I'm genuinely flabbergasted by people calling glintstone arc bad. that shit carried me through pretty much every group of non-boss enemies in the game. literally never left my wheel
It's good because it's got a really low use/effectiveness floor, but it's also got a really low use/effectiveness ceiling, so it's not good for a lot of lategame stuff.
I thought it was bad because I never remembered to get Radagon's Icon in my mage playthrough. Coincidentally, I didn't remember Cerulean Hidden Tear nor did I even know that there was a dungeon under Raya Lucaria that contained one of the best spells in the game in Terra Magika

Glintstone arc is pretty sick actually. In PVE you can hit a bunch of small enemies following you, and in PVP you can use it very effectively to catch people running

Rock Blaster being good makes some sense honestly. Elden Ring's enemies take so damn long delaying their attacks that you can get in a ton of free rockblaster hits just monkeying under the boss's butt. It's just that you won't see anyone actually risking that as a mage because they'd rather stay far away, and half the time in melee people get caught trying to time dodges. If one simply monkeys with Rock Blaster, then they're getting in the damage while breaking poise xD
You're right, I've noticed that i tend to do better when risking melee with my mage. It's like the game punishes you for try to go the "safe ranged" route all the time lol we gotta get in the mud and get our hands dirty, so to speak
@@phoqueme between enemies being gods at dodging ranged attacks, and a lot of big bosses having pretty good ways to close gaps, I'd say you're right that there is no "safe range" a lot of the time.
@@phoqueme I beat the game yesterday, and the last 3 bosses I basically melee'd as a mage using Carian Slicer. I found that with like, Radagon for example, you can totally get in 2-3 hits while he's charging up his swing rather than wait until he finishes. It's funny, the game feels more rhythmic that way greeding hits during the wind-up rather than waiting until the afterswing.

I like to think that Rock Blaster is the Mage equivalent of the Ghiza Wheel without the bleed, the difference being that magic can be buffed to hell and doesn't require stamina in this case. I guess people slept on how strong this spell can be if set up properly and considering how early you can get and use this spell It's definitely worthy of getting more recognition.

It’s funny but Rock blaster combos well with rancorcall hitting at the same time you drill because it racks up poise for a poise break even faster. Rancor call hitting a shield can stun lock them aswell for rock blaster to true combo without worrying about getting hit out of there animation.
Surprised to see star shower here. It's an early, weaker stars of ruin, but it melts with multi casts and makes some early invader and knight-style enemies trivial when it staggers them. Same with Flintstone arc. Excellent against mobile enemies like pages and some bosses that like to dodge, plus some excellent crowd control for when you have to get rid of a crowd of nobles.
Star shower was MVP for some of the fights that were giving me trouble. When I was talking about Arc, I meant in the setting of a boss fight. Outside of that, it does have value in CC
I actually tested the damage between stars of ruin and star shower and star shower is way more cost effective. Oh and yeah glintstone arc is a godsend when you're getting overrun by little enemies.
Rancorcall and the juiced up version are some of my favorite spells. The balls don't do much damage on their own, but they almost always hit, and that chip damage adds up fast. Not to mention, they have one thing that no glintstone pebble can match: fashion.
Certainly a very interesting video, was fun to see that some of the "worst" sorceries aren't actually as bad as many people think! I'll definitely be adding Rock Blaster to my arsenal on my str/int character.
Playing a Sorcerer feels like having a big toolbox of oddball spells that'll trivialize different scenarios if you pick em right. And then a few that are just universally good. My favorite discovery so far: Glintblade Phalanx will stunlock rolling boulders for long enough that you can just walk out of the way. No awareness required lol.
I think ancient death rancor was placed higher, but rancorcall was placed pretty low since it's a "worse" version. None of them are bad by any stretch though!
Exactly, with a few items that spell absolutely wipes enemies and makes the game extremely easy imo. Stun-locks and poise-breaks for days. It felt like cheating when I used it with the Prince of Deaths staff
In my experience using both rancorcall and ancient death rancor, you can get more dps out of rancorcall because of its much lower fp cost, and lower stamina cost. Ancient death rancor didn't deal much more dmg over rancorcall to be worth an almost +100% fp cost above rancorcalls in my opinion, aswell as the fact that ancient death rancor fills much more of the screen, making it harder to see boss movements, which also means you could be blocking the sight of any hosts/co-opers your with. (screen clarity is more of a personal thing, i don't know how many other people care about that. I would assume you don't by the amount of people i see spamming breaths in fights like godfrey and malenia.) I do use them both one after the other though, it looks nice and ancient death rancors trail just looks great. Throw out a charged ancient death occasionally when the boss allows for extra thickness.
i always wished these spells got more love. a lot of them suck, not just because theyre niche use cases, but also because of the stats required. i liked rock blaster tho, didnt use it too much but it wasnt half bad. also i like your logic, checking multiple lists and using spells common between them
Gravity Well is such a funny spell especially with dangerous platforms, but you can just yoink most of the enemies off the platform and get all those souls

