I took it up because it was one of my favorite classes in FF Tactics, alongside the always memey assassin. Also, at the time people actually wanted them for utility, which was always a role I wanted to fill. I've actually skewed more towards DRK and pure dps now, since most of the heavy utility aspects of classes are gone.

Someone did this to me against a fate boss and I was SO confused. They just coup de grace the boss with a self destruct explosion and left before I could revive them

DPS are the chads of the classes. Brutal queue times, more competition making that commend feel special and knowing you're the one dragging everyone through that roulette grind as fast as you possibly can and hardly ever being appreciated for it. It's a thankless job for the true heroes.
You just said what I wanted to say. I have all jobs at 80 but dragoon has the most smooth rotation in most situations and it's like a loop easy and cool to do.
Your wordplay, and especially your enjoyment of it, always brings me life, but this one was especially good. The bard jokes, in particular. As a saxophonist, I've had many years of corny music jokes, but this was simply amazing throughout. :D
For me Pugilist/Monk was my starting job. I've used only this class all the way to Shadowbringers (along the way unlocking Samurai, Red Mage and Dark Knight to level up later). It has always been my #1 choice in mmo's (if given as a option) to pick a martial arts class. It's just a badass feeling i get when for example: someone needs a sword to kill a god like being, while me doing the same thing but using my bare fists and legs (and some ki control powers) to grant me victory, especially on FFXIV when you use Emperor's New Weapon glamour to make it more litteral.

I stopped being BLM after heavensward. Then switch to redmage then to dancer. I always look forward in dungeons if my dance partner is BLM. Got annoyed when their damage is bad. Then i realized, i should be doing damage if that annoys me. Went back to BLM. And now i love every minute of it.
Zepla is a Hero... Everytime she makes a bad pun you can just see her dieing a little inside for us, letting us just "enjoy?" them for ourselves while she takes in all the cringe. A true warrior of Darkness.
New player here! This video has taken some of the fear out of switching classes when that time comes. I'm currently a monk and loving it. I have my sights set on ROG/NIN after. Ninja looks complicated 😭 but I'm can't wait to get my Viera in a Kurenai cosplay!

I play Red Mage. It's a very easy to learn job. And I love paying attention to my mana gauge so I can make on the fly decisions about what skills to use next. I also love having Verraise so that I can help the healers and the party out without the anxiety of being a healer. I can raise half the party and then backflip off the platform or into a death wall with no shame.
Machinist has been my pet love to play through ShB with. It is a job that feels mechanical in its execution without any reliance on RNG. I'm surprised I haven't seen more MCH post upgrade.
Omg, I accidentally started the “create a clip” feature at 8:23 while driving and was forced to listen to the same 15 seconds like 30 times before I was able to stop it. But it’s Zepla talking and she’s very cute so it wasn’t that bad

My friends finally convinced me to play FFXIV with them just over a month or so ago and I'm so glad they did! Especially during times like this where we can't see each other but enjoy a wonderful game together :D Also so glad I found your videos, they've really helped me to understand classes/jobs more and helped me decide which one I want to try next (currently a White Mage). Blue Mage is fun! You wack opponents with a fish, then start debuffing and stunning them, then use instacast Primal attacks on them. Or you become a healer and use moogles and slimes to heal, buff, and cure your team.

Got dancer to 80 recently, and honestly, it's pretty darn fun. Probably my current favorite job since I basically don't have to press that many buttons, it all just kinda happens naturally
If someone hasn’t already done the full Legend of Zelda main theme as a bard, I’d be disappointed. But seriously there’s so many awesome classes in this game it’s crazy. Even if you were only on the free trial version, you’d still have many jobs and classes to work on that you would be able to play for months and not get bored. So far I’m very happy with this game and appreciate videos like this to tell about all these roles to play. 😄
Have you seen a lalafell ninja run? Unlike the others, when they have their weapons out, they look as though they're doing an airplane run with their arms spread out, which I find adorable. Their sprint animation is different too.
My main is Ninja and the reason I play it is because... well... I've always like the Rouge-like class in video games. Doesn't matter if it's Ninja, Assassin or anything along the lines of that I always pick it.

