I am sure someone has already answered your question about Padfoot. Remember in Prisoner of Azkaban when Harry gets the Marauders Map and it says "Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs proudly present the Marauders Map." And it seemed odd that Prof. Lupin knew how to open and close the map with the phrases. Prof Lupin's nickname is Moony ( Full Moon Werewolf) In the last film Voldemort says " Stick out your arm Wormtail" Peter Pettigrew's nickname is Wormtail. (named after a rat's tail looking like a worm) Sirius turns into a dog ( Padfoot because dogs have pads on the bottom of their paws) then their is James. The third movie didn't explain why when Harry saw the Stag patronus he assumed it was his dad. ( Prongs named after the prong shaped antlers of a male deer) Prof Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter are Mr. Moony, Mr. Wormtail, Mr. Padfoot, and Mr, Prongs The Marauders and the creators of The Marauders Map. Snape having been a classmate of theirs knew their school nicknames as the four always referred to each other by them. So when Harry told Snape " He has Padfoot." Prof. Snape knew exactly who Harry was talking about.

Fun fact: the prophecy at the end of the movie could apply to either Harry or Neville. The only thing that makes the difference is that Voldemort chose to go after the Potters that night and not the Longbottoms
Yep, he chose the half-blood Wizard to attack over the pure-blood. While also concealing his own half-blood history from the Death Eaters. Lord Hypocrimort.
So Peter Pettigrew betrayed the Potters, but could've easily told Voldemort to go after the Longbottoms and easily could've given the protagonist role to Longbottom which would have been cooler and what J.K. totally would've wanted?

@@stephanniemorin That's not true at all, the only reason why Voldemort couldn't kill Harry was because Snape asked him directly to spare Lily, which he did give her a choice. Lily HAD THE CHOICE to live but because she loved Harry so much she decided to die for him. No one did the same for the Longbottoms

So, interesting fact: When Dudley pointed at Harry, the book explained he was trying to say he saved him from the monsters. They won't show it in the films, but he respects Harry and even cares about him after this.
I believe I read this somewhere, but Dudley’s experience with the dementors was a bit different than usual.
Because his life had been so pampered and spoiled, he didn’t really ‘have’ any horrible memories for the dementors to bring forth.
What I believe it did though, was instead force him to examine how his life had been up until that point. Then upon seeing how poorly he’d made his decisions to then, it put things ‘into perspective’ for him.
Hence the change, and for those who have read the books and trying to avoid spoilers, his small ‘bit’ in the last book.

It doesn't as much in the movies. With all the peak Yaaas Girl moments given to Hermione and her penchant to be more protective of Harry, I can't blame the Harmony shippers.

It’s not as effective as a wand that has chosen Neville. In OOTP, Neville’s wand breaks during the battle at the Ministry. His grandmother is so proud that he fought the death eaters that she buys him a new wand. Because that wand selects Neville, it works better.
@@jwsel honestly i read the book series like 2 times over in my lifespan(when i was really young and then again in my late teens) but i never realised the affect of neville getting a new wand or that he was using his fathers
In the books, Cho didn't expose the DA, it was Cho's friend, Marietta. I guess the movies didn't have time to put Marietta in. Cho just defended her. I think it's also worth mentioning that Umbridge was the one that sent the dementors in the beginning.
Also don't worry, you'll see more about Snape's past later on...
I understand why they cut Marietta, i don't even think she has lines in the book, she just exists as a plot device for why Umbridge finds out and to cause the rift between Cho and Harry.
@@jazzycat8917 I agree. I guess Cho exposing the DA makes some sense, because in the movies, it says that Snape gave Umbridge Veritaserum, which she used to interrogate Cho. Since Umbridge did something similar to Harry, the change is fine with me.
@@jazzycat8917 of course she has line in the books, and an important role in the scene when Umbridge and Fudge tried to arrest Dumbledore. She felt forced to say everything about DA cuz her mom was working for the Ministry and she was afraid of the punishment.

Well it depends on how you see communication because she says a lot in the book with her body language and eyes you understand that she hates what Maietta and Cho are doing and you understand why she blabed. There were no veritaserum there. It was no need for threats either.