I find it strange that star shower was on the list, since it is even better than stats of ruin and with a dedicated build it can be the center spell of it, the hing is that multiple proyectile spells start to get god midgame to endgame. Also crystal torrent is worse than crystal barrage.
Interesting. I've used crystal torrent before and it was pretty good iirc. Never used barrage before this video though. Also the tier lists were likely put together quickly for the release of the game, so they probably weren't tested much.
The multi-projectile spells start bad and get worse the farther in the game you get. Stars of Ruin are only remotely usable because charging them makes them significantly more efficient than they otherwise would be, which still puts it below every single one of the single target single projectile spells in the game.

@@tragiic333 It's got among the worst FP to damage ratios in the entire game. In a game where the amount of FP you can use before dying or resting determines whether you can win fights at all.
Rock Blaster, Glintstone Arc, Meteorite, goddamn Star Shower, Crystal Barrage, Ancient Death Rancor, even the Magma spells, these were all solid to really good spells even on release but people were so wowed by Comet Azur in PvE and Stars of Ruin in PvP that they decided everything else was garbage as a result.
The sad part is, Comet Azur sucks. People just don't understand basic math or strategy. It has low dps, low damage per FP, has insane wind-up, will never hit any opponent smaller than a building, won't hit building sized opponents for more than couple damage ticks before they simply move out of the way. Stars of Ruin is likewise a lackluster spell, but it at least will hit the enemy. Not for respectable damage, but at least it's more than zero.

This is exactly why i love challenge runs of any souls game. Everything will have its meta, the spells, the weapons, the rings/talismans, whatever, due to lower damage, stat requirements, etc. So most people will just pass a big chunk of content cause they either heard its shit on the internet, or they already have a build that theyre confortable with. But when you impose a challenge on yourself, a whole new world of possibility opens up. You may find a new weapon with a moveset you really love, that you wouldnt have paid any attention to otherwise. Or you may come up with a whole new style of play that is suited for this specific spell youre using. Playing based on the meta can be fun, but there is a ton of enjoyment to be had when someone is willing to step out of their comfort zone.
Challenge runs definitely keep the game from getting stale for me. With a fair amount of playthroughs under my belt, I still have so much fun playing in alternative ways.
I wish we had more tibia spells. (Id also make fias mist a incantation to go with death lightning) Make a tibia vanguard where a pike skeleton will spawn in front of you and use charge forth to track your enemy, or a tibian champion that will spawn a sword and shield skeleton in front of you, blocking as long as you held the spell with a set guard strength that can be broken until you release it and the skeleton does a shield bash. Or even make a spell similar to the plasudisax dragon incant with the Lazer giant skeleton.
Absolutely! I'm on board with all these ideas! They added so many "schools" of sorcery but only added a couple spells to each of them. I want more thorn sorceries too!
I love how there are 13 dragon communion spells, but 2 oracle spells. I could totally vibe with the Great Oracular Bubble ash of war as a sorcery. Get a third Clayman sorcery and a holy dmg option for sorceries. Maybe even the rot puke from the Cleanrot Knights as a Servant of Rot incantation. Sooooo much creative potential in the magic schools.