I've been having a blast with Machenist, Dragoon and I'm even leveling a Dance now... omg Dancers are SOOOOO fun, and just seeing the whirlwind of Chakra blades everywhere is awesome. I'm looking forward to trying Black Mage next... because.. BOOM EXPLOSIONS! 🤣
Samurai has amazing animations, ability names that remind me of FFXI, and since I don't have any utility it's my zen class. Meaning that I don't worry about the world and just focus on my beautiful moves and chill. 😎

My journey through dps has been lots of fun honestly, I was and always will be a tank main so I started out as red mage because I wanted to do some melee stuff as well as cast cool spells, it was my main for a long time but eventually I picked up machinist because nothing is more satisfying in a world of casters and martial arts than saying screw all that noise I cast gun, and now I find myself playing summoner because I really enjoy ordering my big screw off dragon to chuck a laser at someone
Your puns are the cutest. My best friend is getting into FFXIV from WoW and I’m jumping in right behind her. These videos have been a godsend. Thanks so much~
I play RDM for my DPS because I love the mobility. Castings spells and then dashing in to cut some fool is awesome. Then buffing my melee bois on the way out is sick. Also, as a practitioner of European sword arts, it's really cool that a lot of the melee attacks have names of techniques from those sword arts, even if they don't actually represent what those moves really are (looking at you, zwerchau). It's also cool to know that Aeris's voice actress plays red mage as well.
My take on each DPS class: MNK - "hehe fists go brrrrrrr" I looooove the rapid attacks, both animation and gcd. Each hit also feels like it hits harder with the sound effects and whatnot. Only thing I lack is a suitable glamour for them, since I use the invisible fists weapon glamour. DRG - Yes, the jumps. A ranged attack without being a ranged attack, while also already having a ranged attack by throwing the spear. One of the main reasons I vibe with them, aside from the Lv50 female job relic armor, is korean novels. They love to have their main protagonist use a spear. NIN - Yes, weebish, I know, but I just love the whole stealth facet of it. May not have much utility in the game, but in a real world scenario? they can do so much more. They also let me dual wield blades, and move around real fast, and as said, the flipping jumps. SAM - My favorite melee dps. I nearly cried during the HW set of job quests, that ending. I also love the aesthetic. They stand for honor, they are (depending on your outlook) humble, they are elegant, they just embody like... an honorable warrior. The whole bushido. Their glamours and animations are also elegant and have this finesse that I love. I'm also a huge fan of katana's specifically. BRD - I love music. Let's put it like that. I also like the bow aesthetic, though I wish the bows weren't so oversized and weirdly shaped all the time. BRD aesthetic is just so free and feels like a wanderer. Skills are fun to use too, once you get into the rhythm well. MCH - ... What can I say, I love the vibe of holding a single pistol and just obliterating the enemy. Balthier, anyone? i love the combination of Drill + Reassemble. rotations are simple and straightforward, and the MCH antiquated set (not the gunner set) looks damn fine, especially the goggles. Also, the newest weapon, where instead of a round barrel, its rectangular, gives me Alucard vibes and I love it. DNC - Hm, yes, finally, a ranged dps with an AoE that doesn't require a target. It feels fun to use dancer, running around while throwing out chakrams. A major like for me, for ranged dps, is the ability to attack on the run. BLM - it feels so complicated to me @_@ But i do like the proper magician vibe they have. I actually prefer Blizzard, coz I like cold rather than hot, but hey, the skills are what they are, I'll blow things up if needed. SMN - I feel so... not-dps as a SMN. The only time I feel like I'm actually doing something, is with Bahamut and Firebird Trance. The chestbursting attack is nice though. RDM - Ah, yes. I can't beat the shit out of you with magic without getting closer. I do like that jump in, combo, jump out, and the balancing of mana is fun. Performs well, don't like it much, but my favorite out of the magic dps. Just not a fan of rapiers, tbh >.> BONUS ROUND BLU - hehe missile go BRRRRRR, dragon voice go BZZZZZZZ, rams voice go BRRRRRRRR, i go BOOOM. Fate killer. I've learned that well the last few days.

