I enjoy big two handed weapons but they are not as good as being a holy warrior.. Also the animations for warriors looked a little stupid when I was picking class. Probly still gonna try it.
I main DRK and my friend mains WHM so our que times are non existent. The worse that happens is we have to reque because the FOS were busy jacking while waiting for que.
I actually waited more than 4 hours of queue time because I didn't know there was a preferred languages settings at the duty finder, and mine was set ONLY TO ENGLISH. WHEN IM ACTUALLY IN JAPAN DATA CENTER. I only realized after 45 days. :D

I agree with this, but also sometimes not a very attractive librarian XD I main SCH and I get pretty jelly of the other healers artifact gear. Like c'mon, librarians can be sexy and nerdy at the same time!
@@PurpleFanatic Lack of good glamour and the gutting of our cooler attack skills made me drop mine as my main. One day maybe they'll be cool again T_T On the bright side it finally got me to try tanking. I can protect people this way.
Its not the GNB fault. We pop it preemtively. If I see im getting way to low like close to 1k im gonna pop bolide. Either way you got 6 secs to heal me up rather than a wipe for not using it.
tbh i find competent healers pretty frequently. . . maybe not in daily roulette but in most other content (though sometimes it's 1 healer hard carrying heals while the other pulls mini-dps numbers. . . but that's possible)
Because everyone has a different idea of what makes a healer competent. I’ll take an okay sprout healer over a super extreme savage vet healer any day of the week because healers that intentionally pull aggro cuase they sprinted out to the last group of mobs first while I was making sure I had everything’s attention on the way thier and force me to scramble to pull aggro drives me insane. Seriously wait four seconds for me to get there.

Any tips on how to be good? My strategy so far is this: 1) Keep the tank mostly at full HP - better to top him off with Cure than risk something unexpected happening while waiting for enough damage for Cure 2 or 3. 2) Stay out of harm’s way, let everyone else deal with the mobs. Occasionally cast an Aero or Fluid Aura on the boss if everybody’s fine HP-wise. No wasting precious casting time on offensive spells, someone might need healing! 3) In case things get hectic, priorities in healing order are as follows: tank>me>everyone else 4) Save Instacast for an emergency Cure 3 or Raise.
I love how WHM is split into two with : * I love WHM because it’s wholesome and fun and I get to be supportive and helpful VS *BlOoD FoR tHe bLoOd LiLy!!!
This isn't always the case. For public duties and other such events, DPS is definitely oversaturating the matchmaking. For Guildhest training, DPS is pretty in demand. Also, for higher level content with established groups, your more likely to fill a DPS slot than a tank/healer slot. Just depends on the activity. I do agree though, that for the majority of the time, tanks and healers are good to play if you're still going through story.
I always tell myself I'm not going to do healer... I always end up healing. Thank god I enjoy it.... although I'll be honest, I like RDM so I can super DPS, heal, raise.... and blind people worse than I could as WHM... Haedalyn bless RDM Lv3

Actually played so many MMOs where you only got a party for dungeons if you could convince your friends to join you. Chose CNJ so I could last if I had to solo a boss. Then found out the duty list and minimum player counts were a thing in FFXIV.
If you're planning on playing through the entire msq, Arcanist is probably the best starting class. You'd have dps qeue times for the first 3-4 dungeons, but then once you got to level 30 you could Sch your way into short qeue times for instances, and Smn your way through the overworld stuff with the higher dps.
So the Warrior is groot :) DPS: "Ok so we are gonna go in and ......" Warrior: "Fell Cleave?" Healer: "Right then I will heal you so that you can...." Warrior: "Fell Cleave" Other DPS: "Exactly I will get behind him then you....." Warrior: "FELL CLEAVE!!!!" Rest of team: "A perfectly balanced plan.....as it should be"