@@samfish2550 You mean pest threads? It already exists in the game you buy it from gowry after advancing to a certain step in Millicents questline. It shoots multiple homing thread like stabbing projectiles just like theirs.
I love rock blaster, I feel the only reason it's low for sorceries is because you usually don't want to get close up while being a sorc, very squishy if you go all out sorc. Also 100% starlight and glint arc where my go to spells for early game on my first playthrough, I wish starlight would have been till death, love the lantern but starlight made caves so nice and bright.
Okay but crystal barrage and crystal burst (the one you get from demi human ruins) which sadly both don't get buffed by the crystalian staff are CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED, the gattling gun spell that early in the game that can be decent into late game against slower moving enemies and the burst spell acts as an absolute shotgun at close range in pvp
Lore Accurate explanation for why Rock Blaster was so good against Plasidusax: Dragons have stone scales, and that spell is designed to break stone apart.
Rock Blaster got buffed at some point, so most tier lists with it being bad are most likely from a previous patch when it actually sucked. This definitely applied to Starlight as it only lasted 60 seconds initially, not it lasts three minutes.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 The damage wasn't the issue, iirc it was the lack of hyper-armor or a pitiful amount of hyper-armor for a spell that left you VERY exposed before being buffed (1.04, where it got more hyper-armor and improved recovery speed). The hyper-armor buff is what got the spell into a good place. Also with how fast a lot of the bosses are, it can be an issue.
@@AceAviations2 The spell has always done a good amount of poise damage at a rapid rate while charging it. It doesn't need hyper armor because you're not getting hit, you keep the enemy stunned by the continuous damage until the big boom. It was never meant to be a big damage boss killer. It's for handling melee mobs, something pure sorcerers struggle with.
Yeah, I hadn't used it before so I didn't know how good it was. I think the tier list makers see Meteorite of Astel and assume that Meteorite is just "bad" by comparison. Definitely not a bad spell at all
Meteorite isn't as consistent as Astel's, because the meteors don't come out in as much volume or frequency. However, early on it is very good. But the moment Astel's is available, it is immediately overshadowed. At least, this was my experience finding and testing all spells I found.
Rock blaster aside, most of these didn't seem that bad. Even if some of them might be a bit slow for bosses, I would definitely use quite a lot of these for regular mobs.
As I've played more and more Elden Ring, I feel like a solid 90% of the "bad" spells, incantations and weapons aren't actually genuinely bad, they are just pretty niche, it's just that the "good" spells are SO good that you have to be intentionally hamstring yourself by not using them. Some are genuinely bad though...
The problem with most of these is that there is a spell that does what they do better. Collapsing Stars > Gravity Well; Ancient Death Rancor > Rancorcall etc..
I'm definitely going to grab everything on my current run just to check them out. Not really set up as a mage (started as Confessor, so went with a hybrid build, but since I really just started playing within the last month or so and this is my first FromSoft game, I'm definitely still learning how things work).

