Richard threw this game hard.
"I can't stop your engine. I need Seth to attack you" then saves Seth by destroying Crims "engine" LOL.
Maybe Seth is now the one getting away with it.
Proof that commander is above all else a multiplayer format. You could hear Seth's voice tense up with delight when he realised that Richard was about to hand him a victory from the jaws of defeat.
Appreciation post for our Dimir leader Lazagna for being a good guy
Thank you for equally representing the color pie Crimothy! We love you for it
What's that sick Kenjaku/Geto alt you show in the end there? Look's sweet.
The hero we needed, but not the one we deserved 😂
The 3v1 is real but I’m always rooting for you.
Gruul, Gruul, and Gruul with good Board Wipes. Dimir really was the hero here.
Richard: “swords is bad in commander.”
Also Richard: saves Seth immediately after he draws 8 cards.
We All Make Mistakes In the Heat of Passion, Jimbo
"Swords bad" has always been a bad take, frankly
When Richard said he was aiming for more combo wins this season I didn't expect it to be by protecting the opposing combo decks at all costs until they combo off.
Crim was straight up robbed by Richard and it gave Seth the game!
I love Richard's post-nut clarity like 30 seconds later when he realizes he shouldn't have done it.
I genuinely prefer this format because you guys actually say what you're doing aloud. Makes the game a lot more readable and listenable when I'm doing something else
I agree, plus there's no crashing and a wider card pool (aka all of the cards).
Yeah, i actually listened to this while doing work in the garden and i didnt have any trouble following the game
I always liked these episodes much more than just playing the precons anyone can.
Pour one out for Crim. Man is paying the price for us dirty artifact players. Someone check Richard's bank account, Seth's check should have cleared.
XD
I love that on paper these games can be edited and shortened so much more than on MTGO. It doesn’t feel like any content is lost, either, just no more fiddling with the client.
I do kinda miss crim punting with mtgo and the fail count or just breaking from Phil's token squads 😅
I hate these paper games. Everything was so clear before.
Enigma Jewel: What is my purpose?
Crim: You crack clues
Enigma Jewel: Oh my God!
And it did a great job!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
enigma jewel is an honorary detective
enigma jewel, omen hawker, thran turbine. the best 1 drops in food/clue/activated ability decks.
the other 2 seem extremely underrated though less broadly good.
Richard saving Seth was the throw in this match lmao
"Is the Mole God busted?" he asks, after drawing a million of cards with the Great Henge.
Richard with the complete throw. He could have just left Crim kill Seth then blow up all the creatures. Seth just drew 8 cards.
That mole with first strike is terrifying, might as well just read "can't be blocked."
Also, what? Seth's playing Great Henges and Demonic Tutors, drawing 8 cards, and Richard is afraid of ... _Clues?!_
He's afraid of the commander copying Phage, but obviously he should have let Crim kill Seth and THEN board wipe.
No Richard its only your fault, dont blame Crim for trying to remove a problem that you protected 😅.
imagine saving the one creature dominating the table and ending the player who was the only one trying to deal with the present problem and then saying "no one had removal" lol.. bruh the only thing you did all game was ramp and make sure everyone had open boards for the mole god player to free swing and draw a shit load of cards setting everyone else back. But Crim has a couple mana rocks some clues and hadn't done anything notable yet in the game. Richard can be exceedingly frustrating at times lol..
crim is the one player who runs enough counters and removals for most of the table and then he gets taken out and whoever has more power on board gets to punch everybody else in the face a lot of the time. it's wild to me since crims decks are almost never actually the threat until way later... judith on board meant richard coulda just ended crims deck whenever he wanted and let him do anything until then.
dunno why youd kneecap an asset when you can just dumpster him at-will if he turns on you
"Crim had an excuse, his mouth was full"
as if he didn't strategically choose that moment to eat something
The mole god with the mysterious "24" every time it attacked was confusing.
Also that save by Richard is the worst play I've ever seen Jesus Christ.
Why did it say 24😂
I don't know why Richard saved Seth. Like Crim's Phage trick was a one off xD If it'd been something he could repeat, different story though it wasn't. Fun commanders it looks like! Particularly the Mole God.