About Samurai Pizza Cats: It's anime with interesting and mysterious story of american adaptation. It's my favorite anime, because of how much it destroys a four wall, and how different it is in comparison in typical anime. In FF XIV my character's name is Francine, and all my retainers are named by characters from SPC :P When I saw Kugane, it hit me so hard, how similiar it is to Little Tokyo.
Ahhh the way of the Katana is what drew me to the game.. seeing those Samurai animations made me think of my childhood watching Ruroni Kenshin, also my LB3 makes me feel like Ichigo when he is using Getsuga tensho
Dragoon is my first/only class so I don't have any to compare it with yet, but I picked it because I love the aesthetic of fighting with a spear. Lancer characters always seemed a nice mix of heroic and practical, and I was thrilled to discover that the class quests focus on this theme of bravery and level-headedness. I knew nothing about the aerial side of dragoon combat, so when I got my first jump attack and backflip, I knew right then and there I had chosen the perfect class for me. It's so satisfying leaping into the fight and hopping around the battle, and the jumps give me the freedom to dodge attacks or switch targets in the middle of a combo. I feel untouchable and relentless, backflipping out of an AOE and chucking a spear from outside the marker and then slamming back in to start a combo.
I loved this series both because it was entertaining but also very informative as a new player that knows NOTHING about the other classes. Great work, good puns, subbed.
I've mained tank for almost the entire time since 2.0. Been leveling other jobs and have gotten to DPS. I can't stand it waiting in que for 5 minutes to half an hour. I dunno how you guys do it. Additionally, I wish it was in the devs' power to give us the ability to que for 2-3 things at once so whatever pops first, we can do that.
Many red mage spell names are from are defensive moves as if rdm was actually designed to be a tank. Contre sixte is a defensive move in the sixth position, zwerchhau is a longsword parry into a circular counterattack, and moulinet is a fencing parry into a slashy thing.
I'm leveling for the first time. Just made it to SB. I'm maining WHM for the queue times. Was playing BRD, then SAM. Just got sick of having to wait to be able to progress the MSQ. Had a 45 minute queue and just got fed up lol.

I am absolutely loving White Mage right now. I'm a sprout so this is my first job ever and I feel so powerful in dungeons with the insane AOE heals. ( also the glamour is quite nice as well )

My friends finally convinced me to play FFXIV with them just over a month or so ago and I'm so glad they did! Especially during times like this where we can't see each other but enjoy a wonderful game together :D Also so glad I found your videos, they've really helped me to understand classes/jobs more and helped me decide which one I want to try next (currently a White Mage). Blue Mage is fun! You wack opponents with a fish, then start debuffing and stunning them, then use instacast Primal attacks on them.
Or you become a healer and use moogles and slimes to heal, buff, and cure your team.

If someone hasn’t already done the full Legend of Zelda main theme as a bard, I’d be disappointed. But seriously there’s so many awesome classes in this game it’s crazy. Even if you were only on the free trial version, you’d still have many jobs and classes to work on that you would be able to play for months and not get bored. So far I’m very happy with this game and appreciate videos like this to tell about all these roles to play. 😄

Have you seen a lalafell ninja run? Unlike the others, when they have their weapons out, they look as though they're doing an airplane run with their arms spread out, which I find adorable. Their sprint animation is different too.

Samurai has amazing animations, ability names that remind me of FFXI, and since I don't have any utility it's my zen class. Meaning that I don't worry about the world and just focus on my beautiful moves and chill. 😎

The bard's rotation is literally a never ending cycle. You can keep the rotation going if you learn when exactly you should switch into each song

My journey through dps has been lots of fun honestly, I was and always will be a tank main so I started out as red mage because I wanted to do some melee stuff as well as cast cool spells, it was my main for a long time but eventually I picked up machinist because nothing is more satisfying in a world of casters and martial arts than saying screw all that noise I cast gun, and now I find myself playing summoner because I really enjoy ordering my big screw off dragon to chuck a laser at someone

I play RDM for my DPS because I love the mobility. Castings spells and then dashing in to cut some fool is awesome. Then buffing my melee bois on the way out is sick. Also, as a practitioner of European sword arts, it's really cool that a lot of the melee attacks have names of techniques from those sword arts, even if they don't actually represent what those moves really are (looking at you, zwerchau). It's also cool to know that Aeris's voice actress plays red mage as well.
Something about the simplicity but sheer damage output of BLM makes me fall in love with it everytime I look at the different job in XIV.