Glintstone Arc helped me deal with some bosses or enemies that try to avoid projectiles and sorceries, if you catch them early or have to dodge in the other direction to bait them. Also groups of enemies, which is more FP efficient for the damage you deal in a group than other Glintstone sorceries.
I did a magic fire build once towards the end of game and I swear it was the best. Between magma shot and the lava one if you have high FP you can just spam and fill a room with lava
rancor/deathrite spells do frost and magic damage split. they were all nerfed when frost proc got nerfed, especially since they do barely any proc to begin with.
I'm a little late to the party but the Briar sorceries are actually very powerful and super fun to play with if you build exclusively around them. Double Guilty staffs, both Graven talismans, Golden Vow, Alberich's Armor, Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear, lots of faith and you're good. No Arcane investment needed. You don't even need Golden Vow.
Nice video. Its always great to see a small youtuber get a big hit video. The only thing I could think of is that Rhesus's axe has the ash of war of tibia's summons, but it takes somber stones and only upgraded to +3 or 4 it absolutely melted bosses if all the skele bros hit
Honestly Gravity Well is only rated bad because Collapsing Stars is a strict upgrade to it in both overall damage and tracking (without even really a proper build for it I could get Gravity Well to do about 1.4k fully charged but with the same build Collapsing Stars did closer to 1.9k and basically never missed), same problem with Meteorite compared to Meteorite of Astel really.
I think that's the reason for the placement of a lot of the spells that're considered "bad." Authors of the lists see that there's an upgraded version and assume the worse version isn't worth the hassle.
Worst by far has to be Night Maidens mist. It does small amounts of direct damage in the cloud with no kind of status build up and as far as I know it still can harm friendly summons
Night Maiden's Mist will cheese the early game. It's the most FP efficient spell for sorcerers below 80 INT. Doing over 1000 damage with one cast, and you don't have to put yourself into harm's way to use it? It doesn't actually get outpaced until you unlock Comet and get either Lusat's or the Royal scepter to +9. It's one of the best spells in the game. As a fun bonus, you can damage Rennala while she's in her bubble with it. It's really funny.
@@sweeeeeeeeeeeeee It's the opposite. Night Maiden's Mist is what allows an INT build to actually accomplish anything in the early game. It falls off the moment sorcery is even remotely viable as an offensive strategy.

How did so many people have Rock Blaster on their list? Spell seems pretty dumby strong once you get the mind the use it for more than 2 seconds. Obviously not as powerful as the kamehameha beam that needs 60 int to use but still holds its own.
I wouldn't call it a bad spell, but it certainly has it's limits. I was thinking in the sense of using it for a boss fight, there's better options. If you do enemy multiplier runs, it's extremely handy for mowing down hordes. Also, you're absolutely right, it's good at what it does.
Thorn Sorceries actually do good work. Specifically Briars of Punishment. Long range, okay tracking, good damage, spammable, bleed, and it has a dedicated Faith scaling Staff. The issue is it's a Faith sorcery which means it's only good for Faith casters, and to maximise it you'd need to use Sorcery/Magic Damage talismans which don't synergise with a Faith caster. But the damage against anything not resistant to Magic that can bleed is actually pretty good. Briars of Sin is definitely not amazing, but it can have situational utility. It has a lot of stagger power, and a decent amount of hyper armour, so it can be useful against groups of enemies, but the base cast speed is very slow, and it has to compete with Incantations like Wrath of Gold, which deals a ton of damage with shorter cast time. It can be chained, however, which means if it can stagger the enemy then it can get all 3 hits off.
How long was the list you ended up with? You used a fair few, even if Rock Blaster was a clear favourite for obvious reasons, but you kept using the Tibia one which is by far one of the worst *designed* spells; no tracking, mediocre damage which is also variable, slow as molasses, fairly small hitbox
It was everything you saw me use in the video except for night maiden's mist and Great oracular bubble(good spell). There were more spells that don't do damage, like fia's mist and unseen body but I didn't bother with those for obvious reasons.
Some patches ago, Rock blaster was even more useful. There was a glitch that will let you use magic without using FP, as long as you use it before 3 or 4 seconds (which is enough to get at least 1000 damage with rock blaster at very close range) if your right hand was empty/no weapon and the left hand the catalyst, . I was planning to make a run with only using that but it got patch after i discorvered it, i had fun testing it tho. Also, shatter earth (the other version of the spell) was also pretty damn good with this glitch
I don't remember if I mentioned it in the video, but I did say that on stream. I wanted to use the alibinauric staff with alberich set but rock blaster too op
@@vaskopoh9512 that's not true. Their bleed buildup is massively affected. Go watch fextralife's thorn build, you can proc bleed on basically every other cast with these spells. Their damage with bleed is nothing to scoff at and their main advantage is allowing arcane builds to have a good option for super long range as well as aoe

rock blaster is way too underrated. it’s situational af but if you can build around it, it’s legit one of the top tier close ranged spells