Crim could copy the phage each turn. Granted, Richard did have removal.
@@FormerlyTheGenius just re-read the lazav, I thought it was a single use but yeah it could be repeated. Cooler than I thought then :) Just if lazav got removed it isn't like Mairsil where it can still 'see' things previously exiled :(
@@DrukenReaps and richard could have killed lazav at-will with judith on board so crim was never really a threat... but the guy holding indestructible spells for his huge multicombat commander was ALWAYS a threat.
def a huge mistake to dunk crim before seth was dead
@@FormerlyTheGenius If you remove the commander it can't copy the cards he exiled anymore (if you recast it, it's considered a new object)
Richard's hate/fear of Crim is starting to become questionable. Crim tries to get rid of the problem, then Richards stops him from doing so and still says Crim is the problem.
Why can't he let Crim do his thing first then just targets Crim when he starts to go after him?
dont watch a lot of commander clash but in person gameplay makes me want to watch more. Really good idea
Poor Phil. He looked like he was the only one not having fun haha
feels like this happens a lot, Crim is doing literally nothing until he plays one somewhat scary card then everyone declares Crim as the threat and focus him down meanwhile the real threat at the table just gets away with it
Generally, it’s either fear of Crim and his scary card or always in hand mana drain (even if he’s mono red he has it) while he offers a Faustian deal and says let’s be chill, or Phil and his value must be shut down into a late game. Richard patiently waits and locks out opponent’s or has some cool machine gun combo, and Seth draws cards enough to maybe do cool silly things or not. Still pretty fun to watch though
This is literally my curse as well. A single, non-mana rock artifact comes down and the table forgets it's not archenemy lol...
I agree, but to be fair the scary card is “sacrifice a clue, attack with Phage” every turn the rest of the game lolz which is VERY SCARY, especially as the few lazav decks I’m seen already have a ton of ways to make it unblockable.
this is commander in a nutshell though. even in cedh sometimes its best not to be the first player going for a win.
Richard makes it more obvious then ever he has bias against crim when he stopped him from killing the actual threat
That's the problem with Voja. If you play slower building up a board of wolves you can get set back hard. I prefer to ramp as quickly as possible and slam him down to get the train going. Once you have a decent board established you can start adding to it/holding up mana for defensive interaction.
maybe he has a good amount of ramp and just missed most of it.
@@OvAeons that’s possible. I don’t want to speak for Phil but I think he was maybe waiting to draw protection since Judith can easily wipe the board. Kind of how Seth got the mithril coat in play. Easy to dissect as a spectator obviously I’m not trying to be overly critical. I love watching these guys play.
Dang was hoping for a game two with such a short game! Regardless, always lovely seeing y’all
Brooo why Crim always get targeted lmao and its always Richard starting it lmao 😂
I would have liked a bonus game for a sub hour long episode
Hey love MTG Goldfish. I watch a lot of content but have to say always had a hard time getting into your commander game play something about it being on Magic online just didn't click with me, but I am extremely enjoying this setup idk when it happened as I generally didn't watch the clash but if this is how you guys are playing now on that would be fantastic! if not, that is fine too, I enjoy your other content, the podcast etc. much love you guys!
This entire season has been paper play, if you want to go back and watch the few episodes
@@Niuttuc thanks for letting me know!
@@Niuttuc I'd like to mention here that I preferred the MTGO gameplay, we exist!
We really appreciate the feedback and happy you can hang with us as we get in on the paper fun!
@@TheAsianAvenger69I said it elsewhere too but 100% paper play is what made me finally start watching your gameplay videos.
I'm really enjoying the paper gaming this season. It's fun to see everybody's little quirks and how they handle their cards. it's the little things ❤
It's also fun to see everybody's secret layer and alternate art stuff. They really do play with what they say they play.
1) maybe it’s for the algorithm but shorter episodes need bonus games!
2) stats episode!!!
Or a game discussion at the end.
Denying the phage combat kill hurts me so much ....❤ Lovely episode gents, you showed of some very cool & powerful commanders
My wolf token commander deck got its best upgrade since Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves. Voja, Jaws of the Conclave is an absolute house!
same here ;)
i think these decks perfectly encapsulate the person playing them
I REALLY like the spelltable set up! No hate on the MTGO eps but man, this was just so clean and well put together!
