I just received my viola set of these strings and the D and A string resonate so nicely! The two lower strings have so much power it really makes my instrument vibrate so much and I just love the feeling!
I have used this string set before. I and here is my experience with this set. 1. Sounds similar to alphayue, but bit more broad which is what i love with this set. 2. Playability: its still responsive and easy to play with this set😍. Downside: 1.its kinda bit mellow or subtle than tonica and Alphayue. (This is just for soloist and serious classical violinist perspective) For me power doesn't matter since im just using my violin for gigs, hobbies, and for fun only hahaha. 2. This is not as complex as what you expect for its price. But the richness it offer is enough for me hahaha. Over all this set of string is still the best strings for longevity and better sound quality for the beginners or advicing violinist. To this string last me for like 12 months... YUP 12 MONTHS FOR A SYNTHETIC CORE STRINGS!!!! unlike the dominant, tonica, that last me 4-6 months lols hahahah while Alphayue last me like 7months...
Thank you, Fiddlershop for your review on the D'Addario Ascente's, I feel you are right on the money; concerning their tonal quality, they are great for students like myself to practice with and take lessons with. But, I will definitely be changing these strings out when I start giving concerts and record demos and albums.-All my best, always Linda, of Linda Rian Music.
I love how you do your videos they entertain and inform...make more!! Honestly the E string sounds super bright to me, compared to the other strings, or maybe that’s just me
Thank you, i might try them on the violin i teach with. They sound subtle and sweet and save my dominant strings for performance. Your presentation was great.
I like the Tonica's depth and warmth. I think they might have slightly more power than the Ascentes, but hard to say if the price difference is worth it for them.
'm a violin seller and have tried Ascenté on a number of student violins in the €500 range. The Ascentte strings sounded thin and dull, wiry and unresponsive. In the end I threw all six sets in the garbage and got proper Dominant strings instead.
Still here :P I have a Franz Hoffmann Danube from Shar Music. The student I purchased it from had the original Dominant strings still on it, and I've owned it for six months... Yeah. It's time for new strings. I can't justify Evah Pirazzis, but I may have to bite the bullet and drop $50 on a new set of Dominants - oof. I'll never complain about $15 Elixir guitar strings again 🤣
Boa tarde de Rio das Pedras sp Brasil.... Óptima cordas coloquei no meu Violino Magginni....som fantástico. Cordas potente som de madeira....excelente para solista. Atendeu bem minha expectativas. Abrç.
They both sound similar but i prefer the ringing sound on ancente and this last me like A YEAR!! so i recommend this set if you want to save some money.
Can you even tell the difference between say $30 versus anything more expensive? I mean, going from $10 junk strings to $22 Dario's made a huge difference, but diminishing returns...
langhamp8912 yes you can definitely tell the difference going up in price.. above 70$ however they are all very good, just different in characteristics of the strings. The quality and characteristics of the violin is more important though, u can have $100 strings on a poor violin and it’ll still sound like a poor violin.
@@CatAndi To my ears the sound is really warm which is rare for entry level perlon. I prefer warmer strings because they lack those sharp brightness that mask all the underlying tones (which present a lot in ascente) but of course with warmth they lack projection and brilliant. If you prefer bright string you can't go wrong with alphayue which also has a much better built quality (Thomastik is the best in this regard anyways) of all three cheap perlon (alpha tonica ascent) ascente is the worst, the wounding is rough (to the point that they catch your finger but they got better overtime) the silk on both ends are jagged and flailing. Yeah but they sound great for the price and those monnel wounding will not tarnish horribly like silver
@@AmandaViolinGirl So sorry to hear that! We'll replace any broken D'Addario string. Email us at cr-bowed@daddario.com. Explain what happened and we'll get a new string out to you right away!
@@DaddarioOrchestral I have given up trying to get another E string because I was asked to send a photo of the broken string. That string was already in the rubbish bin and was on its way to the tip. I had enough photos of the package it came in though and proof that I did have the strings that I sent photos of but they didn't accept.

True. E string sounds bright

Wonderful! Thanks for your kind words 😍
I got some for my Viola and I was really surprised. They are warm but not muddy and have a non-aggressive tone. They really resonate beautifully.
Happy to hear!
Awesome video as usual
Would you recommend these or the pirastro tonicas?
I like the Tonica's depth and warmth. I think they might have slightly more power than the Ascentes, but hard to say if the price difference is worth it for them.
I am excited to try them
That Tchaikovsky excerpt was beautiful bruh, goddamn. Mans didn't have to cook like that for the string review lmaoo.
Thanks for watching!
Would you recommend these strings over thomastik alphayue ?

They need updates
These strings are Fantastic thanks to their fast bow responce, & they're super durable.
Glad you like them!
Have heard they are a bit darker...truth??
LOVE THEM THEY DONT SOUND EDGY JUST ORDER A SET FROM AMAZON, TY
Dude video so good. Funny opening and totally relate lol!
Very kind words, thanks, Joshua! :)

compro a alpayue ou essa oque acha?
And, you make any strjng sound good
Thanks, David!
I love and miss the spider graphs, they help so much.
Cool! I think I started doing that in some of the more recent ones, and moved away from the overtone graphs, cause I couldn't make much sense of it.
Should i go with alpayue's one or this Ascente?
They both sound similar but i prefer the ringing sound on ancente and this last me like A YEAR!! so i recommend this set if you want to save some money.
Ótima corda
Ótima mesmo, e barata ainda por cima

Michael has a second career as a comedian if he wants it! :-) I was laughing way too much at his ramblings.
Thanks Lara! I'm living the dream as it is 😃
@@Fiddlershop I can see that, keep up the good work! :-)
Tried this out today. Beats Alphayue by a big margin imo.
Is this for real? I'm having a hard time choosing between those strings. Would you mind telling me about their differences? Thanks

It wasn’t too long ago I was buying Pirazzi for less than $50..
I know, I always feel like an old codger when I go on my rant about "Back in my day...Evah Pirazzis were $45!! and Dominants were $16!" But it's true.
5:10...... HAHAHAH so funny
Everytime he does an impression, someone swipes right
i will say, these made my $130 viola sound like it cost $40 more.
Boa corda
Not impressed when my one string snapped in only one week!

Ummmm. Acente I'm guessing is either franch spanish Portuguese or italian. And those are white people languages
Spanish and French people are white though