Ok so I love white mage because it feels good to save my friends against otherwise unsurvivable odds (also cuz I gets to shoot jesus lazers at all the things when not healing). I feel so tainted now, I had no idea so many other mages of the white were such sociopathic lunatics with some kind of twisted savior complex. I WIN HOLIEST OF THE HOLY!!! (that's right, fear me you insignificant bags of hp...) :D
Regarding WHM: This is true, but the former don't raid and the latter were driven to their insanity by EVERYBODY ELSE in their raids. And this is true of all healers, it just most apparent in WHM because we had the farthest to fall. You either quit happy, or you raid long enough to see yourself become the WHM.
I know this old but hear me out. Practice playing aggressive. Be side by side with the tank and maybe be the first to pull or pull extras and then regroup behind the tank and do as much damage while healing just what is required to keep people from dying. This will help you transition to tank and also teach to take charge. Edit: This is coming from a tank main that decided to main heals in FF14.
Scholar: Even with the dps kit simplified i still love the feeling of watching over the battle and pulling tricks out of my ass to keep the group alive.
it has become a game . . . how many people can i keep alive through ogcd's alone. . . make me stop casting broil and I'm rescuing you off the edge. (meanwhile pulling nearly top heals)
WHM main here and yeah I like being the overseer of the action, keeping an eye on my party, the mechanics and my own safety. I do my job and always do it well and my kink is that when all hope is lost, I bring the party back from total obliteration to pull off a win.

My best moment with pally was when our healer died at the start of the last fight in the 67 dungeon, and I carried the 2 dps til the end with clemency. i got all the commendations! :D

I rolled a pally in WoW and loved tanking. I meant to choose A Paladin for 14 but I forgot what they starting class was. I am so glad I made the mistake of choosing WAR.
One of the things that really stood out to me on Scholar is how militarian they felt in their play style. Everything is like a puzzle and it really makes you feel in control. Their lore and aesthetic is my favourite tbh
The Fact that none of my fellow White Mage Mains said "ASSIZE!!!!!".....like I literally yell that in discord constantly because it being an awesome AOE heal and damage, and also its literally named Ass Size........Also, Blood for the blood lily.
As a paladin, I love being that sword in the stone. Being the rock in which the entire fight revolves around. I make sure the entire battle is as stable as possible so my party don't need to have to adapt to constant changes. Also the paladins rotation is one of the most elegant in the game at this point, really showing off the stoic poise of the class when you effortlessly shift from physical to magic. The lack of burst damage sucks, but the consistency of it is unbeatable.

Please Rescue me as I am not in the presence of mind. I am merely as weak as one stone, I do need Asylum from powers I do not understand. I loved this video! Me and my friends started today and now I want to play all the classes! Astrologian will probably be my pick once I level up but man, that blood lily kinda calls for me. I watched a couple of "job overview" videos but learned way more from hearing what people on social media says rather than a quick overview of what the classes consist of. Thanks a bunch!
I was playing through amaurot one time. 3 of us died on the last boss after taking 10% of its health. Last one alive was the PLD. He effectively soloed the boss. I've been playing PLD ever since
I love playing sch/smn in this game. While this game doesn’t have my favorite implementation of sch, and I do feel it could be much better, it’s my favorite healing class. I love the strategic theory behind sch, but it feels slightly off in how it works. In ffxi (my first introduction to sch) I LOVED how everything was focused around “over time” spells such as helix spells and regens. That is what I’m most familiar with and would actually prefer if they shifted the jobs so that smn was more about upfront egi damage and sch more of a damage over time/heal over time tactician, but all the same I love this job. The inclusion of stratagems such as excogitation and adloquium make the job fun for me. I actually feel like I’m going into battles with a plan in mind and can make strategic adjustments when needed (but then when I actually get into battles I panic and forget everything LOL). That said, in keeping with the theme of preventative measures/strategy with sch I think it would be an excellent candidate for the lowest level of learning reraise followed by whm and then ast, or perhaps a unique reraise effect where they are at low hp but with a shield, then whm could reraise to full health etc. just food for thought for SE :3
When I first started playing, I was a whm main, because I grew up with the older FF's and that was just my favorite class. But then I got into dork knight and samurai, and I main all 3. I like pld as well, but I only leveled it so I could solo content
I like scholar especially when the level cap is raised, because i can gain 10 levels for summoner by doing daily roulettes as scholar (healer insta pop!) in like 3 days 😂
I was completly disgusted from healing classes in general since my little period on holy paladin in wow burning crusade, but the AST has a special this little touch in the design and the aesthetic that make me felt in love immediatly at the beginning of the job introduction quest. Since then i was reconciliated with healing classes, even if the first times was really though.

