Lots of love from Scotland to all the PEDRO PJs and crews who served in Afghan with us. You got us out of shit many times in helmand (09-12) 👍 even when our own mert couldn't come with tic. To anyone thinking of the career, if I was 16 again I'd emigrate to do that job, top pros....but Recce is awesome too (from a brit recon guy) "Recce do it in front of everyone".

Damn I’ve had my mind set on PJ but SR sounded intriguing and there wasn’t a ton of information. I know they’re leaning towards more general SW contracts, but that makes me more open to it honestly. Love how it breaks off into two possible branches for the SR, idk makes it a real tough decision.

  • @Flowmada

    Been looking forward to this
EDIT: After watching the video it's interesting the amount of information he cannot share as if he signed a non-disclosure agreement. I understand there's a clearance required, but by civilian he basically means you'll be working with three letter government agencies that may require additional intelligence operatives in the field or in a base of operations for military support.
The scout/sniper school sounded like a very open ended answer with no plans to officially make it part of the standard pipeline, but - like all special operations - if you can prove to your commander that the training would make you better enough at your job for the cost and there's a slot open - You should be good to go.
Demolitions was mentioned with the official AFSOC description - Yet, it wasnt discussed at any point. It seems as though this defaults to the same as the scout/sniper school where former SOWT guys with STS/Army units with environmental intel would be best suited to train in utilizing explosives to shape the battlefield like Army combat engineers.
Overall, it sounds like official changes are coming and stand-by. Otherwise, you're going through A&S like everyone else and going through a similar initial pipeline as everyone else and will be utilized by the air force to provide multiple aspects of intel to units and improve the efficacy of the Air Force's combat air solutions so that CCT and PJs can better execute their mission. One big, standardized, happy family

    • @steelevaz2567
      @steelevaz2567 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@jorgeestrada2505 yeah you get some long range weapons training of SR but the jobs gonna mainly be recon. You can also play with small uav robots, and some weather tech that you carry on you. So get use to rucking with some weight. Also SR go out and help find landing zones for planes and make sure the weather and terrain or good. Another cool thing SR is implementing is dressing up as a pedestrian and doing recon as a spy almost. TACP's are a leadership position where you are an expert with all weapons, you control air traffic, and drop bombs. There is a difference between a conventional TACP's and SOFT TACP'S. So the jobs are totally different.

I'm sure this info is scattered across your podcasts but what numbers should we be close to for each past event to not fail at prep?
    Pushups
    Situps
    Pull ups
    Run time
    Swim time?
I've been training inconsistently for this career and have no real goal in mind with the workouts. Of course, I have to beat the past first but I'd really like to know what numbers to pursue!
I'm in a painful process with the SG right now, was a 30 day wait and now am waiting 60 days.... I have plenty of time to train but the uncertainty of whether or not I can join really has killed the motivation to train. So any numbers help, thanks.

    • @Sunny-uh5bc

Pushups: >60 in under 2 mins
      Sit-ups:>62 in under 2 mins
Pull ups: >18 in under 10 minutes
Run time: 2 miles in under 10 minutes
Swim time: 500m freestyle swim in under 10 minutes
I don’t know what you mean by painful process with the SG...but I hope you realize this is the absolute minimum for being able to get your “foot in the door,” so they say. Get used to ruck matching with over 100 lbs on your person. If you haven’t ruck marched at all, I would suggest starting slow (25-35lbs) to avoid back injury/further delaying your ability to train harder and better. Good luck.
