  • Here's my Top 5 wood products I like to make with pallet wood. I take appart the pallets I find on the marketplace and make furniture for my family and to sell for profit. I've been making all sorts of things from chairs, to desks and benches, all without spending a dollar on wood. I hope I can inspire you to do the same with free pallets in your area. Enjoy the video!

just in the right time as I was trying to think what to do next after selling my first piece, I've made a shelve last year and initially my wife wanted it but then she changed her mind. Regards from New Zealand.

I started using pallet wood but quickly learned what a pain it is! I have the tool to break them apart and the de-nailer gun to make things go faster BUT most of the time it's cheap pine boards that are already cracked or when you remove the cross pieces, huge chunks of wood split away because of the ring shank nails and your only left with a 20" or so piece of useable wood. I suppose if you find some solid Oak pallets you'd do better but around here, they always send them back to get their deposits back. Ive made some nice/rustic stuff but be prepared to spend some time dismantling several pallets to get enough wood to use.

I live in an area that im fortunate to be able to leave pallets behind. Most places I go get them, I have 100s to pick from. I used to just take whatever I could find, but ended up, as you said, sifting thru so much bad wood, cracked wood, or just dirty. Now I only take pallets that i'd say I use almost entirely. I avoid any pallets with extra cut nails all over, extra dirty or that I know will be too hard to take appart (those blue ones!). Thanks for the support!

I'm fortunate that at work I have dumpsters full of pallet slats that get popped off by the pallet Jack's. But i also have experience breaking them apart and if you mainly use them for outdoor builds wet the pallets first because the wet wood rarely cracks.

@@josephmackseeya2893 I'll have to try breaking them down when they're wet...that shouldn't be a problem because all it does around here is rain lol