What I expected to do as a healer main - keep the party alive, deal damage during downtimes and buff party members. What I endend up doing as a healer main - pull the Black mage into the boss' AoE and watch him regret his life decisions. As Astrologian I literally throw cards at party members, which I may or may not have licked beforehand and they love it!
I just started playing ff14. Starting as a PLD. Love watching your vids. All have been helpful and you're not boring to watch. Very knowledgeable and your side comments crack me up. Thanks for being awesome.
The pally questlines are all over the place. The Gladiator build up is this whole "lone swordsman returns, hunted by criminals and outlaws" thing that's really . . . far from what you'd expect. While the main ARR pally line is a pretty darn traditional yarn about nobility and honor and such. And then, yeah, for like no reason: tournament arc!
SonofaGlitch The Main ARR Quest is the worst I’ve played so far. It introduces strong, then just spins it’s wheels for four quests before finally having a resolution.
I oddly enjoyed that questline, but the rest of the Pally ones felt like an incoherent afterthought, particularly the Heavensward ones. GNB was okay and of course DRK is the high watermark for all job quests. WAR is... eh. Entertaining enough but needs a bit more substance.
@@pjw1993 I enjoyed the plot of it. Tracking down a traitor was fun. But they did nothing with it. The first four quests as a PAL are "go here, light brazier, kill random mobs". The story doesn't progress at all until the final two quests, it just completely drops the main point of the story until then. DRG had a similar focus, but pulled the story off much better.
I posted this on another ffxiv video, but I feel it fits here really well too. I PLD main because I have a weird knight complex, but I love tanking in general, whatever the job. The reason, for me, is that there are few gaming experiences quite as thrilling as being the wall standing between the mobs and other real life players and knowing that if you play right and your backup has your back, you can't die no matter how hard the godmonsterthing tries.
Warrior: Lore wise, actually the edgiest class. Don't lose yourself to the beast within! Paladin: Strength from devotion to a cause higher than yourself. OATHS! Dark Knight: Taking the law into your own hands. Being true to your own heart. I have sin's aplenty, but not a single regret. GunBreak: A tradition of guardianship. Learning to forgive. Wht Mage: Empathy, not just with man, but with plant and beast as well. Astrologian: There is an entire nation that would rather I not exist. It used to be two. Scholar: Historian putting the lessons of the past into practice. If you can't tell. The lore is the thing that get's me hooked. I've mained dark knight for years, because I love it's story to pieces.
I love the Warrior story line to bits. All of it is just about putting your all into The Thing. And if you're all isn't enough, don't worry because you can train to become even greater! I just really love the constant raw honesty and sincerity of it all. There's never any beating around the bush. I don't know, it's just very refreshing for me. (Also Curious Gorge and his growth are the best fight me.)
I have mained GNB through Shadowbringers, and I have fallen in love with it. I usually main Scholar and sub main Paladin, but Gunbreaker has me not wanting to level my Pally because of all the rotations, I'm always doing something. I wish their oh shit shield didn't drop HP to 1, but other than that it is an amazing class
I play AST because I love how aesthetic the spell effects are. So pretty and beautiful. Also, it's unique as in other mmorpgs that I've played before never had a healer class like AST
PLD 4 lyfe. I love watching the party wipe and have to pick up the pieces and finish the fight on my own. But that usually doesn't happen since I won't let nobody hit MY team. PLD protecc
I was once the first type of WHM and slowly transformed to the second type after years of healing. Really relatable. An awesome video i laughed a lot haha.
I chose Warrior because, at the time, they had more HP than the other tanks. And I just thought that was awesome! Then Shadowbringers came out, and they removed that. I was devastated. :( I still play Warrior, but I don't feel as cool.
I do hope they rollback that change and gives the tanks each their own values of HP and defensive cooldowns. WAR going back to having the highest of course. It synergized that best with their self heals.
