I know, I want expecting that. I especially loved the little arrow slit windows at the top of the eves. What workmanship went into a building that was probably a wood store or garden building. Fascinating 🥰
That building is exactly the kind of construction an apprentice would have learnt his skills from, but nobody seems to care for such things anymore, more's the pity, but what does an old bricklayer like me know after 45years😢
I am hoping that in another video, you pull ivy from trees. The ivy chokes them. I may be premature. Good job. Neat old outbuilding. The air vents ate so decorative.
Very jealous of the shed! A real work of art with the decorative design of the brickwork. This series is really enjoyable and so worth the wait. As always an excellent job. Ivy in the right place is fine, it’s a balancing job so it doesn’t destroy whatever it’s growing on! Keep up the good work. 🌺🌹🌸
Supervising the apprentice, the bond is all over the show, but that doesn't matter, you will learn how to get over problems, and different sizes in bricks, One of the best ways to learn how to do it
Although I love the look of ivy, the vines eat into the mortar sooner or later (and repointing is expensive). It's a lovely shed with wonderful brickwork. Apart from the plank door and a few minor dings in the roof, it's amazing how well it's held up! As always, you've done a terrific job of un-ivy-ing! I'm gonna be waiting for the next episode!!
Exactly, and it looks as if there is plenty of habitat for wildlife in that area. No need to keep destructive, invasive ivy on that lovely little building.
As I watched you take on the challenge of the ivy around the old building I saw an apple hanging from an apple tree and was taken to the Choir of St. John's College, Cambridge and the beautiful song "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree" so I played it while you worked. Such a beautiful tribute both to you and the apple tree! It suggested to me that the small may seem insignificant but may in fact be very important in the economy of life. Thanks for a great video. George from Florida, USA.
I absolutely love that little house ❤ and I love ivy too but not all over the place. It’s a genius plant and the flowers smell fantastic. The bees love them too ❤🐝
They just don't make em like they used to anymore, do they? The brick builder even gave the structure some interesting patterns, taking it up a notch! What a cool reveal. And, yes! Great way to repurpose the soil from the driveway. I loved your cheeky smile after you knocked the camera over!😅. You were even able to show us your ball kicking and 'baton' tossing skills today. 😂 .(ok, the baton part needs some practice, but Im certain you will master it in no time!) I actually said, "Oh no!" Out loud when the video was over! 🥹. I was so utterly enthralled and so sad it was over so soon. I can't wait to see what little delights you will find next. Sending lots of blessings your way from Washington 💛🖤💛 Stacy
For personal health reasons, I have been unable to watch youtube or much of anything else for the past month. Now it's catch up time on my favorite lawn care channels.
I used to love the look of ivy on buildings when I was a child, now that I'm older all I see is a bugs' nest right around windows and attics lol. It would look lovely if well maintained but it's such a beast of a plant. Amazing job as always, always a pleasure watching you work your magic.
Haha, I still love ivy. But as you say, maintained Ivy is a far cry from ivy in the garden that's been left to its own devices for decades 😅 Although I may change my tune in the coming week as I go deeper into this garden 😂
Oh, thank you. That's kind of you. I've always thought it's pointless to work against nature, nature will win eventually. So I'm just picking the winning team ☺️👍😅