The winged sword talisman is what's bumping rock blaster up to insane levels. Fun fact, it stacks with Milicent's Prosthesis for even more insanity
Swap it out for rotten swords and the Prothesis and instakill weapon

It’s funny but Rock blaster combos well with rancorcall hitting at the same time you drill because it racks up poise for a poise break even faster. Rancor call hitting a shield can stun lock them aswell for rock blaster to true combo without worrying about getting hit out of there animation.
It's all fun and games until your opponent whips out the drill in PvP. Then you know they mean business
Surprised to see star shower here. It's an early, weaker stars of ruin, but it melts with multi casts and makes some early invader and knight-style enemies trivial when it staggers them. Same with Flintstone arc. Excellent against mobile enemies like pages and some bosses that like to dodge, plus some excellent crowd control for when you have to get rid of a crowd of nobles.
Star shower was MVP for some of the fights that were giving me trouble. When I was talking about Arc, I meant in the setting of a boss fight. Outside of that, it does have value in CC

I actually tested the damage between stars of ruin and star shower and star shower is way more cost effective. Oh and yeah glintstone arc is a godsend when you're getting overrun by little enemies.

Star Shower is actually better than Stars of Ruin atm, Stars of Ruin has horrible tracking whereas Star Shower has great tracking.
Rancorcall and the juiced up version are some of my favorite spells. The balls don't do much damage on their own, but they almost always hit, and that chip damage adds up fast. Not to mention, they have one thing that no glintstone pebble can match: fashion.
They do decent poise damage also. And you can cast multiple of them, before they even agro the target - used them most of the game.
I'm kinda in love with this concept, and just how stupid The Blaster was in so many fights.

Playing a Sorcerer feels like having a big toolbox of oddball spells that'll trivialize different scenarios if you pick em right. And then a few that are just universally good.
My favorite discovery so far: Glintblade Phalanx will stunlock rolling boulders for long enough that you can just walk out of the way. No awareness required lol.

Rancorcall is the bad one. Ancient Death Rancor is a strict upgrade and it's why Rancorcall is placed so low.
Exactly, with a few items that spell absolutely wipes enemies and makes the game extremely easy imo. Stun-locks and poise-breaks for days. It felt like cheating when I used it with the Prince of Deaths staff
In my experience using both rancorcall and ancient death rancor, you can get more dps out of rancorcall because of its much lower fp cost, and lower stamina cost. Ancient death rancor didn't deal much more dmg over rancorcall to be worth an almost +100% fp cost above rancorcalls in my opinion, aswell as the fact that ancient death rancor fills much more of the screen, making it harder to see boss movements, which also means you could be blocking the sight of any hosts/co-opers your with. (screen clarity is more of a personal thing, i don't know how many other people care about that. I would assume you don't by the amount of people i see spamming breaths in fights like godfrey and malenia.)
I do use them both one after the other though, it looks nice and ancient death rancors trail just looks great. Throw out a charged ancient death occasionally when the boss allows for extra thickness.
i always wished these spells got more love. a lot of them suck, not just because theyre niche use cases, but also because of the stats required. i liked rock blaster tho, didnt use it too much but it wasnt half bad. also i like your logic, checking multiple lists and using spells common between them

Gravity Well is such a funny spell especially with dangerous platforms, but you can just yoink most of the enemies off the platform and get all those souls

You should do a tier list of all of THESE spells. Rock blaster S+ tier. And I think the ones you looked at are mostly for pvp

Just use the comet Azur filter: if comet Azur is not at the bottom then it probably isnt a PvP tier list

