If i may humbly suggest.... Wipe box down with wet cloth....let dry. Use a pre stain, it helps a lot! Use a foam roller...much even results. Do small sections at a time and wipe off before it drys. Then do your choice of poly or whatever ypu want. I played around with a lot stain on my channel and it can be a finicky process. Great content Parker!

Parker I think you forgot to screw the top part of the port, also I really would recommend putting bracing in. I have a 18 and the peices of birch flex when the boards are that big you will lose alot when they flex, still awesome work Parker can't wait to see it done

Yours will be way louder, as mine is a blow-through with a Mechman 400 amp alternator and only an Ioxus supercap for now on my electrical. I love what you are doing, showing other young guys they can do it themselves and part of that is showing mistakes. Sometimes stuff just happens like the blown sub toasting your amp a few months back.

If you use wood conditioner first it will give you a more even application of your stain. Your woodworking skills are improving impressively. Much love buuuuuddy.
Hey mate, i noticed you forgot to put screws into the top of the port pieces when you put baffle on, you only did the outsides of the baffle. Hopefully the glue not being clamped by screws still holds well

Just curious how long it takes to do these things because you are doing it right with normal tools (not CNC machines, etc.). Thanks Parker for making this.
These sundowns were local and at a great price. Can’t afford to just go by new stuff all the time. But I am possibly doing a deaf bonce build when I find a new vehicle to wall 🤫

next build try liquid nail instead of wood glue 3.50 a tube at store just plain ole heavy duty nice job though most guys your age group can only work a cell phone so nice to see some guys still learn to do a little hard work besides any man that can't use tools or change a tire is not a man
Great looking box Parker! I was wondering what you think about doing stain half way into the port fading into the black? Imo, I think it would look sexy!! I have the same box build for my 2 12's glued an nailed. Only downfall is that I don't have any 45° corner bracing and it blew all my seems apart mainly on my port walls. I'm not saying the same will happen to you, but it might be worth putting some in on the front inside corners where your port wall and front wall meet. I can't wait to see the final outcome of this project, great job bud!! I personally love that you use stain instead of carpet, it gives it more character 😊 P.s, what did you wind up doing with the 4 Gothic 12's?
Imo building boxes using a Brad nailer is sooooo much easier you don't need to juggle holding stuff in place while messing with a cordless and screws. I don't even use screws any more just titebond and brads and I've yet to have one come apart but if anyone insists on using screws snap it together with brads then before it sets it's easy as pie to put enough screws to it until you can sleep at night. I've glued test sample of 2 boards together with titebond 2 and broke it and it snapped about a half inch from glue joint... But I get it screws do give some ease of mind. But I will not go back to just screws using brads cut assembly time in half and way less bitching only advantage of screws it if realize it's off and have to pull it back apart back screws out do it over brads hold impressively well and pain to remove them when sticking out but solution is don't F up lol.
Its crazy the mess ppl talk about skar the bass head world is so upside down now days ive had the same skar zvxv2 dual 2s 15s for 4 years the only time you start running into issues is when you throw Brazilian power on them i geuss when you got companys just throwing you equipment then you do what you want

i have been looking for a decent box for 2 audip pipe txx dual 4 ohm 12's in my 2017 chevy equinox! i have 3 in there now but one box hits the high bass for 2 new 12's and a have a single box that is custom it hits them lows! i need one for all 3 or 2 but all same sub and same ohm

im a newbie, but I think a 600watt rms amp would be perfect as per wiring .....just youtube it....also you can always turn the gain down on a bigger amp if needed, even running your amp at 2 ohm with that subwoofer....hopefully im not talking out myAs$
PARKER HELP!!!!!!!!! I need you to take a Rockville Destroyer 12D2 sub and either a DC Audio Level 6 or a top of the line Sundown Audio sub and see who is actually better!1! SAME ENCLOSURE (PER SUBS SPECS) , POWER, CAR, SONG ETC. I have Rockville's and have a hard time believing that my (6) subs would hit any harder if I replaced them with (6) subs that are 4-6X as expensive for each one. I really need to see this comparison! That mixed stain with poly looks awful. You are right though, would've turned out better using a foamy.

I'd put a dowel to brace between the port to help with any flexing
You should put it on the meter with the sundowns and see what it does and then see what 2ZVX 18s would do in the same box same power

The design for my dual 18” Sundown is double layer on every panel. I was told a single later won’t last with subs that large.

If you have a brad nail gun put a few in first and the wood will stay together while you screw it.

Why did you put the subs on the top doesn’t it sound better with them in the front with the port or are you going to do 4 at some point
proper wood glue creates a bond STRONGER than screws or nails. the wood will break n tear before the glue bond lets go with proper, quality wood glue.