Loved the little garden shed with its air vents and what a pretty rooftop vent cover, too. You did a great job uncovering it, being careful around the roof tiles. I hope they plan to keep it. I’ll never see English Ivy again without thinking of this video! It’s looking good Martin! The birds were not singing so much this time. Enjoyed. 👏
Thank you Martin...that was some work you put into that shed....did you have a minute to admire the bricklayer’s handiwork?....very skilled......is the shed Victorian?....those long bricks....and they were a dab hand at finishes....why have ordinary vents when you could turn them into a thing of beauty?...a work of art.....to keep the interior dry...I think🤩
Lol, right when you commented 'don't blame the ivy' i was mentally blaming the ivy! 😂 Thank you for freeing that charming little building from that choking ivy. 😊
It's all about the wildlife , your giving them a chance to find a new home by doing the garden in stages. pleased to hear your composting and not burning garden waste. Another great video. Pam 😊 ,🦔🦇🐁🐿🐇🐸🐦⬛🐌🦋🐛🐞🐝🪲
I’d buy the property just for that shed! It is absolutely perfect for the garden and the architectural features are just on point! You did a wonderful job uncovering the perfect accessory for the garden. Between brambles and ivy it’s a tough call on what’s worse! Looking forward to the next installment- this is great! 😊🎉
Happy Friday Martin! This was a very satisfying clean up of that sweet little shed! It looks like you might have a lot more bites of that elephant before it’s gone.😅😊. But no worries, because I know all your subscribers are cheering you on just as I am. Have a wonderful weekend with your family! Take care and God Bless. Sincerely, Diane from Missouri (also known as the ‘Show Me State’). They say that Missourians are stubborn as mules and that is why our state has that motto! 😂😂. 😊
Beautiful brickwork on the little shed, I think the thick layer of ivy prevented the tree to do more damage to the slates. Laughed when we fell over and you picked us up😂 great job with this archeological discovery.
Haha, thank you 😊 🙏 It made me chuckle too, I blew the camera over with the leaf blower. Also, my fall into the bag of Ivy was totally accidental 😂 I tried (and failed) to make it look cool.
Love the little shed. I'm no expert on English sheds, but to me that looks like a drying shed for herbs and flowers. It looks so much better without the ivy. You are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the good work.
I liked the shed too - slightly larger bricks and slightly thinner joints than modern standard, almost a rubbed red appearance, brick thick, sort of flemish bond with a diamond shaped ventilation feature, corbelled out eaves, slate roof and pitch-perfect ridge tiles. Includes an arrow slot for killing the enemies!! Lovely! The roof does need repairing pronto before the rot sets in.
Martin, I also feel sympathetic with the wildlife, so I like that you do one bit at a time. However, Ivy is deadly for a gardener as it kills everything in its path, at the same time providing a home for thingies!
I have a lot of ivy on a fence, I like the ivy in autumn, flowering and a lot of insects enjoying the nectar. So I like to cut it in early spring. Just before the birds going to build there nests. In your case it is inevitable to do the work. It’s nice to see the garden come back through your work.
Good for you, it's an amazing plant really, and quite misunderstood. It's great that you do exactly what I do with ivy, keep under control, and then man and beast can both enjoy 😊
Nice little shed love all the detail work on it, would be nice to see it get a little love by fixing the roof and repairs on the doors🤞U.S.A. California.