I find it strange that star shower was on the list, since it is even better than stats of ruin and with a dedicated build it can be the center spell of it, the hing is that multiple proyectile spells start to get god midgame to endgame. Also crystal torrent is worse than crystal barrage.
Interesting. I've used crystal torrent before and it was pretty good iirc. Never used barrage before this video though. Also the tier lists were likely put together quickly for the release of the game, so they probably weren't tested much.
The multi-projectile spells start bad and get worse the farther in the game you get. Stars of Ruin are only remotely usable because charging them makes them significantly more efficient than they otherwise would be, which still puts it below every single one of the single target single projectile spells in the game.

@@tragiic333 It's got among the worst FP to damage ratios in the entire game. In a game where the amount of FP you can use before dying or resting determines whether you can win fights at all.

Rock Blaster, Glintstone Arc, Meteorite, goddamn Star Shower, Crystal Barrage, Ancient Death Rancor, even the Magma spells, these were all solid to really good spells even on release but people were so wowed by Comet Azur in PvE and Stars of Ruin in PvP that they decided everything else was garbage as a result.
The sad part is, Comet Azur sucks. People just don't understand basic math or strategy. It has low dps, low damage per FP, has insane wind-up, will never hit any opponent smaller than a building, won't hit building sized opponents for more than couple damage ticks before they simply move out of the way. Stars of Ruin is likewise a lackluster spell, but it at least will hit the enemy. Not for respectable damage, but at least it's more than zero.

This is exactly why i love challenge runs of any souls game. Everything will have its meta, the spells, the weapons, the rings/talismans, whatever, due to lower damage, stat requirements, etc. So most people will just pass a big chunk of content cause they either heard its shit on the internet, or they already have a build that theyre confortable with. But when you impose a challenge on yourself, a whole new world of possibility opens up. You may find a new weapon with a moveset you really love, that you wouldnt have paid any attention to otherwise. Or you may come up with a whole new style of play that is suited for this specific spell youre using. Playing based on the meta can be fun, but there is a ton of enjoyment to be had when someone is willing to step out of their comfort zone.
Challenge runs definitely keep the game from getting stale for me. With a fair amount of playthroughs under my belt, I still have so much fun playing in alternative ways.
I wish we had more tibia spells. (Id also make fias mist a incantation to go with death lightning)
Make a tibia vanguard where a pike skeleton will spawn in front of you and use charge forth to track your enemy, or a tibian champion that will spawn a sword and shield skeleton in front of you, blocking as long as you held the spell with a set guard strength that can be broken until you release it and the skeleton does a shield bash. Or even make a spell similar to the plasudisax dragon incant with the Lazer giant skeleton.
Absolutely! I'm on board with all these ideas! They added so many "schools" of sorcery but only added a couple spells to each of them. I want more thorn sorceries too!
I love how there are 13 dragon communion spells, but 2 oracle spells. I could totally vibe with the Great Oracular Bubble ash of war as a sorcery. Get a third Clayman sorcery and a holy dmg option for sorceries. Maybe even the rot puke from the Cleanrot Knights as a Servant of Rot incantation. Sooooo much creative potential in the magic schools.

I love rock blaster, I feel the only reason it's low for sorceries is because you usually don't want to get close up while being a sorc, very squishy if you go all out sorc.
Also 100% starlight and glint arc where my go to spells for early game on my first playthrough, I wish starlight would have been till death, love the lantern but starlight made caves so nice and bright.