There's a scene in the books were Harry, Hermione, Ron and the rest of the Weasleys go to St Mongos Hospital to visit Mr. Weasley after being attack. During this moment they see Neville in there visiting his parents, so they greet each other and while they are greeting Neville'S moms approaches and gives a wrap of candy to Neville as a gift. The later we are told that Nevilles saves all of the wrapping paper he moms gives to him when he goes to visit them. And that just breaks my heart
They should do a movie about Neville, he's a good character to be the protagonist.
One of my favorite Neville moments from this book was when he got cornered by a death eater. He couldn't speak clearly because he was bleeding so much, so when he couldn't produce a spell he just poked the dude in the eye with his wand.
Real G Neville, with the most powerful wand magic; a poke to the eye, maybe bested only by a poke to the nuts.
Something I never really liked about the movies was how it butchered Ron's character. a bunch of Hermione's lines and moments in the movies were Ron's moments in the books (such as; Ron explaining what "mudblood" meant, Ron telling Harry that hearing voices isn't a good sign, Ron being the one to say "if you wanna kill harry, you'll have to kill us too, etc). And they even changed some of Ron's moments to make him the joke/jerk. In the third book, Ron defended Hermione when Snape called her an insufferable know-it-all. And when Ron and Hermione were duelling in this one, he was proud that he managed to disarm her like 3 times because he knows that she's a skilled witch and he respects her abilities.
I think the movies exaggerated certain aspects Ron's character a little, but not to the degree some people here are saying (in my opinion). I don't think they "butchered" the character anyways. In the books Ron could be moody, a scaredy cat, brave, dependable, lacking self-confidence etc and I think overall they portrayed those aspects the movies. The actor who played him did a good job I think.
@@Zekegedd They exaggerated Ron's negative traits while giving the majority of his positive traits to Hermione. Rupert is a great actor so they totally could have developed the character better in the movies. Unfortunately, Chris Columbus's favorite character is Hermione so her character was better developed in the first two movies as well as played up her positive traits and that carried forward to the rest of the film.
they made hermione more of harry's best friend then ron when one of ron's traits was how he would buntly just always be like im ur best friend harry

I have a feeling you either didn't read them, or watched the movies first and had an already preconceived notion on who Ron was so you didn't pay much mind to it. Ron is *never* a scaredy cat. Sure, he has a phobia of spiders, but for example when they go to Aragog he doesn't hesitate and does the work with Harry

I've been reading the Harry Potter books since 1998, but I'll admit it's been about 10 years or more since I read the first book. If you think otherwise that's fine, good day to you sir.
In the books, while Mr. Weasley is recovering from his snake attack, we get to see Neville in the hospital with his parents and it’s utterly heartbreaking. While Harry has heard all these stories of how brave and strong his parents were, he’s never seen in them in person. Neville has heard those same stories but his parents are alive, and every interaction he’s had with his parents he just sees how broken they are.
That was painful, with the most they can give Neville for Christmas being an empty Droobles Gum wrapper. Was sad that they didn't include Neville nearly flattening Malfoy when he teases Harry about his craziness possibly having him sent to St.Mungo's.

Dawg, that scene between Harry & Cho under the mistletoe was *SO Much Better* in the book!! In the book, after Cho asks what nargels are, Harry says: "You'd have to ask Luna Lovegood"
Ugh! *WHY* did I start watching reaction videos to the Harry Potter movies, *OR* Th3birdman's sin videos of CinemaSins' sin videos of them?!? I was perfectly fine with noticing what changes - Unless I don't remember so I pick up the books & check - the movies made, and no one said anything. Now, it's like everywhere I look, people either complain about the things the movies changed, or act total self-centered narcissistic liars going on about how *ONE* actor/actress is "ThE bEsT tHiNg AbOuT tHiS wHoLe MoViE"!!!

The only time I’ve ever thrown a book in anger was when Umbridge made poor Harry carve that message into his own hand and write those lines in his blood. I was furious.

i forgot if the movie addressed this, but in the books, those "horse-skeletal" creatures (thesrals) are only seen by people who've witnessed death in front of their eyes. in this case harry with cedric and luna with her mom. but maybe you already knew this (〃´∀｀)

After Umbridge fired the astrology teacher kids were taught astrology by a centaur.
Dumbledore was avoiding Harry cause he was scared that he would see Voldemort in his eyes.
Harry uses Syrius old nickname from school times to tell Snape he is in danger. Snape then informs Dumbledore on it.
In the Ministry of Magic while running away and battling the bad guys Harry and his friends get lost. Theres a whole sequence where they find various artifacts and use them to fight the baddies. For example a fish tank that progresses time faster for everything you put in it on reapeat until you take the thing out
I cant really remember this one for sure but: when Harry touches the ball with the prophecy it turns out either his astrology teacher (the one with big glasses, not the centaur) or her mother saw the vision from which said prophecy was made
In the beginning, in the books Harry was suprised that bathorses were pulling the carriages since up until now they traveled to Hogwarts by different means (by boat for the first years and by flying car and stuff) so this was his first time. Also Luna could see the horses and met Harry for the first time in the carriages, they rode the same one.