I'm so tilted by Richard saving Seth. Usually he has better risk assessment
Richard has the energy of an anime character who is so good they Inflict certain conditions on themselves to make it a challenge.
Since you switched to this (non-online) format, I wished you would play a second game. The one game goes by so fast!
As a personal preference, I like when webcam magic has all 4 player mats the right way up. Its nice to simulate sitting at the table, but having everything the right way up makes it more legible for me.
Love the content.
Crim: Ima do a thing
Table: **sweats**
I kinda miss the 3 hour episodes once in a while tbh lol but I still love the new style.
That was darn quick!
You guys are awesome! Better than Netflix!
love everyone playing outside their comfort zone, even Crim playing artifacts! who coulda seen it?
Judith is one of those commanders that seems interesting until you realize it completely dominates creature-based strategies and gets completely dominated by combo, non-creature strategies (spellslinger, superfriends, etc), and Nevermore naming Judith. Talrand minus Talrand can still limp to the finish, but Judith tends to run too many dead cards. Death Pits of Rath is a good backup for the deck, but it still stumbles against too many popular strategies.
You can just build her as a value commander too, making a 2/2 for every spell is powerful by itself and there's plenty of redundancy in the 99. Overcommitting to the spell-deathtouch part definitely does what you said though
I mean... she didn't dominate the creature strategy on seths side because she gets BODIED by indestructible. but yeah she annihilated voja since phil doesnt run a million protection spells like seth knew he'd have to. You can just build judith with good cards and a couple cheesy things for easy value and otherwise get free imps and junk for sac fodder or w/e. She's pretty cool
It happens with literally every commander of this variant. Toshiro Umezawa, Horobi Death's Wail, Massacre Girl etc. They're extremely focused on creatures so they're either miserable to face when you're playing creatures or they completely hand you the game for free when you're not by dealing with the creatures while you just chill and build your engine.
This was great
I'm excited to try Voja in Tribal Tribal this weekend.
Loving the 'ghost' effect on the dead.
Love the live content🎉
What a fun episode! While true, was on the shorter side, I always love the bonus games. You guys always make such fun decks and it seems like a shame that we only ever get so see only a handful of cards from the deck. Case in point - Never got to see anything from Phil :/
I really like the change to paper.
Crim with the Drain shirt!
Ayeeee gotta show love for those NorCal dudes! Banger songs and live show
@@TheAsianAvenger69 oh for sure. So happy for them getting on the neck deep tour! I'm seeing that lineup next week and can't wait
have they ever done an all group-hug episode?
I would be astonished if Phil doesn't become a massive threat by turn 4. Voja has been nuts in all the games I've played against her
I just want to say richard punting this game by saving Seth's bacon is hilarious. I can't tell you how much I live for shit like that. He didn't even bend over seth over a barrel by making him agree to some deal.
Anyway this new format is awesome and I hope it stays. Or at least we see more of it in seasons to come. No crashing, more reading of cards/game actions, wider card pool. I hope Tomer's little hands are up for some paper magic next season
Never thought I'd say it, but since I'm always watching clash in the background, I do really miss the Modo slowness of the old games, cause it gives you way longer videos! Curious how the rest feels. After so many years of watching mtgo content, the graphics really don't bother me at all 😁 great game!
Love that you guys are playing with cardboard. So much easier to follow than Modo
Loved this game! Judith must feels so bad to play against since its boardwipe tribal and Voga is just busted
You should add commander damage to the layout
Richard still tried to find excuses to blame Crims to the very end. 😂
im glad you guys are doing it in paper I love it!
I’m building voja right now. This will be my first deck that’s not a precon
I just love that you change to paper. Its so much more like watching a table play a round of commander.
Richard not playing removal, demands removal.
Every week Crim says "Misery is back on the menu." And I'm wondering if it's on the menu every week when is it not on the menu for it to have come back?
Great game love the real card format! You could have copied that maze of ith earlier so when he goes to give Anzarag hexproof you can second maze it in response.
