Ten years ago, Man of Steel was out, I thought to myself "This universe has so much potential."

I fucking hate Man of Steel. Synder's Randian dogshit doesn't belong anywhere near Superman. Damn, what a total asshole.
Same for me when I saw BvS everywhere in stores, but oof.
Superman vs. Godzilla needs to happen.
Yeah it was epic on the same level as some dbs action. Loved it.
It did have potential, they just squandered it.
The trident duel was genuinely one of the better combat scene on screen. I personally thought the movie had quite some solid scenes

After watching it, the film has great moments for sure. It’s just a delicious pie with a bugar on it. Can you eat around the bugar? Some people can, some people can’t.

The first Aquaman will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first movie that I watched on my own in the theaters.

Mine was transformers 3 as a kid. Big soda, big popcorn, 95% full theater. My family wanted to watch Yhugo I think and I didn't want to and my mother turned to me and said "you could watch transformers by yourself yeah know" and I was like "that's a great idea!" :D
And with that, the DCEU can finally be laid to rest.
People think Gunn is safe, but he's still making a movie under WB.

Amber Heard had a lot more screen time and "hero" moments than I was expecting. It proves they didn't diminish her role cause of controversy, but merely shifted the co-lead role to Patrick because he has better chemistry with Jason than Amber, which is exactly what WB said in court. They weren't lieing, cause they had an easy moment in the plot that could've kept her out of the whole film.
So let’s get this straight. Johnny was fired from all his active roles, and blacklisted by Hollywood the INSTANT her accusations of abuse went public.
She is literally proven guilty of domestic abuse in court, and gets to not only keep her roles, but has the company she’s currently working for defend her…………

@@tyleroutland435Uh no Blue Beetle was not amazing. It felt like a TV movie rather than a big budget picture and Shazam while decent didn't do anything that made it worth remembering.
The movie has a lot going on. It could have a better plot. Maybe Yahya's character could have discovered the black trident through research and maybe he could have entered Atlantis with the mission to kill Aquaman. The lost kingdom reminded me of Mordor and its people the disavowed fighters whose souls were trapped and Aragorn frees them after they serve him in battle in the Return of the King.
I just got out of Aquaman 2 and I had a blast with my 3 boys. It was fun and didn’t take itself too serious. Kick back and relax plus Randal Parks is in it, ha ha love that guy.
Exactly! Just came out of the theatre myself. It's not as good as the first, but it was pretty fun. Definitely a one time watch.

I saw it last night and I enjoyed it 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️. Was it the best nooo but I liked the redemption of the brother and the fact they found some common ground. I thought Manta revenge was still driven by himself because his hardword is what help find the bad triton…and in the end he still never forgave Aquaman. I think an evil can work through u and u still drive the evil too.

What happened with the DCEU and what's currently happening (for the last 4 years really) with the MCU is what happens when 'the money guys' get to make all the decisions and push out all the people who had passion.
The MCU feels like it had it's natural ending with Endgame...and has just kept going to generally deminishing returns as all the momentum has gone.
If it was about the money they would have a course change to a path that makes money.
Rather they've taken the diversity, equity, and inclusion, path, and destroyed the franchise as a result.

While that may be 1 of about 1000 issues, there are still about 999 others, so it just seems silly to put all your focus on this one thing & say "that's it...that's rhe problem." Just feels like you're making it the scapegoat.

They keep trying to milk the franchise while avoiding putting in the effort to make it worthwhile for consumers. This has happened to a ton of franchises before, and it'll keep happening to many more. It's not because of the recent "wokeness" trend, it's because of greed.
@@freman007 Disagree completely. There are no shortage of examples of "money people" who take over once successful projects only to ruin them because they only think about what will make as much money as possible.
In the MCU and DCEU cases they were constantly changing what the direction of the franchises were they either followed trends in the real world (for instance what people are mad about at any particular time see everything surrounding Captain Marvel) and shaped the stories to appease as many people as possible or in the DCEU's case they were trying to chase what Marvel was doing that made them successful losing anything resembling a cohesive narrative in the process.
You know Marvel and DC are doing something wrong when Jeremy had more fun with a Mario and Transformers movie more than the vast majority of comic book movies this year.
Marvel and DC are dead in the water right now. From Comics all the way to the movies.

Even with the Mario Movie and Rise of the Beasts having numerous flaws, I'd rather watch these a billion more times each than see any comic book movie this year again excluding Guardians 3.
I actually had a good time with this one. The final act was very weak but the first two were enjoyable. I'd deem it roughly equivalent to The Flash. It isnt a cinematic wonder, but it was fun

I just saw Aquaman 2 yesterday, and it was alright. Despite Amber Heard being in it, I still like it.
As cheesy as this movie was, somehow I enjoyed it. 😅 It seemed like the actors knew it was gonna be crap, and just had fun with it. Was it a great movie? NO. Was it entertaining? For sure
After Jeremy's opening line, I expected Jamieson Price to pop up and say "Fatality".
I think what hurt the character of Aquaman is that they transition to much of Jason to the character. Jason Momoa I really like him he is good. The Aquaman I use to compare is the one from JL(TV Show) and that guy was badass. More king than a hero, but it work.
He was a miscast to begin with. Its no surprise that we want him to play Lobo and he would fit the role like a glove. The first movie was constructed so that Jason could be believable as Arthur cant say how it is in the sequel coz I havent seen it but besides the first movie it was showing he doesnt suit Arthur. So much of the character was lost just so Momoa could play him.