Most of these are correct, but some stuff that‘s wrong. Year 5 wasn‘t the first time they rode those carriages. It was cedrics death (and processing it over summer) that gave harry the ability to see the „bathorses“ xD
And the prophecy was indeed spoken by professor trelawney, the divination teacher. In fact, it‘s the whole reason Dumbledore kept her employed at hogwarts even though she is pretty much universally viewed as a sham.

Neville's Parents are not dead, they are very much alive. They were tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange using Cruciatus curse to the point of insanity also I don't think I heard any apologies for putting cho in your list

Watching Ange's harted towards Umbridge grow has brought me quite a lot of joy
When Harry said Padfoot to Snape it was the nickname Sirius used to create the Marauder's Map because the Marauder's Map was created by Lupin(Moony)Pettigrew(Wormtail), Sirius(Padfoot), and Harry's dad (Prongs)
Fun fact from the book that never made it into the movie, the prophecy didn't name any one person specifically, there was a certain criteria for the chosen one to apply to (it all boils down to what the parents accomplished, and when they were born). So there was another person whom the prophecy could have applied to... Neville. It came down to Voldemort essentially choosing which person would become the chosen one by marking him (basically, his attempt to prevent the prophecy by killing the potential chosen one was exactly what was part of the prophecy).

Neville is the best. His growth from nervous, forgetful, and unsure of himself is one of the most complete arcs any character gets in the series.
5 is my fave, because Harry finds something he loves but isn't naturally gifted at - teaching.
Everything else comes easily to Harry. He's a natural seeker, raw magical talent, rich, charismatic, etc.
He works hard to develop his teaching skills because of how much it means to the DA to have him leading the lessons. He wants to be better for them and he wants them to all be able to protect themselves. Harry has the makings of a great teacher. A future headmaster even...
And the books after forget all about it ☹
To add to your point, I believe he’s given a small collection of practical defensive magic books that year as a Christmas present.
I believe he uses them to help teach both himself and the others more means to protect themselves.

I also like how (if you’re paying attention and you’ve seen all these movies before) you can see Ginny give Harry these looks throughout this movie! You can tell she’s crushing on him hard 😄

The more I see an intentionally hated character do things that would otherwise make the character hated, the more I give praise to both the actor and the writers for making the character so hated.

Padfoot is Sirius, yes. All of Harry's fathers friends had nicknames. Harry's father was prongs, Sirius was padfoot, Pettigrew was wormtail, and lupin was Mooney. If you remember, when you open the map that harry has of the school it lists those names as "presenting" the map. Harry's father and friends created the map he now uses.
Harry was originally targeted by voldenort because someone overheard part of a prophecy professor trelawney made one night, and the ministry keeps a record of any and all that were ever made. Voldemort actually ensured the prophpecy would come to be because he acted on it. In fact there was another that the prohpecy could have been about, neville longbottom. But by targeting Harry, he made harry the chosen one.
Fun fact the chapter where Sirius dies is called something like beyond the veil (a term sometimes used for death/afterlife) and the structure that Sirius passed through is The Veil so he literally passed beyond the veil.

These were their nicknames for each other when they were in Hogwarts.

Every single time I'm watching a reaction to this film, I always look out if the person is going to notice the detail of Umbridge taking steps up the stairs to show her higher authority and I just knew that you would comment on it! I really love your attention to those types of details.
Imelda Staunton did an amazing job playing a character who was more hated than the story's main villain. The fact that Umbridge was more hated than Voldemort himself makes the scene where she gets carried away like firewood by the centaurs that much more satisfying.
Also, when I first saw Grawp, I thought he looked like the illustrated kid on the cover of MAD Magazine, Alfred E. Neumann.
When Umbridge slaps Harry, the other actors behind them didn’t know she was going to do that - Imelda Staunton really slapped Daniel.
Actress Imelda Staunton did an incredible job portraying such a despicable character like 'Dolores Umbridge'. It is not easy portraying a woman w/ such a pristine outwardly appearance and just a horrible person.