Okay but crystal barrage and crystal burst (the one you get from demi human ruins) which sadly both don't get buffed by the crystalian staff are CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED, the gattling gun spell that early in the game that can be decent into late game against slower moving enemies and the burst spell acts as an absolute shotgun at close range in pvp

Lore Accurate explanation for why Rock Blaster was so good against Plasidusax:
Dragons have stone scales, and that spell is designed to break stone apart.
Rock Blaster got buffed at some point, so most tier lists with it being bad are most likely from a previous patch when it actually sucked. This definitely applied to Starlight as it only lasted 60 seconds initially, not it lasts three minutes.
They never touched the damage though. That kill on placidusax would've worked on launch day. It's definitely seen some substantial buffs though!
Rock Blaster was a very good spell on the game's release.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 The damage wasn't the issue, iirc it was the lack of hyper-armor or a pitiful amount of hyper-armor for a spell that left you VERY exposed before being buffed (1.04, where it got more hyper-armor and improved recovery speed). The hyper-armor buff is what got the spell into a good place. Also with how fast a lot of the bosses are, it can be an issue.
@@AceAviations2 The spell has always done a good amount of poise damage at a rapid rate while charging it. It doesn't need hyper armor because you're not getting hit, you keep the enemy stunned by the continuous damage until the big boom. It was never meant to be a big damage boss killer. It's for handling melee mobs, something pure sorcerers struggle with.
Meteorite is considered consistently weak? That impressed me, I used it to one shot a lot of endgame bosses when the game came out
Yeah, I hadn't used it before so I didn't know how good it was. I think the tier list makers see Meteorite of Astel and assume that Meteorite is just "bad" by comparison. Definitely not a bad spell at all
Meteorite isn't as consistent as Astel's, because the meteors don't come out in as much volume or frequency. However, early on it is very good. But the moment Astel's is available, it is immediately overshadowed.
At least, this was my experience finding and testing all spells I found.
Rock blaster aside, most of these didn't seem that bad. Even if some of them might be a bit slow for bosses, I would definitely use quite a lot of these for regular mobs.

As I've played more and more Elden Ring, I feel like a solid 90% of the "bad" spells, incantations and weapons aren't actually genuinely bad, they are just pretty niche, it's just that the "good" spells are SO good that you have to be intentionally hamstring yourself by not using them.
Some are genuinely bad though...

The problem with most of these is that there is a spell that does what they do better. Collapsing Stars > Gravity Well; Ancient Death Rancor > Rancorcall etc..
I'm definitely going to grab everything on my current run just to check them out. Not really set up as a mage (started as Confessor, so went with a hybrid build, but since I really just started playing within the last month or so and this is my first FromSoft game, I'm definitely still learning how things work).

Glintstone Arc helped me deal with some bosses or enemies that try to avoid projectiles and sorceries, if you catch them early or have to dodge in the other direction to bait them. Also groups of enemies, which is more FP efficient for the damage you deal in a group than other Glintstone sorceries.
I did a magic fire build once towards the end of game and I swear it was the best. Between magma shot and the lava one if you have high FP you can just spam and fill a room with lava

rancor/deathrite spells do frost and magic damage split. they were all nerfed when frost proc got nerfed, especially since they do barely any proc to begin with.

Something you could've done for Rock Blaster is use two Digger Staves for a really high boost to that spell
I'm a little late to the party but the Briar sorceries are actually very powerful and super fun to play with if you build exclusively around them. Double Guilty staffs, both Graven talismans, Golden Vow, Alberich's Armor, Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear, lots of faith and you're good. No Arcane investment needed. You don't even need Golden Vow.

Nice video. Its always great to see a small youtuber get a big hit video. The only thing I could think of is that Rhesus's axe has the ash of war of tibia's summons, but it takes somber stones and only upgraded to +3 or 4 it absolutely melted bosses if all the skele bros hit

