    Awesome 👌🏼 What would be even more awesome is the ability to fit these kits in 15 year old cars so that we don't have to scrap them and can give new life. Many cars even after 15 years are still in very good condition.

    *Awesome Range and Top Speed!* 8hr slow charge & 1 hr fast charge is too good.
    But EV with clutch is not appealing at all to those who drive automatic vehicles. Personally I hate vehicles with clutch. But there are lots of people in India who like Manual Transmission vehicles. But It's like using a typewriter when there is a computer.

      @@NorthwayMotors you can go another step ahead and design an eClutch with gearshift actuator and convert MT to AMT. Additionally, the EV range will also improve. Even the AC can be made to run on a T-Motor(devoid of the flywheel belt system) so that drive comfort need not be compromised.

    Dear Ev plugin india you are a well respected org. Please cross check facts before giving free advertisement to any commercial organisation. The specs he claims in this video and also in a post in team bhp ..are not the same what he claims in his website northern sports. There he only claims 100 NM torque, range is just 150 kmpc and top speed just 100 kmph. So please update the specs in this video or ask him to update correct specs in northern sports website. Please you dont spoil evplug in india's reputation without even cross checking the specs in company website. Please request for long term 15 days test drive to confirm what he claims.

    As per Maruti’s current progress, I’m willing to bet this is better than Maruti themselves could’ve built.
    Perhaps it will be the only “Maruti” electric car in existence
    Meanwhile, I do wish them to try out converting a Nexon to EV.
    Would like to see how much more range can one get in an Apple - Apple comparison of same chassis car but different powertrain.

    Sir, people concern is not much on power. About EV's we are more concern on the KM range per charge and time taken for charging.

      And because if this being the only concern vehicles such as Tata Tigor EV, Mahindra e verito get stuck on upslopes with a fully loaded vehicle and lack the performance of quick overtakes along with keeping up with highway traffic speed.
      Performance is not a luxury. Its a requirement. How much to utilize should be upto the user. The vehicle should be comparable to whats being used by the masses in order for quicker adoption. Safety, so on. Not to mention, at the end of the day, its an automobile. You carry your life and your friends and family's in it.

    The Best MILEAGE Cars in Diesel is based on the ratio between WEIGHT: POWER: TORQUE., Example, a car with 100bhp and 25kgm torque and with a weight of 1100kgs, Definitely 20kmpl in any sort of Driving.
    Same way, in ELECTRIC CARS, it comes as WEIGHT: BATTERY "kWh": TORQUE, really play a role. In Nexon the weight is 1400kgs and 30kWh so definitely a 200kms range comes out, in Hyundai Kona 1532kg and 39kWh, so 270+kms definitely, in MG ZS, 1512kgs with 44kWh , so definitely 300kms easily will come up.
    Now the TATA TIGOR EV, Coming soon, is 1200kgs with 26kWh definitely 250kms easily will reach. Do the Ratio Analysis, it comes out good number. I Promise...

    80kmph in first gear? That's crazy. Imagine the speed he could get in 5th gear.
    Of course one can calculate this if he knows the gear ratios but I'm sure that number will be interestingly high

      Yes it should be around 350 kmh according to my very rough calculation but pls note it's theoretical when we talk about the 5th gear.😁 A lot of torque and battery power is needed to hit that kind of speed. 150kmh is the comfort zone (can go a bit more) in 5th for a single pmsm motor with 20 kWh. Don't know what battery chemistry or cooling is used for battery and motor so can't comment on how long such speeds can be sustained.

      Although gears aren't mandatory, driving without gears feels handicapped for many.

      This is already well known, old technology. We don't need R&D for that, what we need is proper education and industrial power.
      Also, government is supporting this. A 2000s car is no longer street legal if it runs on petrol or diesel unless it meets emission norms. But Lpg or electric converted cars have much less emissions so old car owners now have a way to keep their old cars with them for longer

      Govt will not fund such small wonderful initiative as they would ask for hundred different things and the bureaucracy would keep finding faults rather than assisting in establishing. He is the Elon Musk of India but he won’t be able to establish a commercial space rocket for tourism or hyperloop.

      Despite the technological advances, solar panels are still very inefficient, They will just not produce enough juice to drive a car on their own. Having a battery pack charged while the car stands in direct sunlight is feasible, it is not practical yet. May be when we have more efficient solar panels, batteries and motors, we might have cars that simply gain their energy from the sun, store it when standing still and deploy it when needed. We are still a few years behind technologically for that.

