This is the 4th generation Kia Sorento which sets out to carry 7 people in style, comfort and sophisticated tech. Kia are directly aiming at the prestige brands who also have 7 seater vehicles but have come in at a price that massively undercuts what you get for the money - as long as you are ok to listen to comments such as "oh, it's a Kia?". It's a seriously impressive car but it also has a strong starting price by Irish standards.
Time to check it out anyway - hope you enjoy the video, leave a comment or question if you've got one and thanks for watching!

Hi, great review. Really nice the see something from Ireland. When you’re doing the reviews can you show the seat height for the driver. I have a dodgy back and the more upright the seat the better for me.

Thanks for the review. Picking up my PHEV version this week. Bought an e-Niro last year which has been brilliant and is staying. Have got rid of my discovery and replaced with the Sorento. Just so impressed with the build quality after my last 4 cars have all been JLR (2 XF’s, an XE (big mistake) and a Disco 5). It is a strange experience for me to own a car that has NO rattles and where the electrics work! Well done Kia.

@@davcayman When I picked it up, I didn’t love it as much as our e-Niro but it is growing on me. I really liked the full electric driving experience of the e-Niro, and it is not the same in the Sorento: much more like a traditional petrol engine car. On the whole it does exactly what is expected and I have had no rattles or issues that have needed any attention. Any annoyances are very trivial, for example the app does not include pre-heating or cooling on the Sorento which is included on the same app for the e-Niro…. This may also be user error! All in all I would buy it again. Most of my journeys are short and I charge up every day. The petrol engine is more than adequate on the motorway for those occasional long trips. Works for my lifestyle. Hope you enjoy whichever car you decide upon. All the best.

@@nickblunden3557 Many Thanks Nick, much appreciated. It’s great to get feedback directly from an owner. I haven’t gone full electric yet but do need the extra space hence looking keenly at the Sorento and Santa Fe. I like that I can drive an EV for short distances but have the patrol engine for the longer journeys when needed. I’ve previously owned Mercedes, Land Rover (Discovery) and Lexus, I’d never considered Hyundai or Kia before now but I’m very impressed with the overall packages offered relative to the other brands. Scary how easy it can be to turn over high sided vehicle.

On mainland UK, as of yet the lone diesel model is the mid-range 4x4, which loses the sunroof, seat memory, Bose stereo, cooled seats and head-up display found on top spec models. They still have a spectacular amount of kit despite this and the only thing I wish mine had is the seat memory.
I have actually replaced a Volvo XC90 with this. It goes as well, has even more kit, less road noise and is £15,000 cheaper. I think it is going to be even more economical as well, because diesel cars improve over the first 20,000 miles and I’m easily getting 37mpg from this already and it has covered less than 200 miles total. The Volvo D5 ended up averaging 38, but the first 10,000 miles it was more like 35mpg.

      What are you on about?
The 2021 is not the midrange, it goes the furthest on a tank, it can pull the most, since it has the most torque.
and have seatmemory mem 1 & mem 2.. It has Bose stereo.
Cooled seats and headup display. Are you on some bad crack or something?

You are absolutely correct. I just checked. The reason I thought that there was no button is because I was specifically told this by the dealership owner who handed the car over to me. He obviously couldn't find it himself. It is there though and like most of this car, apart from lane keep assist defaulting 'on' with every cold start, it is actually very well designed. Thanks for pointing it out. If you know how to alter the Lane Assist default either to 'off' or 'warning only' at a cold start, I'd appreciate it.