Hey seems like explorers scope would be insane for crim in most decks! Just needs to run at least like 6 basics (because you know if he plays 3 he'll draw them when he needs them in the deck)
Am i the only one that misses these being on mtgo?
The single green protection spells were clutch
I always stick my commander in my deck like that in the beginning haha. It just makes it clearer its not on the battlefield for me.
ive been loving my mole god deck
I also want to go on a Radventure, like the Cool Somnophage.
I think surveyors scope is worth playing if you’re playing bounce lands, lotus field, etc
or you play vs a lot of green decks with a non-green deck
as we get more phasing cards it might get better, phase out a land and ramp 3 for 4 total mana would be pretty good
Don't mind paper, but i really miss the longer videos. Nothing beats a good three hour clash.
Literally anything else does lol
This is a great example of why the great henge is 50+ dollars and ragavan is also 50+ dollars and the mole god is absolutely not busted
Ooh, 38 minutes... A short one. I always appreciate these Clashes because I can cram them in at 2x speed in the middle of my day
Sorry Phil. Voja is a house
You guys play Magic in a way I've never seen before. You have such a meta that you do and react to things that no normal pod would. I wouldn't call it good.
GOLRY TO THE HOLY MOLY
Does anybody know of a good upgrade to the blame game precon? Also love this video just starting watching last week
I'm loving the live play but i'm sad the games are so short now
Can we get a rerun of these decks? I'd love to see what everyone else had in store
I get that Richard board wiped the immediate next turn, but still it doesn't matter. It doesn't negate the fact that Phil didn't know that and he could have played his commanderand if he got to on. Tap and swing. He would have drawn like 5 cards and put a 1/1 counter on all his creatures.
Really miss the mtgo games. Watching paper commander just looks messy and its hard to tell what 99% of what the cards are either due to glare, the 80 different card arts we have now a days, or just because Phil has his whole deck into play lol(just teasing ya Phil).Being able to hover over each card and pause the video if i need to read it just seems better for watching. I really hope you guys go back to mtgo after this season. Either way, I'll still be here to enjoy Commander Clash on Fridays. Much Love
17:46 Did Richard forget an imp?
nah, he gave valakut rebirth deathtouch
I built Duskana as 2/2 tribal and she’s pretty sweet. I think I’m 3 for 5 at casual tables because the draw and buff become a bit relentless
I am enjoying the shorter games that come with playing them in person.
If Crim doesn't want to be the archenemy, maybe he could play less evil combos?
Richard!!!!! Why did you do this!!!!
Phil saved the episode not using the terrible artwork for his commander
Well, I figured that Seth would be "KILL HIM FIRST! He'll have 10 battle phases!!!" but I was....wrong and right, heh..
6:16 (COME ON, WAKE UP!)
Wake me up inside!
This format is much more enjoyable than magic online imo, tumbs up
wasn't the first creature Crim exiled a thing that gives his commander indestructible? Would that have saved it? I dunno the card off hand.
Mole is so good
Chiming in like everyone loves to, i prefer the paper play as well. It leads to people playing the game better for audio, when i listen to MTGO games you just never know whats going on unless you watch/unless every player is very attentive at saying what they've done, but when you play paper people tend to actually say the card they are playing and what it does every time.
Am I missing something? Lazav should be the copy of that changeling bull only until end of turn. Yet Crim kept putting counters on it during Seth's turn.
I'm curious... that 'prevent all damage, suspect all creatures, untap, gain another's combat phase' would that have left phil with two creatures and therefore "infinite" combat steps for Anzrag to mill Phil out with Ragavan?
No, Take the Bait doesn't prevent damage to creatures only combat damage done to Phil and his Planeswalkers. And even if it did prevent it to creatures, Ragavan needs to do combat damage for his ability to trigger.
@@WiLDRAGE777 Right, forgot about the simplest hole in my question. Thanks for the correction.
I wonder if Seth casts his Commander this game 🤔
On this week of "Punt or Bluff?" it's the supporting cast that *didn't* get off'd offscreen. Will everyone feed Phil to enter the mansion or will Crim do the ol' switcheroo with the victim? Tune-in to find out!
