. Which is ridiculous, and I found a guy who changed it from the top down by removing the air filter so that’s the route I’d probably go
Very nice! Did you trade in the Maser? I've been looking for the right one for a while so would potentially be interested if its up for sale somewhere!
Love the car . Must say I don’t watch all your videos , normally just the PlayStation Gran torismo ones so I had never seen your face before . For some reason I had put your smooth silky voice to a 45/50 year old man and am now shocked to see that I was so wrong 😂😂 Will take me few weeks to get used to it but keep up the great work and I hope that the Bentley reaps all the rewards you want
I'm yet to get my hands on one for a review, but would really love to. Drove the newer V8 RS6 and that was great, but something about the V10 just seems more special
Becoming the new Hoovie? :D I hope your cars are more reliable than his x> But in all seriousness, gongrats! I chickened out of european cars after my Alfa GTV V6 and went back to japanese, wasn´t really my thing but I like them too :> It had a Ragazzone exhaust, sounded really good with the 3-litre 24 valve engine. I´d say go for it with the muffler delete, an engine that big should be heard x> or maybe try it, can always put them back on
Dude, congrats! Hope she brings you a lot of joy. Loving this "new motor" tradition :)

haha totally :P thanks dude
There are 2 batteries in this model, both agm. Varta G14 & D52. If the battery is flat for the starting battery, you can start off the secondary one.
I have just brought a 2006 Bentley continental flying spur. Your videos will be very useful to me !

I've heard maintenance becomes a nightmare.
It can, but that can be said about pretty much any exotic or luxury motor
Well done! Enjoy the new ride and happy holidays.
I’ve looked at them in the past - good call! Interested to hear how you get on - enjoy!
Cheers!
Enjoyed watching
Love these Bentley's
Future classic the spur , after having a c63 6.2 then going back to a vw t6 van i miss a v8.
All the best 👍👍
Congrats mate! 👍🏼

Congratulations, great choice! I'll be waiting for the next videos on this car! 🙂
Thanks!

good on ya, mate!
Looks like a big brother to my S Type
What a beast. I assume the only logical step after this will be to buy a literal train.
Hopefully you're lucky with the reliability.