Personally I play WHM as my main healer because it feels much more powerful than the other two. At level 80 everything is about raw power and having instant for days. Also, being able to target the tank and spam holy, knowing they won't receive any damage for about 10 secs, and then being able to let their hp fell really low before topping them up with one or two clicks while keeping my dps is awesome. I've talked about raw power. Having access to Cure 3 and the Afflatus spells means your party won't be low of hp for long As one comment said in your video, raid damage? What raid damage? I just see my next Glare being casted! And then we have Assize, the instant skill that hits like a truck (for a healer) to every enemy around you, heal every idiot you are trying to keep from dying and restores a good chunk of your MP. That's another good point, by the way. WHM has virtually infinite MP. With the other healers I have to manage my mp. With the WHM I do that without thinking, Sometimes I press Thin Air just because I can, not because I need it. And of course, any healing I do is to nourish the Blood Lily, if I can help it. No, seriously, just today I was nagging at the DRK in the daily expert through Discord because he wasn't any damage and I was already at 3 Lilys, and I wanted to expend them to get Afflatus Misery ready. Getting a direct crit against a group of enemies with Afflatus Misery and letting the dps know who is the real killer in the group is awesome. Blood for the Blood Lily! Loot of the Loot Throne! Milk for the Cornflakes! About tanks, I have to say that PLD is my favorite. The fact that instead of a short burst of damage and a long time of recovery, like the other three tanks, they keep bursting with short periods of recovery, going from physical damage to magical, and popin cds to either defend itself, the party or both feels really good. Also being able to basically laughs at the enemy because their ultimate attack of planetary devastation didn't even dirt your armor after using Hallowed Ground is priceless. Besides that, the PLD questline in Stormblood was a tournament arc. And any anime fan know that those are always the best arcs (Yeah, I know, DRK questline is actually better, but frankly, I enjoyed that the questline was basically showing to the world that yes, you are the best in the arena).
With Paladin your basically Saber from Fate Stay night , I have to stop myself when I summon my giant sword from yelling ; Exsuuu....CALIBAAAAAAA!!!!!!! With white mage your basically Gandalf/Merlin from fate grand order, the wise and white robed wizard who protects everyone and guides the party with wisdom.
I play dark knight because I've been in love with the huge sword, plate armor, and dark magic aesthetic ever since I played Soul Calibur 2 as a kid. Also the story being great.
I really feel the second type for WHM. There was this BLM once that woudn't move and kept getting damaged plus needed to be esuna'd. So I didn't heal them to try and scare them to move. I gave up eventually and healed them XD.
I had a BLM that wouldn't stack, and I mentioned to my group (the DRG and DRK) that I'm a little annoyed at the BLM for not moving...ever. The boss was almost dead so, we stop all DPS on our end, that way the stack attack will come back. DRG gets the marker, DRK and I run the opposite direction as the DRG sprints at the BLM. Damn near killed him lol
Yep that's why I love rescue, totally throws them off so they actually start to move out the way (and off their Ley Lines) on their own. That and the "pity regen" works wonders :D!
@@anydaynow01 As a long time BLM player, I have to say that rescues just made me even more stubborn in staying in my spot, be it by skating back to my Ley Lines or by foot, or even keeping Surecast ready for whenever I know Rescue is off-cooldown again to stop it from working :P
@@sleepysera I let anyone who's not in heal range for aoe heals after raid wide dmg die tbh. You have a skill to zip in to any other player of the party for those, and then zip back to your ley lines, so idk if there's any good excuse to work with the healers instead of against them. I know accidents happen, that's fine. I know ppl might need time to learn new fights, also fine. But when there's no benefit to stay at max range for most fights(you should be standing with your team), I think that's a bad habit that some players need to break. BLM does have mobility with the teleporting stuff, good positioning, slide casting etc. It's easy to tell the difference between a player that is new, and one that is too lazy to move out of obvious aoe markers. The first one I will aid as much as they need, the second, not so much. :P
I'm working through all the classes (mostly to purge low level gear and get space back) but my main is PLD, with AST being my second, mostly because I play with my bf and we both like to switch off and support each other as tank/healer duo. This game is what made me discover my love of tanking, of drawing all the enemy attention and protecting my team, and having a really good heal as a pally has helped us through a lot of tough spots. Once upon a time recently we were doing a dungeon(don't quite remember which one, it was in Stormblood though since I was taking my pld through main story, it was likely ala mhigo against Zenos) At the final boss, my bf the healer and one dps got killed, leaving me and the other dps barely alive. I blew all my mana on clemency and popped damage mitting cooldowns consecutively until the dps finally finished the last 1/8th of it's health. It was amazing and feeling the rush of succeeding through near failure is such a high for me.

