What a Great Performance choir and organist I feel sometimes with a big Orchestra it overpowers the choir your performance just right with just a few brass and drum and Organ.
Hello conductor Michael Devine, my friend wskfan and I are very glad to see you - as former boysoloist of the Vienna Boys´Choir - "in action" and wish you and your choir much joy and success..:) Hamburg/Germany, June 1, 2012
Magnificent. A choral trilogy. "Whorty is the Lamb", a majestic prelude, "Blessing and honor", a triumphant fugue and "Amen", a sublime fugue ... the subject is divided, subdivided, inverted, enriched with counter-subjects and subordinated to many ingenious and latent purposes of harmony, melody and imitation.
It was recorded at Boe Memorial Chapel, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN on Monday May 7, 2012. It was part of "Join To Sing The Great Salvation," a worship service serving as the graduate conducting recital of Michael Devine for the Luther Seminary/St. Olaf College Master of Sacred Music program (he got his degree, by the way). The choir was a mixture of many singers from the Anoka Methodist Church where at the time Michael was the music director, other Twin Cities singers recruited through the grapevine, and some of Michael's closer contemporary associates via St. Olaf, Bethel, Wheaton (and other?) College connections. We in the Twin Cities who could (and needed to!), rehearsed weekly for a few months, we had one full-group rehearsal at St. Olaf and the one worship service you see/hear here. The beauty and grandeur was so beyond any hope of expectation; dreamlike. Soli Deo Gloria! Alleluia, Amen!
It is not The quantity that matters, but what really count is quality...and sincerity. May our Lord bless you ALL. From Brazil.
Who needs strings when there is an excellent Organ and Organist in the room? Well done; much loved!