Honestly Gravity Well is only rated bad because Collapsing Stars is a strict upgrade to it in both overall damage and tracking (without even really a proper build for it I could get Gravity Well to do about 1.4k fully charged but with the same build Collapsing Stars did closer to 1.9k and basically never missed), same problem with Meteorite compared to Meteorite of Astel really.
I think that's the reason for the placement of a lot of the spells that're considered "bad." Authors of the lists see that there's an upgraded version and assume the worse version isn't worth the hassle.
Worst by far has to be Night Maidens mist. It does small amounts of direct damage in the cloud with no kind of status build up and as far as I know it still can harm friendly summons
It was on my list of spells to use, but I never got around to collecting it, since it's kind of a pain to get.
Night Maiden's Mist will cheese the early game. It's the most FP efficient spell for sorcerers below 80 INT. Doing over 1000 damage with one cast, and you don't have to put yourself into harm's way to use it? It doesn't actually get outpaced until you unlock Comet and get either Lusat's or the Royal scepter to +9. It's one of the best spells in the game. As a fun bonus, you can damage Rennala while she's in her bubble with it. It's really funny.

@@sweeeeeeeeeeeeee It's the opposite. Night Maiden's Mist is what allows an INT build to actually accomplish anything in the early game. It falls off the moment sorcery is even remotely viable as an offensive strategy.

How did so many people have Rock Blaster on their list? Spell seems pretty dumby strong once you get the mind the use it for more than 2 seconds. Obviously not as powerful as the kamehameha beam that needs 60 int to use but still holds its own.
Exactly. It also doesn't use stamina after the initial cast like Comet Azur does, so you cast it as long as you have FP!
Because those were clearly old lists before the buffs...

It can be a little clunky to use at first, but once you get familiar with the spell, it's a damn powerhouse.
Gotta say I disagree about arc being a bad spell it cleaves through crowds and carried me through the early game in my first play through
I wouldn't call it a bad spell, but it certainly has it's limits. I was thinking in the sense of using it for a boss fight, there's better options. If you do enemy multiplier runs, it's extremely handy for mowing down hordes. Also, you're absolutely right, it's good at what it does.
Thorn Sorceries actually do good work. Specifically Briars of Punishment. Long range, okay tracking, good damage, spammable, bleed, and it has a dedicated Faith scaling Staff. The issue is it's a Faith sorcery which means it's only good for Faith casters, and to maximise it you'd need to use Sorcery/Magic Damage talismans which don't synergise with a Faith caster. But the damage against anything not resistant to Magic that can bleed is actually pretty good.
Briars of Sin is definitely not amazing, but it can have situational utility. It has a lot of stagger power, and a decent amount of hyper armour, so it can be useful against groups of enemies, but the base cast speed is very slow, and it has to compete with Incantations like Wrath of Gold, which deals a ton of damage with shorter cast time. It can be chained, however, which means if it can stagger the enemy then it can get all 3 hits off.
I love how rock blaster sounds like those machines that drill the road and I love it. High key would use it for actual playing/meme builds

How long was the list you ended up with? You used a fair few, even if Rock Blaster was a clear favourite for obvious reasons, but you kept using the Tibia one which is by far one of the worst *designed* spells; no tracking, mediocre damage which is also variable, slow as molasses, fairly small hitbox
It was everything you saw me use in the video except for night maiden's mist and Great oracular bubble(good spell). There were more spells that don't do damage, like fia's mist and unseen body but I didn't bother with those for obvious reasons.

Some patches ago, Rock blaster was even more useful. There was a glitch that will let you use magic without using FP, as long as you use it before 3 or 4 seconds (which is enough to get at least 1000 damage with rock blaster at very close range) if your right hand was empty/no weapon and the left hand the catalyst, . I was planning to make a run with only using that but it got patch after i discorvered it, i had fun testing it tho.
Also, shatter earth (the other version of the spell) was also pretty damn good with this glitch

@@vaskopoh9512 that's not true. Their bleed buildup is massively affected. Go watch fextralife's thorn build, you can proc bleed on basically every other cast with these spells. Their damage with bleed is nothing to scoff at and their main advantage is allowing arcane builds to have a good option for super long range as well as aoe

Briars of Punishment is blatantly one of the best PvE spells in the game.
And Briars of Sin is OP in PVP.
@vaskopoh9512 And like the other guy said, they absolutely do have big bleeding, no idea why you would think they do low bleed.
