Gloves are too elegant for today's casual fashions. Thhhe late queen always wore them, but Kate does not. I doubt that having regular manicures is less expensive than gloves however. My granddad's next doiir neighbour always wore gloves and she had beautiful nails which she filed and buffed herself. Her hands looked so young.

Gloves covered broken nails and stained hands; garden season is coming, maybe we can bring them back

I do not see a citation or a link to Nicole Rudolph's video that you use (5:23) to show off her fantastic gloves. Please don't use other maker's work without referencing them at least.

I thought that was her. I was thinking they were friends or something.

Quite the opposite in Japan in summer and winter they are still worn to protect the hands from the elements. You can find them everywhere here at any price point. I think our ancestors were on to something though in protecting themselves before the knowledge of viruses and bacteria.

Be an equestrian. I have at least 3 different sets I wear everyday. Also, no one ever wore gloves when eating or playing an instrument.

We wore gloves because one did not want to touch anything dirty. It's simple

absolutely, practicality was key in the past. gloves were as much about hygiene as they were about fashion.

I kept expecting the addition of dishwashers and washing machines to be mentioned. Sometimes women's hands and nails were just ravaged by their chores.

that's a valid point! the evolution of household technology like dishwashers and washing machines indeed played a significant role in changing daily wear, including gloves.
it's fascinating how practicality can influence fashion trends.
thanks for bringing up that perspective!

Women stopped wearing gloves at the same time they stopped wearing bras.
