I know Bear has been given really bad advice, but he should man up. What a knucklehead!. He was so lucky to have Coach Henny, and pissed it all away. Players far less talented( Meyer, Thompkins, Clifton are taking advantage of the situation. He will be someone else's problem next year.
So Henderson invented the wheel? He's the only good DL coach out there who can help him get to the NFL? He'd be in good hands at just about any SEC program, Big 12 or Big 10 school

When he signed an NIL deal does he get to keep the money if he quits 3 games into the season?
That should be written into these players signing deal.
He gets to keep what he has received up to the point he stops playing. It’s usually monthly payments.

That's not what his message was. He wanted the reporters to shut up, as in "nothing to see here folks," which turned out to be a lie. That wasn't the way to handle it for the good of the team. NOW, after it's public there's nothing to see and next man up. But when asked CLR should have not been pensive and pedantic and impish about it. Just come out and tell the goddamned truth and say that the team comes first to begin with. Don't try to shove it under a rug as it make it look like we're pandering to the kid.

The NFL doesn't care. Guys like Vince Wilfork, Jermaine Johnson, Joe Mixon, Jalen Carter came in with character issues. All that happened is they dropped a few spots but all went high.

These dudes came in with bigger character issues and dropped just a few spots. Many went to better teams. Wilfork dropped to the late 1st round goes to the Patriots and wins a Superbowl.
But the difference is that these guys still put forth the work and effort. Bear didn't. Scouts ask questions and if they hear that Bear doesn't put forth the effort in practice, then he may be a late draft pick, if he's draft. Then he's really going have to put in the work to prove his worth. But what happens if it gets too hard because he's not getting the snaps he wants? He'll hold out? Scouts look at stuff like that and they'll return to the bosses and share what they learned.
You're wrong about the NFL, but correct about everything else. If Bear shows up at the draft combine and kills it, after showing and proving on the field at whatever next school he transfers to, he'll be on somebody's roster. All that "character" stuff is just for old fogies and alumni fanboys. Ya'll said the same thing about that Ohio State receiver a few years ago, who opted out of a BCS game, and he still went 1st round and is doing well. On course to get a nice-sized bag after his rookie deal ends.

@@hrpickinstuff there is no comparison to what is going on with Bear as I understand it to the players that you named besides them being transfers or having character flaws. Being a transfer and/or having character flaws is not the issue here as I agree with you that both run rampant. The issue here is bailing out on your team on multiple occasions, and holding out for more money but not producing on the field commensurate to what you’re asking for.
I can’t address all the examples that you gave, but neither Jaxon Dart or Velus Jones bailed out on their team 3 games into the season and once during spring camp.

I would rather much take a young guy with the “body“ and non-experience over somebody with a really bad attitude and zero heart and zero effort. Bair does not want to put in the hard work. Long term this is net plus- coaches holding the line .kids in squad will note this as will recruits. Bear was going through what any player with untapped potential goes through under a good coach. You’re held to a higher standard and expected to put in the work to make you great. His Agent/Guardian got butt-hurt by a podcaster, wanted to make demands for playing time, and forced Bear to switch to his 7th team in 8 years. What happens when the fans of his NFL team does what they do and criticizes him on Social Media. Will Tony Jones start a Twitter War and demand to have him traded?
When does this stop??? I guess it won’t stop without signed contracts. This is no longer college sports. The players are not amateurs anymore, they are paid professionals some with agents and representatives. Right, wrong, or indifferent.
Thanks for the show Marc you hit it on the head about bear when I noticed that he was not starting the first two games I knew it was an attitude and effort issue. when he held out this summer for more nil I did not feel this was good for him because even last year when he played majority of the snaps effort was an issue on more than half of his plays definitely not good for the locker room

100% agree. The truth is we don't know what was promised to him? I've coached for 30+ years. I've seen my peers lie and make empty promises over and over to players just to get them to sign. I've seen enough on the inside to not just blindly trust what any coach says. Riley lies all the time. Remember the Grinch gaslighting? There are two sides to a story. I know for a fact Kirby Smart will say anything, IE lie to get you to sign.

Bear Alexander is 21 and is old enough to make his own decisions. If this is the direction he’s going then just cut him loose and replace him. The rest of the team seems committed to the program and will be rewarded with starting and playing opportunities.

Its not a mistake. NIL changed the game. Dude will probably end up at Texas playing in a NC game next year. Players leave teams and do better all the time. I can list them all day. Jayden Daniels left ASU where people were calling for him to be benched goes to LSU and wins a Heisman. Bo Nix left Auburn where he was benched and has a great career at Oregon and is in the NFL now. Valus Jones couldn't get on the field here went to Tennessee and was a star WR and is in the NFL now. Jt Daniels left USC went 7-0 with Georgia won a bowl game on a huge stage and had his best season of his career at Rice. Wole Bitiku couldn't get on the field at USC and had a monster season at Illinois at one time lead the nation in sacks before he got hurt. Jaxon Dart left USC where he didn't look good goes to Ol Miss and is the top rated QB in the nation right now. There are hundreds of examples. Sometimes leaving a team is a great career move.

How OK are you with CLR gas lighting us? Previously I would have called it coy games with the injury and player status issues. But now he flat out forces a lie down our threats. Think of how JR would have handled this, or Pete. With Bear, the warning signs were hard to miss; guardian, portal games, high school transfers. It contributes to a poisonous atmosphere. D line is that last place we need divas. I'm sorry but Bear's guardian is dumb.

