    2007 Toyota Auris 1.4 petrol
    In this video we show how to put on new pads and discs on a 2007 Toyota Auris
    As you can see from the discs even though they are working we have a big spot in the middle where there is no contact to the pad and the disc this will seriously affect your braking and can cause the car to pull to one side and heavy braking which is dangerous and not worth the risk replace both sides then you will have no problem thanks a lot for watching

    When winding back the piston, the bleed nipple should be open and a pipe fitted to collect the fluid. This should prevent damage to the square backed piston seal from being damaged. Also pads with backing should not be greased as this can damage the backing liner in some cases, the fitting instructions will give advice.
    Remember to adjust the handbrake afterwards.
    Good videos, I hope this helps some of the readers,

      Paul Jeffreys the only thing I agree with you is about tightening the handbrake afterwards on certain vehicles but when you whine back the piston the handbrake adjusts on some vehicles so it's not an issue I've been doing this for years and know people that been doing it for longer than I've been alive never once had a problem pushing back the piston

      bodgit is to young to know that years ago the seals in the master cylinder was turning over when you pushed back the pistons. This is why so many cars was having the foot pedal go down to the floor when driving.

    Hi Leon, on the drivers side on these Auris's, does the drivers rear caliper retract the opposite way? The passenger one is clockwise piston going in and the drivers is anticlockwise going in.

    Great videos keep them coming. Off topic but with oil changes what do you think of those 12v oil pump extractors? For or against?

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arts&Trusts hi mate I've often used the 12 volts oil extractor you're safe on my video and especially for the newer cars with the plastic sump I have no problem in using them at all as long as you heat the engine oil to make sure it flows easier

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate the first of judgement you need to do is at the brake shoes against the drums and in the second adjustment you can do is at the handbrake cable but just make sure your handbrake cables are not stretched

    Great job. Can the car be on hand brake while the job is going on?

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate no because you want to test to make sure there's no binding as you are doing it if the handbrake is on issues inside will be on and you will not be able to turn it freely so you won't know if you have an issue

  • @michaelmcdonagh4651
    @michaelmcdonagh4651 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got both front and back brake pads and disc done on Toyota auris 2007 failed test because of brake imbalance why is this

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi mate it could be a couple of things maybe one of the brake pads on sitting in properly maybe you've got a lot of rust around the caliper and carrier and they are sitting in properly also the caliper could be slightly seized also you could have a bit of air in your system unfortunately is a few things you'll have to go through everything step-by-step if you've got really old brake fluid in your car your best replacing it as it could be contaminated with water

  • @TerryD15

    T remove a really stuck disc there is a threaded hole between the studs, I htink that it's M8. screw a bolt in there and Bob's yer uncle it will pop off

    Hi, why do the piston holes have to be aligned with the notches on the brake pad? What happens if they aren't? Another thing.... Sometimes my handbrake goes up 3 notches sometimes 5....what is up? I've got new rear discs pads and handbrake cables are only 3 mnths old. Thanks. Oh... And refurbed brake calipers!

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi mate it doesn't have to necessarily lineup just as long as it doesn't hit the little nipple sticking out of the brake pad this will cause the brake pad to wear unevenly and the piston not to to apply even pressure on the brake pad

    Why does the sliders have rubbers seals on them.

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard Worker it is so they don't get covered in bits of crap which will cause them to seize and not slide properly

    • @hardworker8030
      @hardworker8030 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean the rubber on the end of the actual slider pin and not the dust cover.

      Hahahaha I was once in an old Series 2 Landrover going down a 1:6 Hill and when my brother in law hit the brakes nothing happened then he pulled the Hand brake which on those old Landrovers is a transmission lock Geez we almost went thru the windscreen lol at least it taught him to always pump the breaks after working on them.

    Ooo jealous of that wind back tool, the spanner one I’ve got is a pita cause you got to try and hold the Caliper etc, also slight correction I think the medium grunt for the carrier bolts should have been an ooof ya twat surely? 🤣 I say that for all the k nobs who say, oooo u don’t want do it like that, no no no, you wanna do like this... jeees, anyway another great video I’m addicted to these.

    Any petroleum based grease is bad for use on slide pins as it can react with and swell the rubber seals. Synthetic/lithium based grease is best as far as i know.
