Maryvale went down when Sky Harbor International Airport expanded, they relocated all the gang neighborhoods into the area.

Faild to mention the ground polution problem and EPA intervention that about 50 years or so ago triggered the decline of Maryvale.

Anyone else find it ironic that the councilwoman moved from Los Angeles to Maryvale and the area continues to see more crime, urban decay and worsen its reputation in the greater Phoenix area? This is exactly what people mean when they say “Don’t California My Arizona”…

City Councilwoman Betty Guardado was elected into her position here in June 6th, 2019. You’re reaching way too freakin far there, I’d say you’re Miles away if anything. 😏 I bet you assume things on a daily basis, try educating yourself instead of spreading nonsense. Just because you can post whatever you want doesn’t mean you should post whatever you want, be responsible with your words and we will all take you much more seriously including myself.

I mean politicians can't change laws without the voters voting for those laws. So is it really only the politicans fault, or is it maybe that voters have no idea what they're voting on? I think it's the ladder. Take CA for example - I highly doubt any voter who said yes on Prop 47/57 forsaw what's now happening in CA to be their new reality. It's too easy to point to politicans, you need to understand the why

Grew up in Maryvale in the 70's and early 80's. We moved the hell out in 1982 because the decline had started and it was becoming unsafe, now it's a war zone and just blighted.

Maryvale has BEEN ghetto. The Maryvale park is closed during school hours because people were constantly getting shot and stabbed. Your car would get stolen at church down the street from there to.

They need more cops to bring down crime. Then business can actually go there. Well to do families and families who can actually make a community thrive don’t want to live in an area with high crime. Fund the police!