My favorite tank is definitely GNB, and in fact it's the only tank I think I'd consider, and it boils down to one thing: CONTINUATION. It just feels GOOD. Also, RIP AND TEAR. UNTIL IT IS DONE. The fact that they snuck in that Doom reference in one of the most satisfying combo rotations in the game is just... 👌

2) Stay out of harm’s way, let everyone else deal with the mobs. Occasionally cast an Aero or Fluid Aura on the boss if everybody’s fine HP-wise. No wasting precious casting time on offensive spells, someone might need healing!
3) In case things get hectic, priorities in healing order are as follows: tank>me>everyone else
4) Save Instacast for an emergency Cure 3 or Raise.

This isn't always the case. For public duties and other such events, DPS is definitely oversaturating the matchmaking. For Guildhest training, DPS is pretty in demand. Also, for higher level content with established groups, your more likely to fill a DPS slot than a tank/healer slot. Just depends on the activity. I do agree though, that for the majority of the time, tanks and healers are good to play if you're still going through story.

Actually played so many MMOs where you only got a party for dungeons if you could convince your friends to join you. Chose CNJ so I could last if I had to solo a boss. Then found out the duty list and minimum player counts were a thing in FFXIV.

If you're planning on playing through the entire msq, Arcanist is probably the best starting class. You'd have dps qeue times for the first 3-4 dungeons, but then once you got to level 30 you could Sch your way into short qeue times for instances, and Smn your way through the overworld stuff with the higher dps.

Regarding WHM: This is true, but the former don't raid and the latter were driven to their insanity by EVERYBODY ELSE in their raids. And this is true of all healers, it just most apparent in WHM because we had the farthest to fall.
You either quit happy, or you raid long enough to see yourself become the WHM.

I know this old but hear me out. Practice playing aggressive. Be side by side with the tank and maybe be the first to pull or pull extras and then regroup behind the tank and do as much damage while healing just what is required to keep people from dying. This will help you transition to tank and also teach to take charge.
Edit: This is coming from a tank main that decided to main heals in FF14.

WHM main here and yeah I like being the overseer of the action, keeping an eye on my party, the mechanics and my own safety. I do my job and always do it well and my kink is that when all hope is lost, I bring the party back from total obliteration to pull off a win.

I rolled a pally in WoW and loved tanking. I meant to choose A Paladin for 14 but I forgot what they starting class was. I am so glad I made the mistake of choosing WAR.
As a dps main: I play dragoon because he got hops, style and spikes. It lets me have metal, heavy-ish armour while being a dps that speeds around.
Everyone: you can't have a 700 dmg skill with only 20 second cooldown.

One of the things that really stood out to me on Scholar is how militarian they felt in their play style. Everything is like a puzzle and it really makes you feel in control. Their lore and aesthetic is my favourite tbh

As a paladin, I love being that sword in the stone. Being the rock in which the entire fight revolves around. I make sure the entire battle is as stable as possible so my party don't need to have to adapt to constant changes.
Also the paladins rotation is one of the most elegant in the game at this point, really showing off the stoic poise of the class when you effortlessly shift from physical to magic. The lack of burst damage sucks, but the consistency of it is unbeatable.
Sounds like I'll be starting WHM soon.
White mage can over heal if you're not paying attention, but man, when the poodu hits the fan, they can clean up.

I loved this video! Me and my friends started today and now I want to play all the classes! Astrologian will probably be my pick once I level up but man, that blood lily kinda calls for me. I watched a couple of "job overview" videos but learned way more from hearing what people on social media says rather than a quick overview of what the classes consist of. Thanks a bunch!
I was playing through amaurot one time. 3 of us died on the last boss after taking 10% of its health. Last one alive was the PLD. He effectively soloed the boss. I've been playing PLD ever since
I love playing sch/smn in this game. While this game doesn’t have my favorite implementation of sch, and I do feel it could be much better, it’s my favorite healing class. I love the strategic theory behind sch, but it feels slightly off in how it works. In ffxi (my first introduction to sch) I LOVED how everything was focused around “over time” spells such as helix spells and regens. That is what I’m most familiar with and would actually prefer if they shifted the jobs so that smn was more about upfront egi damage and sch more of a damage over time/heal over time tactician, but all the same I love this job. The inclusion of stratagems such as excogitation and adloquium make the job fun for me. I actually feel like I’m going into battles with a plan in mind and can make strategic adjustments when needed (but then when I actually get into battles I panic and forget everything LOL). That said, in keeping with the theme of preventative measures/strategy with sch I think it would be an excellent candidate for the lowest level of learning reraise followed by whm and then ast, or perhaps a unique reraise effect where they are at low hp but with a shield, then whm could reraise to full health etc. just food for thought for SE :3

