What a fantastic video! Im pretty sure my grandmother is working in the factory I cant wait to show her this footage! I never knew it was twinned with a french town despite living in a street of the same name! Incredible
Yeah Drancy in france. Which is kind of infamous as it had a big nazi internment camp there. But hey oh. Willenhall is the best town in the world bar none
@placeborick yeah. i also found that the memorial plate shown at 2:02 in this video. was actually moved from by where fosters gym is now in 1963, to where the memorials are for the two world wars on field street. the gates are gone and there's a barricade thing there now i think. it's amazing how things change about...
A lovely elderly lady told me that Tom Mix came to visit Willenhall once. He was famous for cowboy movies. Apparently when giving a performance a horse was playing up and Tom ran off, cos he was afraid of horses, which didn’t look too good from his fans point of view. It is a shame that the once world famous manufacturing town of lockmaking had to succumb to cheap imports. Awful to watch our heritage disappear.
The town as I remember it as a small child ,how did it all go so terribly wrong ,how sad

Anyone know the name of the lock factory at 7.01 onwards? My mom used to work at Squires. 🤷♂️
