  • This is the same 1960's movie I uploaded called 'The Paraffin Run' with a split screen that now shows a direct comparison with Wednesbury in 2015.

Thanks for this. It's great. Wednesbury, it's like the entire town has gone. I grew up there from 65 to 71 (well, Walsall, West Brom and Tipton too). I lived with my nan and grandad and my dad in The Great Western Pub / Hotel on the same street / Potters Lane. Last week I went down there to have a look - ALL of it gone! The only thing remaining is the bridge where my brother and I used to stand on top and watch the trains go under .. even the train tracks are gone and replaced by a bulldozer place .. and the other side of the road, the tracks are all completely filled and leveled with industrial buildings built on top of it. If you never knew the place, you'd never know there was a train track or pub or houses or even a side road with all houses (where we used to go penny for the guy on)

1:56 onwards, that could easily be the drive to The Great Western, and that could even be my dad backing his car up on the cobble stones and into the back yard of the pub. Crikeys!

Very revealing; I would have thought the earlier film was the 1950s, judging by the cars.