    Looking at this video it looks absolutely great work being done.
    Few things to be kept in mind before going for a mass produced parts for EV conversion
    1) An EV car is worth investing when its range is more than 400 Kms in one charge because that the average what everyone travels in a day when its taking for a long distance. This also helps in two ways where suppose i normally drive 35 kms in a day so in 1 charge I can use this for 10 days. A battery pack remains good for a re-charge cycle of 600 so theoretically its good for 2.4 Lakh kms
    2) ICS engines as of today are easily reliable to run for 2 Lakh Kms / a durable life of 10 to 12 years depending on your run so the parts that you fit in a car should at-lease have a reliable operational life of 12 years. Few car makers are even have proven engine reliability for 5 Lakh kms so there is a competition there as well.
    3) Most important part is if i have put my car on charging and locked my car, no-one should be able to pull out the charging cable. This is to ensure no-one would interrupt my charging

    This is great. I particularly loved the thing that the amount of regen depends on which gear the car is on. Ultimately, using multispeed transmission is a good trade off between range and performance, but it does take away some of the EV experience. I would however prefer such transmission on an electric motorcycle. And yeah, more of this kind of in depth technical videos please.

      Not really a trade off as you can keep the vehicle in 3rd gear only and use it as a regular vehicle ev with a single speed transmission like the Nexon ev

    After going through their product list and the prices mentioned, my guess is that Northway Motors would be pricing the Full Kits around Rs.7-8 Lakhs for 15 Kw AC and Rs.9 lakhs for 35 KW PMSM, approximately.

      eTrio is installing Chinese imported kits, they are just integrating with no invention on their own. Their Kits are priced at Rs.8 lakhs for a range of 80-120 Kms, which is very low even as per standards. An EV 4-wheeler must deliver a range of 15 Kms per KWHr, that means about 65 Whr per Km. Only then the Energy Efficiency of migrating to EV would've been achieved and net carbon footprint would actually come down, because save the fuel usage, manufacturing all other components for making an EV still cause pollution as they do for an ICE.

      They can't make a converted car better than the already available electric variant.

      @@anshulsharma4500 not necessarily true. Tata has to take into account various factors such as serviceability, reducing no. of components, cost, complexity, etc. Conversion will have no such constraints, they can focus on efficiency, power, etc.

      In a factory made EV the weight of the battery is spread out. In the case of a workshop conversion, the battery weight is concentrated either in the front or rear. It could affect tyre wear.

      @@le_ecrivaine 01:11 loading parameters are considered. Anyways since people sit in car .. loading will never be 100% balanced!
      But my point was since we have production Nexon ev for reference... Comparing performance, handling, mileage/range of converted Nexon would be more conclusive!

    Hello, I have 11 years old Fiat LINEA E motion Pack model 2011 car I need this to be converted to Electric vehicle.
    What’s is the max range you can give?
    What’s the total cost? Including home recharge kit . At least 300- 350 kms with definitely Air conditioning is required for me on highway drive.
    Where’s your workshop? Time period required to do conversation? Any government certification required later? Warranty? What’s covered in warranty? Is The recharge kit is same for Tata Nexon and any other electric car now in the market or each one will have different kits which are not compatible for other company?
    Please reply in detail. Depending upon the reply I will decide to sell off my car or convert it to electric and use it.

      While developing a kit for a car, the cost of development and certification for a particular model which is close to 60-70 lacs can only break even if th volume of the model in the country is that large. Thats y we have chosen swift dzire.

    Thanks. You've explained very well the technical parameters of the converted car. Neverrheless, i would have appreciated a little more info, e.g. 1) how much would it cost convert a reglar diesel car into EV 2) Is such conversion allowed by the RTA will they pass such a vehicle. 3) presently we do not have EV charging stations in the country, even if you have them the charginging process would ta a lot of time : woth regard to this stuation i would like to clarify a few points: can the EV charged under domestic conditions, if yes what lind of plugs you woud need, will a 15 amp ordinary plug in socket do?
    Suppose you have run out of poewer in the middle of a city and a kind man aggrres to let you recharge your EV , in such an event how do you calculate the power you have consumed for charging your car, have manufactired meters to this effect. I have a few more questions but I'll do that next time, after i get the answers my above mentioned questions . Thanks.

    Awesome work plug-in India team and Northway motors..!!..I agree with Hemank on his comments about mass production and mass adoption of a car model which is already there in the roads in thousands.. Fleet operators ( ola, uber) with good and sane drivers are ideal for this.. They can break even by saving on fuel costs while driving greener.

    Does the car have cruise control on it from factory and does it work after the conversion?
    If we keep the car in one gear , let’s say second, do we need to apply clutch to start off from stand still or during bumper to bumper, stop go traffic like an automatic?

    Nexon ev battery pack is 30.2 kwh for which range is 312 kms( claimed) which makes 97wh/km mileage. Whereas in actual it delivers around 260 kms range which makes mileage around 116 wh/km. How ur system is more economical by claiming 112 wh/km??

    Sir this is a good initiative and business model, specially keeping in mind NGT ruling about scrapping 10 years old diesel car. I think this will enforce people to move towards converting their Diesel cars to Electric in future. How Electric kit will be approved for a Diesel Car in RC and will there be any support/paid service from your company for this? We are looking for this technology to be fitted into our Honda Civic 2007 AT. So how to get it done just to travel in local only. Etro in Hyd are no more doing this.