Meh, I prefer the people that are playing without a bot. The talent some of the people in this game have is amazing.
My take on each DPS class:
MNK - "hehe fists go brrrrrrr" I looooove the rapid attacks, both animation and gcd. Each hit also feels like it hits harder with the sound effects and whatnot. Only thing I lack is a suitable glamour for them, since I use the invisible fists weapon glamour.
DRG - Yes, the jumps. A ranged attack without being a ranged attack, while also already having a ranged attack by throwing the spear. One of the main reasons I vibe with them, aside from the Lv50 female job relic armor, is korean novels. They love to have their main protagonist use a spear.
NIN - Yes, weebish, I know, but I just love the whole stealth facet of it. May not have much utility in the game, but in a real world scenario? they can do so much more. They also let me dual wield blades, and move around real fast, and as said, the flipping jumps.
SAM - My favorite melee dps. I nearly cried during the HW set of job quests, that ending. I also love the aesthetic. They stand for honor, they are (depending on your outlook) humble, they are elegant, they just embody like... an honorable warrior. The whole bushido. Their glamours and animations are also elegant and have this finesse that I love. I'm also a huge fan of katana's specifically.
BRD - I love music. Let's put it like that. I also like the bow aesthetic, though I wish the bows weren't so oversized and weirdly shaped all the time. BRD aesthetic is just so free and feels like a wanderer. Skills are fun to use too, once you get into the rhythm well.
MCH - ... What can I say, I love the vibe of holding a single pistol and just obliterating the enemy. Balthier, anyone? i love the combination of Drill + Reassemble. rotations are simple and straightforward, and the MCH antiquated set (not the gunner set) looks damn fine, especially the goggles. Also, the newest weapon, where instead of a round barrel, its rectangular, gives me Alucard vibes and I love it.
DNC - Hm, yes, finally, a ranged dps with an AoE that doesn't require a target. It feels fun to use dancer, running around while throwing out chakrams. A major like for me, for ranged dps, is the ability to attack on the run.
BLM - it feels so complicated to me @_@ But i do like the proper magician vibe they have. I actually prefer Blizzard, coz I like cold rather than hot, but hey, the skills are what they are, I'll blow things up if needed.
SMN - I feel so... not-dps as a SMN. The only time I feel like I'm actually doing something, is with Bahamut and Firebird Trance. The chestbursting attack is nice though.
RDM - Ah, yes. I can't beat the shit out of you with magic without getting closer. I do like that jump in, combo, jump out, and the balancing of mana is fun. Performs well, don't like it much, but my favorite out of the magic dps. Just not a fan of rapiers, tbh >.>
BONUS ROUND
BLU - hehe missile go BRRRRRR, dragon voice go BZZZZZZZ, rams voice go BRRRRRRRR, i go BOOOM. Fate killer. I've learned that well the last few days.

About Samurai Pizza Cats: It's anime with interesting and mysterious story of american adaptation. It's my favorite anime, because of how much it destroys a four wall, and how different it is in comparison in typical anime. In FF XIV my character's name is Francine, and all my retainers are named by characters from SPC :P When I saw Kugane, it hit me so hard, how similiar it is to Little Tokyo.

Ahhh the way of the Katana is what drew me to the game.. seeing those Samurai animations made me think of my childhood watching Ruroni Kenshin, also my LB3 makes me feel like Ichigo when he is using Getsuga tensho

Dragoon is my first/only class so I don't have any to compare it with yet, but I picked it because I love the aesthetic of fighting with a spear. Lancer characters always seemed a nice mix of heroic and practical, and I was thrilled to discover that the class quests focus on this theme of bravery and level-headedness. I knew nothing about the aerial side of dragoon combat, so when I got my first jump attack and backflip, I knew right then and there I had chosen the perfect class for me. It's so satisfying leaping into the fight and hopping around the battle, and the jumps give me the freedom to dodge attacks or switch targets in the middle of a combo. I feel untouchable and relentless, backflipping out of an AOE and chucking a spear from outside the marker and then slamming back in to start a combo.
DRG: I have a wonderful gift for you. Shall I give you dis spear?
BLM: HEY!

I've mained tank for almost the entire time since 2.0. Been leveling other jobs and have gotten to DPS. I can't stand it waiting in que for 5 minutes to half an hour. I dunno how you guys do it.
Additionally, I wish it was in the devs' power to give us the ability to que for 2-3 things at once so whatever pops first, we can do that.

Many red mage spell names are from are defensive moves as if rdm was actually designed to be a tank. Contre sixte is a defensive move in the sixth position, zwerchhau is a longsword parry into a circular counterattack, and moulinet is a fencing parry into a slashy thing.
When I see a Dragoon I know they’ll probably need extra heals or shields xD

I am absolutely loving White Mage right now. I'm a sprout so this is my first job ever and I feel so powerful in dungeons with the insane AOE heals. ( also the glamour is quite nice as well )