Non-spoiler answers to questions/comments you made:
- Fudge is a coward, he's terrified of the thought of Voldemort being back and therefore would just rather deny and ignore it. Harry being the one to claim Voldemort has returned, he's turned from being the Ministry's golden child to their least favourite person. Hence why Fudge let the accidental magic slide in Prisoner of Azkaban (I mean, also because it was unintentional, Harry never said an incantation or anything) but was quick to condemn and even put Harry on trial for using magic in this movie. Even though it was defensive magic, Fudge doesn't want to believe anything Harry says and doesn't want to believe the Dementors would disobey him and leave their posts at Azkaban, so he brands Harry even more of a liar and puts him on trial for, as Dumbledore says, "A simple case of underaged magic". He doesn't want to believe any of this would happen while he was in charge, so he puts his blinders on until he's forced to face the truth at the end of the movie.
- Oh yeah, and it doesn't really explain it in the movie, but Umbitch- I mean, Umbridge, was the one that sent the Dementors to Little Whinging.
- "Oh my gosh, are WE in the secret club?!" Nah, Harry and the other younger kids are only 15, not old enough to formally join the Order.
- Sirius: "They suffered a fate worse than death." Ange: **gasp** "They were expelled?!" I died 🤣
- So in the books, it wasn't Cho that outed them, it was her best friend Marietta whose mother worked at the Ministry. Everyone fell out with Cho - and she and Harry broke up - because she defended Marietta's actions.
- "Oh noo, why the weird cut again?? It's not clean!" Yeah, I dislike some of the editing choices in this one **wrinkles nose**
- Padfoot was Sirius nickname when he and Snape were kids at Hogwarts. It also has to do with the fact that Rita Skeeter in the last book, wrote lies about Harry and the people associated with him in the Daily Prophet, as well as lies about how other certain events occurred, like the World Cup Death Eater attack. And Fudge is foolish enough to believe these stories. ALSO, the Ministry is filled with employees that are Death Eaters, like Lucius Malfoy himself, so he knows how to play the game in order to convince otherwise to who are Voldemort's followers. Basically the situation is that if the Death Eaters work in a very high position for the Ministry, who do you think they're gonna believe?

I always felt bad for Cho in the books. The movie actually lightened some of the anger Harry was going through in the book, which actually made him rather snappish and mean towards a lot of people - especially Cho. He kind of was a terrible boyfriend, and while I understand that he was both going through trauma on seeing a person die as well as having Voldemort's emotions swirling in his head, he pretty much handled nearly every situation with Cho poorly. All he had to do was talk to her about Cedric a few times and BOTH of them could have healed. I guess being 15 doesn't make him the most mature person, but given Cho was supposed to be his girlfriend he should have tried talking to her. Like both Hermione and Cho pointed out in the books, Harry didn't have a problem talking to Hermione about those things, and those were conversations he could have been having with Cho. Not only that, when the jig was up and the DA was discovered, Cho defending her friend was exactly the sort of thing Harry would have done. How many times has Harry defended bad behavior or questionable actions from the Weasleys or Hagrid? So Cho sticking up for her friend is something he should have somewhat admired.
BUT yeah, that's why I think Cho got a raw deal - especially once I learned that Rowling wanted her out of the way because she was interfering with the HarryXGinny ship she was going for. Quite literally in this book, Ginny suddenly become everything that Harry likes, and it only got more and more obvious in the next book. So Cho, being pretty.... being smart... being a seeker...being game for fighting for justice... sharing in the same tragedy... and being an outside person to talk too when Ron or Hermione wasn't appropriate was too threatening. Rowling got rid of Cho and now suddenly Ginny has all those qualities. I don't know, it just feels like Rowling was fighting with her own characters to keep the ship she wanted.

fun fact (well I guess it's not so fun), apparently, when Sirius dies, they cut out Harry's screams because apparently Daniel Radcliffe screams were so agonizing, they made some of the actors (Emma Stone and Helena Bonham Carter I believe) cry. I think that Fudge and the Ministry were denying that Voldemort is back because even though he was gone for thirteen years, everyone was still afraid of him and the mere thought that he could be back and continue committing horrors on wizard kind was too much too handle.