Got some job security with this property! The other dead-looking ivy-smothered tree 'trunk' by the shed, will that also be coming out? Glad it was the camera and not you that went for a tumble, and that it apparently was unscathed. 👋
When I've cleared the ground of the garden a bit more, I'll be coming back for the trees. To see which I can save and which need to come out. The main one you spoke of (the one with the root ball half way out the ground) will definitely be coming out 👍😂 it's almost done it by itself.
Hi Martin, what a difference you have made to the little shed, its lovely. Ivy is like a cancer, it chokes the life out of everything it touches. Are you going to be living in this property? I can hear a blackbird so I assume it is in the UK 😊

That has to be the most charming garden shed I have ever seen. I hope they repair it and keep it!
Would love to see it refurbished! Hopefully he’ll go back and show us one day.🤞💚
I hope so to ☺️🙏🤞

Well done Martin for your approach to clearing one space at a time to give the wild life a chance to re locate.
I think a Master Bricklayer would have built that beautiful shed❤ You bought it back to life.

Hey George
I don't know how I missed this comment 😅 I've just found it.
You are, as always, an absolute gentleman and a scholar.
I’m loving this reclamation! There’s still so much more to do. You keep filming and I’ll keep watching! Well done.😊
That's a perfect arrangement ☺️🙏❤️
The craftsmanship in that brickwork is wonderful
I know, I certainly wasn't expecting that 😂 I loved the arrow slit style windows.
That job of getting the ivy off of the tool shed was a really hard job. Thank you for that great work there.
Thank you for the lovely comment 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Everything about this garden is magical ✨️ can't wait for other uncoverings as whimsical as the shed 😊
I know ivy is a pest but I do love how it looks when it covers a building. Great video xxx

Enjoyed watching this. Looking forward to the next one.
Lol, right when you commented 'don't blame the ivy' i was mentally blaming the ivy! 😂 Thank you for freeing that charming little building from that choking ivy. 😊

Marttin great job cleaning off the vines on this little shed. God bless you Martin, God bless your Family. See you on your next video.

That was a big job!
I love the story of Martin and the Neverending Ivy! 🤩
Lovely job Martin. 😊
Victorian/Edwardian potting shed ! They took alot of pride in their gardens when many plants were brought back from overseas.
Hope this series will have more than the usual Netflix 8 episodes...I love it! Great job , Martin 😊
At this rate, it'll be a Game of thrones length saga! 😂😅
Get ready for 12 seasons 😂

Very nice work Martin. Always look forward to your videos. Stay well sir.

It's getting lovelier each time. 😊
That's exactly what I needed to hear ☺️👍 I do occasionally get daunted by the amount of work to do.
So, thank you very much.
Hi Martin wouldn't it be lovely to see the house lived in and the garden being enjoyed.
Beautiful job on that quaint shed.
Thanks ☺️ 👍
AWESOME WORK 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Martin, I also feel sympathetic with the wildlife, so I like that you do one bit at a time. However, Ivy is deadly for a gardener as it kills everything in its path, at the same time providing a home for thingies!
There is building under all that ivy. You worked yourself silly exposing it. I bet you slept good that night. Beautiful job again guy👍🏻
Indeed 😅 this is why I love my job so much. Always get a good night's sleep 👍
Thanks for a very enjoyable clearing. I would love to have seen this property when it was first built. Keep up the awesome job.
Thanks ☺️ 👍
You're not on your own, I'd love to have seen it too. I'm a bit of a history buff 😂 and a day dreamer to boot.
Such a pretty little hut
Sure hope that they fix the roof that is a very neat building took some time to get that Ivy of 👍💯
What a painstaking job, well done you ❤🇬🇧
Wonderful shed!
Hi, Martin. You've done a terrific job. Bravo
Why would anybody let the garden get that bad in the first place .Your doing a fantastic job Martin ❤
Well, that's the shed saved for another 100 years to come 😁
Amazing work!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 Look forward to each episode!!!
Beautiful job.... keep up the great work.

Hello.
The house is unoccupied at the moment. And will be going on sale soon.
So there's no one to look after it at the moment.
Also, I'm doing this for free 😅🙏
But what a beautiful place it is, I'm glad you've enjoying the videos 😊
Great video ❤
Do you have dreams with never ending vines? LOL. Great transformation
Haha, all the time 😅 they come and get me in my sleep. Like the Triffids 😂
Love the architectural details on that shed. I wanted to know if you tried one of those lovely apples. Thanks for the videos.
What a cool little building. although it does look a bit like a crypt. I would love in my yard.
What a Man
That was so much work to do, and a lot more to come. Great job so far.

Haha, awesome. There's a lovely little building that's now clear that's available 😅 although there's a hole in the roof lol
Awesome job ❤❤❤
Thank you.
Great job Martin! Do you know what the little building was originally built for as it has some unusual features?
Yeah, You're not wrong. The arrow slit windows were amazing 😂 what workmanship.
Beautiful place :)
Four plants I am NEVER planting on any property I own in future: Ivy, roses, brambles, or maples. Bane of my existence at my current place! 😂
Haha, I'm with you on the maples front.

@@martinthegardenguy Yep, especially when they grow in places you can't just mow over. Ah well, at least it keeps me moving and outdoors, haha