I notice a lot of reviewers saying that Amber Heard isn’t in this movie a lot and that her dialogue is limited. I’m not sure I watched the same movie then as Amber is in this movie a lot more than what I was lead to believe.

If Momoa wants nothing to do with DC anymore after this, that’s understandable. However, like others who vouced for it, it’d be a missed opportunity to not cast him as Lobo. But I’m open to other actors handling the role as long as they fit the character’s description.

I love how Jonathon Majors got dropped by Marvel and other companies immediately as soon he was found guilty of assault and may face jail time meanwhile, when Amber Heard was exposed to have assaulted Johnny Depp and guilty for defamation..her screentime on Aquaman was merely cut down rather than removed entirely. Apparently, she was dropped from various companies but they seemed to drag their ass and like she was still given a chance. I know she wasn't tried for that assault but that fact that she isn't speaks volumes to the toxic double-standards regarding when men do physical assault and when women do it and even now, how women often get lighter sentences, if any at all. Not saying Majors should not get held accountable/punished, he should but sometimes the punishment does NOT fit the crime. These toxic double-standards and hypocrisy just seems to overshadow all the good aspects of living in the U.S. now 🤦♂

It's a popcorn movie, kind of like the recent Fast and Furious ones. The kind you throw on just to look at explosions and action sequences and then turn off after 30 mins to go do other things.

I’ve not seen GoT (didn’t interest me), but I did see loads of Emilia Clarke and Jason Mamoa interacting. That could have been a decent recasting, and given the characters chemistry.
Given that its the last time both play those chars it wasnt needed there will be new actors playing Arthur and Mera in DCU. But as a GoT fan I totally agree that if they wanted they could recast Heard with Clarke and there would be a huge difference between them.

Favourite movie, Man of Steel. I know most people hate it but after a rewatch, years later, I genuinely really liked it. It was a pretty decent Superman. Henry Cavill was a good Superman.

Favorite DCEU movie? The Suicide Squad. They did really good work with all of the characters introduced for that movie. Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, hell they even made Rick Flag someone that was more than the "I am soldier man" character that he was in the first movie.
I love how that movie was the only DCEU movie to feel like a comic book from the colours to wacky characters… comic books are goofy and it remembered that.
I liked the Enchantress the most... she was so good in that.
A movie that made me care about Ratcacher, a woman whose superpower is to literally summon rats, way more than Superman and Batman. That's probably the biggest "accomplishment" of the DCEU for me. It's also a good thing that, beside a couple of references, the movie perfectly stands alone on its own without the need of an extended universe, so i can just watch it again as a perfectly fine piece of entertainment and ignore the rest.
Yeah probably the best of the buch and that is saying volume about the overall quality...
@BlueGuyTube - Superman and Batman is this universe was honestly two of the worst adaptions / interpretations played by two actors who probably understood them the most - yet had to go along with a story that was ultimately against everything the characters’ stood for. It was wild.
Keep in mind, WB kept meddling. So much so, James Wan walked off set. Gunn has a lot to worry about with Superman Legacy.

This could have been a movie of the story of a dedicated good King battling a villain and overcoming an evil plot. And saving his kingdom. Edit: carrying on where the previous movie left off, but with a more mature king (Jason Mamoa is now several years older after all). As he took on more responsibility and gained experience through conflicts.
It's believed that they were going to cut Amber Heard completely due to her lacking chemistry with Momoa, not getting along with almost everyone on set, and the IRL Controversies in regards to the Defamation Case about Johnny Depp, but the reason why she still in it is because she got Elon Musk to threaten a Lawsuit against WB if they dropped Heard
It was just a fun popcorn action movie. Felt a lot like the first movie. Amber Heard was not bad.
That Amber Heard transition made me laugh out loud. Pure gold :)

Also I love Mera. Not so much the actress though, I appreciate the hero moments Mera had in this. I wish the circumstances were better.

I honestly didn't understand the whole 7th kingdom storyline. The first movie made us think that he visited the lost kingdom and then they had to swim through all those monsters that made me think those were mutated denizens from the lost kingdom, but then they get to this movie and the lost kingdom is in the arctic. Weird
I think a lot of people are just going to re-watch the first Aquaman and stay home for this. It does suck when a director's hands are tied because of all the problems that plagued this movie, nothing could save it at this point.
First was shitty too. Except water effects and Dolph Lundgren there was nothing to see.
Nah the visuals looked pretty cool for the most part. I'm going to see it in theaters. But I'm also a big dc fan so I'd go see a DC film in theaters regardless lol

Watched it this morning and I loved it!
The dialogue and it was all over the place. They visuals are pretty good in 3-D, not sure they would be as good in digital though. Maybe in IMAX.
Here's to wishing a brighter future for the DCU and MCU because, let's be honest, 2023 wasn't the best year for either. Someday, we might see complete books and documentaries chronicling the entire tumultuous journey of the DCEU's 10-year saga.

I felt sorry because the suits looked accurate AF. And man seeing Aquaman win is huge compared to how they made fun of him back then. I think in the dcu we need him to not be so rockstar ish. More thor like with how he talks. Blonde hair short cut with a unkown or up and coming actor. And i would try doing tempest as the Aquaman. Where he truly struggles with being in the world side vs a older been through shit with the justice society of the past Aquaman. As he fights to show Aquaman the world isn't so bad. After he lost faith in it losing his hand in battle to protect it.