In a book James and Sirius started to bully Snape just because Sirius got bored , and so Lily comes and tries to help Snape .But he was so angry with Marauders that he called her a " mudblood "
amd So James punished him one more time for that .( Although Lily asked not to ) Of course Harry was angry with his father but
Remus convinced him that he was a great person and a great friend and he grown from being a bully .
Also I hate what movies gave us about the Black family .

but Sirius also had another Cousin Andromeda .Andromeda was Bellatrix's Lestrange and Narcissa's Malfoy sister and the middle child .Like everyone in a Black family ( except Sirius of course ) Andromeda was Slytherin and had to keep the magical pureblood bloodline ( which mean marry a pureblood wizard )but she fell in love with a muggleborn Hufflepuff Ted Tonks and officially became Andromeda Tonks .So yeah just like Sirius she betrayed her family .

So Sirius had three cousins . And yeah Nyphadora is Ted Tonks and Andromeda Tonks daughter .

Oh and also in the book there was a portrait of Walburga Black ( Sirius mother ) That portrait works just like the portraits in Hogwarts so yeah , she could talk .

Sirius and Lupin also explain that Snape and James would jinx one another, so Snape wasn’t just the victim. I hate they omitted that conversation, because it’s important for Harry’s maturation to learn that his parents weren’t perfect and had flaws. (Also, the films left out that James saved Snape’s life when Sirius played a prank by sending Snape to the shrieking shack while Lupin was in werewolf form. That showed James had a conscience also contributed to Snape’s bitterness at owing his life to someone he hated so much.)

@ANGELINA i highly recommend you read the books, honey. this book was the longest in the series and somehow the shortest movie. plot points missed out/changed entirely:
-umbridge gave harry multiple detentions throughout the year, she was the only other villain apart from voldy to permanently scar harry
-ron was the first one to notice harry's scarred hand NOT hermione. ron's lines/moments from the books are given to hermione in the films, ron was ALWAYS and IS smart and fiercely loyal to his friends.
-umbridge intercepted the fireplace to prevent harry from communicating with sirius
-umbridge banned harry, fred and george from quidditch as harry and george got into a fight with malfoy
-hagrid introduced thestrals during care of magical creatures, when umbridge was inspecting him
-dobby informed harry abt the room of requirement not neville
-neville's parents aren't dead, they were tortured into insanity. there's an entire chapter dedicated to harry and the gang going to St. Mungo's, a wizarding hospital and they encounter lockhart, neville with his grandma and hospitalised parents.
-it wasn't cho who ratted out the DA, it was her friend marietta. hermione jinxed the list of members such that whoever sold them out would have boils covering their face spelling 'SNEAK'
-bellatrix didn't cast avada kedavra on sirius she simply knocked him into the veil (most probably stupefy)
-the backstory behind the marauders' map was completely cut from prisoner. moony = lupin, wormtail = pettigrew, padfoot = sirius, prongs = james. james, pettigrew and sirius learnt to be unregistered animagi to accompany lupin during his transformations. not so fun fact, the reverse order of these code names are the order in which they die
When it gets to the Sirius Black fire scene 11:55, I always wonder whether the VFX guys were like, omg we are not making his face out of coal again, like in "Goblet of fire" that was way too much work... lets just superimpose it.

Fun book fact: the profecie in the books says that the one with the power to defeat Voldemort will be born in the last day of July from parents that faced Voldemort himself 3 times and survived, with this beat, the were 2 people who could be the "equal to Voldemort " Harry and Neville! They are both born in 31 of July. In the books, Bellatrix goes to Neville's parents' house to kill him, but his parents sand him away with his gramma, that's why Bellatrix torture them to madness, while Voldemort went after the Potters. When he tries to kill Harry, thats when their fates are sealed together.
And the one reason that Sybila Trewlanney is in Hogwarts, is because she was the one who saw/who created the profecie, so Dumbledore kept her close to protect her against Voldemort
Umbridge was actually the one, who sent the dementors beforehand. She wanted him to teach a lesson because Harry said that voldemort was back. She thought that she could shut him this way.

I think the reason why so many people hate umbridge is because we all know an umbridge in our life lol. She's condescending, abusive,passive aggressive and a gaslighter. I'm sure we all know a teacher, a parent, a customer, and so on like this in our lives. She's basically a villain that we would meet in real life and probably have at one point
