I was very ill at the time but am now much better from that dark hole 🕳️ where I was. I had suicidal thoughts and even suicidal ideations cause you just want the emptiness and pain to cease somehow when nothing else seems to working out. But fortunately for me I let those around me who I felt trust toward know and was able to survive. Cause depression and mental illness is a battle, I mean your like lucky if you make it out alive and sane. Many people say being a survivor is like overcoming a traumatic event or recovering from Cancer but so is not letting your biggest fears control you and stop you from living your given life. i lost my father 7weeks before i was released from prison. i was gone for 4 years and my dad and i talked all the time and we were planning on my home coming. he was waiting for me, im his only child....he had a stroke and that put me in this tail spin of fear and panic...he pulled through with gods grace...and then he had a massive stroke and we had to respect his wishes and let him go. that has swept me off my feet and im still trying to find my way back..to home. im here but im really not...not anymore. YOUR SONG IS BEAUTIFUL AND IVE SENT IT TO MY KIDS AND FAMILY. its made me feel again and i thank you so much for that. you have opened up my ability to feel again...thank you god bless you, sarah

I'm limited at outlets for encouragement cuz there's no trained therapists or groups for Retired Fire Fighters striken with PTSD and night terrors. Being an OTR truck driver your worst enemy is yourself. Mental health is real as I am learning more about it everyday. Talk to someone! Everyone has demons and if left unattended to they win. Don't let them win.
Truck driver here as well. No longer otr but still putting plenty of seat time in. We have a lot of alone time in the truck. Anything that was bothering you at home just builds and festers in the truck. Then you have extensive time away from home. You miss a lot. I missed much of my children's youth. Sure, they have a good life as a result but mentally it was hard. Add in traffic, dumb drivers, crappy shippers/ receivers and you have a perfect storm for mental health decline. It is a hard job. People just don't understand. I myself started focusing more on keeping the stress down. I slowed down and started trying to enjoy the travel, sights, and the experiences that otr brings. Sometimes I miss otr. If.you need an ear I'm here to listen. I was fortunate to have a senior driver do the same for me years ago. Nobody understands better than somebody that's been there. I am 13 years deep at this point.

*Too bad the one on AGT was much better imo... this one lacked the harmonization and felt over produced. They just did their own separate parts and sounded like the voices were blended in the studio afterward. It would be awesome if they release the AGT version.*

i lost my father 7weeks before i was released from prison. i was gone for 4 years and my dad and i talked all the time and we were planning on my home coming. he was waiting for me, im his only child....he had a stroke and that put me in this tail spin of fear and panic...he pulled through with gods grace...and then he had a massive stroke and we had to respect his wishes and let him go. that has swept me off my feet and im still trying to find my way back..to home. im here but im really not...not anymore. YOUR SONG IS BEAUTIFUL AND IVE SENT IT TO MY KIDS AND FAMILY. its made me feel again and i thank you so much for that. you have opened up my ability to feel again...thank you god bless you, sarah

Being an OTR truck driver your worst enemy is yourself. Mental health is real as I am learning more about it everyday. Talk to someone! Everyone has demons and if left unattended to they win. Don't let them win.
You Matter & are Worth It
Truck driver here as well. No longer otr but still putting plenty of seat time in. We have a lot of alone time in the truck. Anything that was bothering you at home just builds and festers in the truck. Then you have extensive time away from home. You miss a lot. I missed much of my children's youth. Sure, they have a good life as a result but mentally it was hard. Add in traffic, dumb drivers, crappy shippers/ receivers and you have a perfect storm for mental health decline. It is a hard job. People just don't understand. I myself started focusing more on keeping the stress down. I slowed down and started trying to enjoy the travel, sights, and the experiences that otr brings. Sometimes I miss otr. If.you need an ear I'm here to listen. I was fortunate to have a senior driver do the same for me years ago. Nobody understands better than somebody that's been there. I am 13 years deep at this point.

I saw them on AGT and this song hit home because I know that situation very well when a family member has mental illness... The early am pacing through the house and the self-chatter. I lived with and through that for years and they are right people back then didn't talk about it... Gigantic thumbs up for writing a song like this.
