As loved and praised Continuum is in general...born and raised and paradise valley are the albums which are like aged whiskey...you understand the taste and value over with time, age and experience.
Where the light is would be my number 1 as well! Most of my favorite Mayer songs played live along with some killer covers. I could listen to the trio set all day and slow dancing on that album makes me cry listening to it. Gonna give born and raised another listen because of this video! Good work
Hey Tom, just wondering if you heard the finished over and over demo on life with JM [I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!]. It's uploaded to youtube on the channel Johnmayer USA. Would love to see a reaction of it!
The Best Mayer Song Ever: In Your Atmosphere from Where The Light Is. I just re listened to it on Spotify right after watching your video, did some of the songs get updated recently? They are so freaking good!
I gotta say my favorite Mayer records from least favorite to favorite proabably: Sob Rock Paradise Valley Born and Raised Room For Squares Continuum Battle Studies Heavier Things (my personal favorite album of all time) All of these I absolutely love. John Mayer is my favorite musician and as a young guitar player I look up to him. All of these albums are my favorites in some way but overall this would probably be my list
I think because you are able to inject your musical analysis you give a very fair rating to each album, and I'd guess it aligns pretty closely with most peeople's rankings too. My ranking tends to change a lot, but these days, including live albums and the EP, I'd go with this: Where the Light Is Born & Raised The Search for Everything Sob Rock Continuum Battle Studies Any Given Thursday Paradise Valley Try! Inside Wants Out Heavier Things Rooms for Squares As/Is To me RFS feels more flat than Heavier Things, and I prefer the quieter accoustic renditions of its songs. I don't feel much sonic distinction between each song on the album, like you can do on TSFE and Sob Rock.
Here, let me help you out. Born and Raised is #1. You're welcome! 😀 Seriously, though, it is my top pick. Actually, I listened to it when I got back from seeing the 45th anniversary theatrical release of The Last Waltz (ya know, the concert film fromThe Band). And I thought, "Ya know, if John Mayer got himself a DeLorean, went back in time and snuck on stage at that show, no one would say, 'Hey, look. A future boy'. Nope. They'd say, 'Hey, look. One of us!'" Because I can't think of another current day artist who would fit in better with all those legends. And THEN I wrote a song about my feelings on this. Because that's what I do. 🤷♀️ But that's a discussion for another day, as this comment is already annoyingly wordy! 😊
Same! But for some reason it was always my least favorite, but this past year I gave it another chance recently and all the songs just clicked suddenly. Something's Missing, Bigger Than My Body, Home Life, and Only Heart quickly became some of my most streamed songs in 2023. I really like the rock vibe he had on that album before transitioning into the more blues/soul inspired songs on Continuum. So now I would probably rank Heavier Things around the middle, shifting both Paradise Valley and Battle Studies below it in the ranking.

That Slow Dancing really is incredible. I agree.

I love that it’s getting it’s due on the Solo tour. It’s really a highlight.
need a sob rock review
Hey man, what happened to your videos? I can't find the one where you included SobRock
Gotta upload that one! Will do.
I gotta say my favorite Mayer records from least favorite to favorite proabably:

Good list and I love that "Heavier Things" is a favorite here. That's a rare one to be at the top!

Where is Sob Rock??
I made that list before it came out, unfortunately. I’ve got an update on the way!
🎸🎶🌹🙏❤❤I love Jonh mayer 😂❤ Gravity, slow dancing or Edge of Disaere my favorites ❤❤❤❤
Oh, and please keep that guitar out all the time, I love when you play over/along!
As long as I can fake whatever Mayer is playing, I will! Haha!

Not annoying at all! It's awesome you were inspired to write a song by it and I think you're exactly right. Mayer is a timeless artist.
i wonder what you’d think of Sob Rock
I loved it!
Noooo, I love Heavier Things so much!

we look alike. how do you have the same exact hair as me?
Well, I can’t explain this. I’m ok with that, though.
Walt Grace is so well written, it’s almost poetry
It’s incredible. Gives me chills every time.
It’s hard to take this seriously when sob rock is missing, no mention of Try!… everything Mayer? Something’s Missing….👀
Old video that I reposted! I’ve got an update that includes SR. TRY! Is a JM3 live record. I limited the list to studio JM records only.