I was completly disgusted from healing classes in general since my little period on holy paladin in wow burning crusade, but the AST has a special this little touch in the design and the aesthetic that make me felt in love immediatly at the beginning of the job introduction quest. Since then i was reconciliated with healing classes, even if the first times was really though.

What I expected to do as a healer main - keep the party alive, deal damage during downtimes and buff party members.
What I endend up doing as a healer main - pull the Black mage into the boss' AoE and watch him regret his life decisions.
As Astrologian I literally throw cards at party members, which I may or may not have licked beforehand and they love it!

The pally questlines are all over the place. The Gladiator build up is this whole "lone swordsman returns, hunted by criminals and outlaws" thing that's really . . . far from what you'd expect. While the main ARR pally line is a pretty darn traditional yarn about nobility and honor and such. And then, yeah, for like no reason: tournament arc!
SonofaGlitch The Main ARR Quest is the worst I’ve played so far. It introduces strong, then just spins it’s wheels for four quests before finally having a resolution.
I oddly enjoyed that questline, but the rest of the Pally ones felt like an incoherent afterthought, particularly the Heavensward ones. GNB was okay and of course DRK is the high watermark for all job quests. WAR is... eh. Entertaining enough but needs a bit more substance.
@@pjw1993 I enjoyed the plot of it. Tracking down a traitor was fun. But they did nothing with it. The first four quests as a PAL are "go here, light brazier, kill random mobs". The story doesn't progress at all until the final two quests, it just completely drops the main point of the story until then. DRG had a similar focus, but pulled the story off much better.

I PLD main because I have a weird knight complex, but I love tanking in general, whatever the job. The reason, for me, is that there are few gaming experiences quite as thrilling as being the wall standing between the mobs and other real life players and knowing that if you play right and your backup has your back, you can't die no matter how hard the godmonsterthing tries.
Warrior: Lore wise, actually the edgiest class. Don't lose yourself to the beast within!
Paladin: Strength from devotion to a cause higher than yourself. OATHS!
Dark Knight: Taking the law into your own hands. Being true to your own heart. I have sin's aplenty, but not a single regret.
GunBreak: A tradition of guardianship. Learning to forgive.
Wht Mage: Empathy, not just with man, but with plant and beast as well.
Astrologian: There is an entire nation that would rather I not exist. It used to be two.
Scholar: Historian putting the lessons of the past into practice.
If you can't tell. The lore is the thing that get's me hooked. I've mained dark knight for years, because I love it's story to pieces.
I love the Warrior story line to bits. All of it is just about putting your all into The Thing. And if you're all isn't enough, don't worry because you can train to become even greater!
I just really love the constant raw honesty and sincerity of it all. There's never any beating around the bush. I don't know, it's just very refreshing for me. (Also Curious Gorge and his growth are the best fight me.)

I was once the first type of WHM and slowly transformed to the second type after years of healing. Really relatable. An awesome video i laughed a lot haha.
I chose Warrior because, at the time, they had more HP than the other tanks. And I just thought that was awesome! Then Shadowbringers came out, and they removed that. I was devastated. :( I still play Warrior, but I don't feel as cool.

I do hope they rollback that change and gives the tanks each their own values of HP and defensive cooldowns. WAR going back to having the highest of course. It synergized that best with their self heals.
So you want -20% damage dealt back? You still have thrill and massive self healing sheesh. But yeah I agree the tank uniqueness is dwindling.