Joe Mixon punched a woman in the face and broke her nose in college. He was arrested sued and settled and was on probation. Lagerrtt Blount sucker punched a Boise State player in the face on the sidelines and was suspended yet played in the NFL for 8 seasons. There are dozens of examples. Too many to list.
History has shown, The NFL won't give a damm about what they think, maybe one or two teams will but he will just slide a few spots down and another team will take him. It is what it is.

They haven’t double or triple teamed him all season, they haven’t had to, have you watched the games? He was getting blown off the ball during the Utah State game. The long 60+ run during the Michigan game, was right through his gap. I’ve coached defensive line at a high level for 20+ years, this guy takes plays off, he paces himself, he not an impact player this season. He’s not putting in the work and it shows, the rumors are true, I said it last year, he is a cancer, he was screwing around at practice, he just is not mature enough, look at the Utah game last year.

They can switch packages to a 3-4 in some snaps and Kam Fountain can definitely help. And I think that will happen.
Kameryn is plenty big enough to play DT. Remember, Coach Lynn likes versatile DL guys who can play the pass or run. And after a year in the system, he'll be even bigger!!

Bear Alexander is a young man let him find his way. My advice not just in football, in life, NEVER settle. It's not for someone else to tell you what you should accept. If Bear feels a certain way (IE, I'm a starter). He should pursue that. I Guarantee he will find a team who agrees with him. I wish you good health and happiness Bear. No hard feelings here. Is your advice to take the path of least resistance? Because if it is, that's a terrible message. Why should Bear be guaranteed playing time? He played at 5 different high schools. Bailed out on UGA when immediate playing time was staring him in the face. And now he has more competition in the room at USC pushing him.
Do you really think they're going to play someone in front of Bear who isn't playing better?

Do you have to stay at the LA times knowing they have 20 guys competing for the same job or do you go up the street and write for USA today who has 2 sports writers or start your own business? The world is full of quitters who are now millionairs. We don't know where Bear is at. Maybe he feels like he doesn't fit this scheme, he might prefer to take more reps on the edge like UGA used him from time to time. Maybe he feels like he's struggling to keep up and he's giving it his all and is just not good enough but has too much pride to say it. He wants to play "shouldn't everyone want that"? Sounds to me like he simply disagrees with Henderson and Lynn on his skill level. He's entitled to that. This is a supply and demand situation unfortunately he doesn't have to rely on their opinion. He can go somewhere else.
What do you do when your giving it your all and your boss says, you're getting better keep working, months later you get the same line, even though you feel like you've earned and are qualified for a promotion. Now it's sounds like BS. At the same time you have an offer on the table to work for a competitor. Do you stay the path or do you look for another job? I believe a vast majority of people look for another job. I've done it. You might be a stick it out and let this Boss determine you fate guy, that's not wrong either.
Bear may want to play a level down. Sometimes you're surrounded by people who tell you you're better than you are. It's ok to say. My goals do not change but maybe I should take a different path to get there. Maybe a MAC school like I mentioned, he will have to earn PT but the depth chart might be more favorable and he'd be a big fish in a small pond. Lots of people regroup this way. Its not quitting Rickey White UNLV star WR transferred from Michigan State, he was buried on their depth chart, best decision he ever made. He's on the watch list. Coaches miss evaluate players all the time, anyone who says he doesn't is lying. Sometimes players just don't see eye to eye with certain coaches. I don't like every person I meet. I never took it personal. Just because a player didn't play for me doesn't mean he won't play well for you. My goal as a coach was to find the best path for a player to succeed and sometimes it was on another team. Coaches are mentors. This is the NIL era. Lots of dudes play for multiple teams. Jt Daniels is a high character guy. Everyone who knows him says the same thing. He played for 4 teams (Rice, USC, UGA, West Virginia) nobody will ever convince me that he's a bad person becuse he transferred 4 times. That shouldn't be a criteria to assume the worst. Bear was a 17 year old kid with a ton of recruiters offering him the world. Do you blame him for being immature? He could easily turn things around. Like a Bo Nix. Or maybe not. What do I care. If you've read my post you know that it is customary for me to wish every USC player that leaves the program well. I tend to follow them at their new destinations. Regardless if I think they are doing the right thing or not. I've seen alot of players move on from USC and take off. Valus Jones is a great example. He goes to Tennessee has a tremendous career as a WR and is now in the NFL. In the end we're dealing with people. Sports is entertainment. Bear is just one dude you cross paths with we don't have to kick him as he packs his bags.

Yeah, no to all of that. The guys in the NFL don't even get to pull this crap without paying a severe consequence for quitting when things are tough. If he can't handle the competition at UGA or USC, then how in the hell is going to deal with it in the NFL?

I didn't have the information about Bear and the car and all that. Now I do. I can't stand a shady person in general. Learning of his antics disappoints me. I am a USC fan, with a wisguy disposition, alot of what I post is satire and nonsense, I follow alot of teams, I live in Las Vegas now and its either UNLV or Nevada if I want to go to games. Being a CA native I have a soft spot for USC always will. I like Lincoln Riley and the staff. Even though I've taken shots at him for the Grinch gaslighting. I probably should take that down a knotch. It's his job to protect the program.
