Good strategy. Divide and conquer! Went to other night markets and had to do the same thing. Getting there early is always the best. I can't stand long lines when my stomach is grumbling. Thanks for sharing!
I love these type of outdoor markets, truly the best for food adventures. And the interaction between Felix and his mom was such a personal touch for the video. And Vons of course always has the most advanced food critiques, lol, while mine is either “it’s good” or “it’s terrible.”😅
I love how humble Felix’s mom is about the Vietnamese egg rolls. I can tell she won’t say an unkind thing ♥️ I checked the site and didn’t realize the night market only takes place a couple times a year. Definitely divide and conquer is the way to go. Enjoyed another video, mahalo 🌺
You guys had me giggling throughout the entire foodie adventure tonight. Felix's Mom stole the show with her sweet personality and Davonn was great with her outstanding taste test analysis. Your presentations as always was first class looking forward to your next adventure. Mahalo Amanda and Felix 🤙❤
I love this video sooooo much! Your mother is an absolute treasure! Very special to see so much love for each other and of course the food! Sending you all many hugs (specially mom).
Listen to Flix’s speaking Vietnamese, as same as my brother’s sister’s speaking Vietnamese. Cute, at least these kids still remember how to speak Vietnamese🤟
Whenever I'm feeling teary-deary for my homeland, I "flip" you guys on. I certainly feel I never left Oahu!(9 yrs) What cracks me up is seeing the local crowds moving excitedly to not miss anything.Enjoy the conversations of a very modern pidgin. Food is quite overwhelming but use some imagination 〰 you're grinding too.The highlight was Mom who is a typical matriarch of HI. Very likeable, so proud of her kids, & the best part is how you all interact.Feel the love, respect, gratefulness she has instilled w/in her fam. Amanda, your energy & desire to share all aspects of life in HI is clearly envisioned. Mahalo for bringing me back to my roots.Audrey of Oregon 🍁🌲🌻
Felix’s mum is so adorable 🥰 she reminds me of my mama. I think you can’t beat mamas cooking to be honest, you can’t compare 🙂 I don’t blame your mother not sharing her recipe, keep it in the family I think. Well that’s what I’d do. The food looks really good, especially the BBQ meats.
This is the 1st time since we moved to Nevada that I've been able to catch your vlog. Awesome. Ooh I love lumpia. My faves would be the bacon, the shrimp, and the ham n cheese. Yum.
To Mama Felix: Chao Bac! I love how Evon just bought “everything” from the skewers vendor! 😂 I would do the same too, so I don’t have to get back in line. Hehe.
Aloha Amanda & Felix (and Yvonne & Mom) 🤙 How awesome these markets are, food looked great and that drink looks cool. So nice to watch Felix and his Mom too. Always enjoy when you have family in your videos 🌺🌞❤️

omg hi felix's mom! 🖐 nice to meet you 😊 ok, now on to the food! THAT BRISKET WOWZA and i luuuv that it's lilikoi bbq sauce, i loves me some sweet-yet-slightly tart lilikoi YUM. lumpia brings thanksgiving feels since that's the ONE time of year we make them from scratch (except the wrappers omg that would be insane). we put garlic ground beef, carrots, green beans, bean sprouts and shrimp in ours, served hot and crisp with garlic vinegar for dipping. it is delish. felix, you totally crack me up hahahaha never change, PLEASE 😄

Aloha guys 🌺 my family is visiting and I made Filipino lumpia lol and pancit , oh the brisket looked yummy 🤤 since there will be a lot of us in August ,will have to station each at a station we want to try since it will be crazy busy …..and three thumbs up 👍👍👍
Nice to include your mom Felix! All the food you got looked ono! Is it going to be a regular night food market there? I hope because I’d like to try it next time I’m there!
Aloha Amanda and Felix! another great video. What day of the week is this event ? Speaking of the 2 yrs, I remember watching all of your vlog during the lockdown!!!
I'm glad that local food in Hawaii has greatly diversified from my time in Hawaii as a teenager back in the twentieth century. If you walked an outdoor food market in the 60s and 70s, you wouldn't have seen beef brisket, even the 'Portagee' food beyond malasadas, the Portuguese deep fried donut ball. Typically what you would have seen in the 1970s would be limited. You would find, kalua pig, lau laus, Chinese chicken long rice, huli huli chicken (roasted chicken), teriyaki beef sticks, beef stew, chili con carne, saimin noodles, chow mein, hamburgers, and hot dogs. Except for the saimin noodles, chow mein, hamburgers and hot dogs, all the above would be served with scoops of broiled, white rice. Local macaroni or potato salad would also be served with the entrees. Hawaii macaroni and potato salads were delicious and tasted better than the Mainland versions. Hawaii macaroni and potato salads did not include sweet radish to make it taste sweet, which is off-putting to the taste,
Oh man I love Pastele's. My dad used to make that every New Years and for an Asian man who isn't Puerto Rican he made the best ones. One of his Puerto Rican friends taught him how to make it and unfortunately he didn't teach us kids how to make it. 🙁 I miss my dads Pastele's. Been trying some here but not the same. He made the masa just right and the filling OMG!! With the Hawaiian chili peppers to make it spicy. I've never even been to a farmers market or night market back home.. I so want to go to one..
Mahalo to all of you for braving those lines 🙌 Also it's always a pleasure seeing The Von, I just love her so much ❤️ I love spending my nights with you guys 🤙
Cool to see the open market happening again! Wish u could have showcased more food, but the crowd was so thick! A good sign! Love your first impressions of food, and what notes u r picking up on! Great to see Felix’s mom and how she gave her input as well! Love how Felix gets along with his mom! A cooking demo inthe future? 😉 Great job on reviewing what you could! 👍🏿😉💕Nice to see Yvonne too!!
Thank you for sharing all the cute & fun experience about all the food in Hawaii. How the night market schedules? Did they open every day or one time of the month? We will travel to Hawaii this August. 😀🌺🎏🤩😎
Hi guys love your blog coming to Waikiki from Australia in March 2023 how often is the night markets when and where will I find them PS love the channel
I absolutely love Street Food. I'm 1/4 Puerto Rican, my Mother's Mom was Puerto Rican. We love Pasteles and Gandule Rice, by the way we pronounce it as Amanda did. I didn't see any Bacalao Salad. The BBQ looks intriguing. I'm 3/4 Filipino so I don't know how I feel about the odd Lumpias, I kind of like more traditional Lumpias. Loved to see Felix's Mom, but I agree she's too nice. Love Meat on a Stick. I agree with Da Vonne Lumpias and Spring Rolls need to be full of Meat. Mahalo and Aloha.
Great video guys! Have you tried the Pearl Country Club night market? Not as crazy but they have some good eats there too. Dragon Tea Girls were there as well a few nights ago. I also can’t help but get the andagi and the butter mochi as our dessert. Great reviews by the both of you as well as your “guest” commentators.