Personally I play WHM as my main healer because it feels much more powerful than the other two. At level 80 everything is about raw power and having instant for days. Also, being able to target the tank and spam holy, knowing they won't receive any damage for about 10 secs, and then being able to let their hp fell really low before topping them up with one or two clicks while keeping my dps is awesome.
I've talked about raw power. Having access to Cure 3 and the Afflatus spells means your party won't be low of hp for long As one comment said in your video, raid damage? What raid damage? I just see my next Glare being casted!
And then we have Assize, the instant skill that hits like a truck (for a healer) to every enemy around you, heal every idiot you are trying to keep from dying and restores a good chunk of your MP.
That's another good point, by the way. WHM has virtually infinite MP. With the other healers I have to manage my mp. With the WHM I do that without thinking, Sometimes I press Thin Air just because I can, not because I need it.
And of course, any healing I do is to nourish the Blood Lily, if I can help it. No, seriously, just today I was nagging at the DRK in the daily expert through Discord because he wasn't any damage and I was already at 3 Lilys, and I wanted to expend them to get Afflatus Misery ready. Getting a direct crit against a group of enemies with Afflatus Misery and letting the dps know who is the real killer in the group is awesome. Blood for the Blood Lily! Loot of the Loot Throne! Milk for the Cornflakes!
About tanks, I have to say that PLD is my favorite. The fact that instead of a short burst of damage and a long time of recovery, like the other three tanks, they keep bursting with short periods of recovery, going from physical damage to magical, and popin cds to either defend itself, the party or both feels really good. Also being able to basically laughs at the enemy because their ultimate attack of planetary devastation didn't even dirt your armor after using Hallowed Ground is priceless.
Besides that, the PLD questline in Stormblood was a tournament arc. And any anime fan know that those are always the best arcs (Yeah, I know, DRK questline is actually better, but frankly, I enjoyed that the questline was basically showing to the world that yes, you are the best in the arena).

I really feel the second type for WHM. There was this BLM once that woudn't move and kept getting damaged plus needed to be esuna'd. So I didn't heal them to try and scare them to move. I gave up eventually and healed them XD.
I had a BLM that wouldn't stack, and I mentioned to my group (the DRG and DRK) that I'm a little annoyed at the BLM for not moving...ever.
The boss was almost dead so, we stop all DPS on our end, that way the stack attack will come back.
DRG gets the marker,
DRK and I run the opposite direction as the DRG sprints at the BLM.
Damn near killed him lol
Yep that's why I love rescue, totally throws them off so they actually start to move out the way (and off their Ley Lines) on their own. That and the "pity regen" works wonders :D!
@@anydaynow01 As a long time BLM player, I have to say that rescues just made me even more stubborn in staying in my spot, be it by skating back to my Ley Lines or by foot, or even keeping Surecast ready for whenever I know Rescue is off-cooldown again to stop it from working :P
@@sleepysera I let anyone who's not in heal range for aoe heals after raid wide dmg die tbh. You have a skill to zip in to any other player of the party for those, and then zip back to your ley lines, so idk if there's any good excuse to work with the healers instead of against them. I know accidents happen, that's fine. I know ppl might need time to learn new fights, also fine. But when there's no benefit to stay at max range for most fights(you should be standing with your team), I think that's a bad habit that some players need to break. BLM does have mobility with the teleporting stuff, good positioning, slide casting etc. It's easy to tell the difference between a player that is new, and one that is too lazy to move out of obvious aoe markers. The first one I will aid as much as they need, the second, not so much. :P
I'm working through all the classes (mostly to purge low level gear and get space back) but my main is PLD, with AST being my second, mostly because I play with my bf and we both like to switch off and support each other as tank/healer duo. This game is what made me discover my love of tanking, of drawing all the enemy attention and protecting my team, and having a really good heal as a pally has helped us through a lot of tough spots. Once upon a time recently we were doing a dungeon(don't quite remember which one, it was in Stormblood though since I was taking my pld through main story, it was likely ala mhigo against Zenos) At the final boss, my bf the healer and one dps got killed, leaving me and the other dps barely alive. I blew all my mana on clemency and popped damage mitting cooldowns consecutively until the dps finally finished the last 1/8th of it's health.
It was amazing and feeling the rush of succeeding through near failure is such a high for me.

My favorite tank is definitely GNB, and in fact it's the only tank I think I'd consider, and it boils down to one thing: CONTINUATION. It just feels GOOD.
Also, RIP AND TEAR. UNTIL IT IS DONE. The fact that they snuck in that Doom reference in one of the most satisfying combo rotations in the game is just... 👌
