Do I Need A UPC/GTIN Barcode For My Product? | Amazon FBA

- It's not as complicated as it appears! This is how to quickly determine if you need a UPC/GTIN barcode for your product on Amazon FBA. If you're selling an existing product that's currently on Amazon, then you do not need to purchase a barcode. If you're selling a product not sold on Amazon, like your own brand of product(s), then you will need one.
One thing not covered in this video is if you want to apply for the GTIN Exemption. You can eliminate the need to purchase a barcode for a product not sold on Amazon, however you'll have to use the "Generic" brand name and cannot use your own. Here's the tutorial: • How To Add a Product O...

Thanks for the info. What if I sell blue and red shoes in different sizes, do I need a bar code for each size? If not, does FBA staf/robot able to pick the right size every time according to the order? I am not so sure.
If we buy one barcode for a single product and then we make a pack of 12 for that particular product. Will we require a new barcode for a pack of 12?

hello, i was wondering.. when you purchase the barcode and then have shipping set up through the amazon warehouse; do they put the barcode on the inventory and have it in their system? if we have items shipped from home obviously we would already have access to our purchase. sorry if it's a silly question!

I Just have 1 simple question for you which I'm still confused. Do I really need UPC or GTIN barcodes if I'm planning on sell and item which is on amazon but I'll put my brand on it. Or will i be okay if i only provide the FBA barcode and FNSKU to my supplier? And if I need the gs1 I guess I have to hand it to my supplier right?

What information do I need to put in the Product Description when I purchase a UPC from GS1? My company manufactures lithium battery packs, we had been doing contract work only for commercial customers however we are now shifting towards high volume production of our 12.8V 120Ah battery packs. I am working to list these on Amazon and Walmart and understand that we need a UPC code for each model pack in our catalog. I am not sure how much detail needs to go in the product description when I create the UPC and buy it on GS1 US. I was thinking I just put something like "12.8V 120Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Battery Pack". Should I put more information like the dimensions and other more in depth technical description? Thanks!

Bro I need your help, I have followed the steps you outlined to list a product through gtin exemption, however at the final stage I always get asked for product ID and can't seem to go beyond that despite applying for a gtin exemption and waiting for 30 mins or more before listing. Why don’t you DIFFERENTIATE between selling OFF Amazon(selling on own website-using FBA to fulfill and ship orders) and selling ON Amazon! FBA is always used in error in these videos and creates unnecessary confusion

Yes you would! For each size, it becomes a variations and requires it’s own unique SKU. You need one for each size

UPC and gtin is not the same thing one is 12 one is 14. This video is not useful and misleading and wrongfully informed
