Couple of points from a native of Russia. That labcoat is typically required in most Russian hospitals to be worn when visiting certain wards. He’s definitely more respected in Russia than in the US (or rather people are less aware of his bs and look at him through rose glasses of nostalgia for the era when Hollywood was entirely new for us).
