Recorded live in the Konzerthaus Dortmund in January 2023 comes a characteristically adventurous programme from Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, who conducts the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in music by Raminta Šerkšnytė, William Walton and - with pianist Daniil Trifonov - Beethoven. Šerkšnytė's Fires opens the programme, a work commissioned in 2010 to be performed alongside Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and drawing upon motifs from that work. Then Trifonov is the soloist in Beethoven's sparkling Piano Concerto No. 1 before a performance of the Symphonic Suite of music from William Walton's opera Troilus and Cressida, a work featured on Gražinytė-Tyla's 2021 album "The British Project".

Diese im Januar 2023 live aufgezeichnete Aufführung aus dem Konzerthaus Dortmund präsentiert ein für die Dirigentin Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla typisch abenteuerlustiges Programm, bei dem sie mit dem Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France Musik von Raminta Šerkšnytė, Walton und Beethoven interpretiert. Zuerst erklingt Šerkšnytės 2010 in Auftrag gegebenes Stück Fires, das mit Beethovens Fünfter Sinfonie uraufgeführt wurde und sich auf Motive dieses Werks bezieht. Danach brilliert Daniil Trifonov in Beethovens schwungvollem Ersten Klavierkonzert, bevor eine sinfonische Suite aus Waltons Oper Troilus and Cressida das Programm abschließt. Das letzte Werk dirigiert Gražinytė-Tyla auch auf ihrem 2021 erschienenen Album „The British Project”.

Trifonov's performance at the end of the third movement leaves a lingering impression of the performance expressed with his own unique sensibility for a long time. I hear it over and over again.
This is a beautiful rendering of the composition from the conductor, the orchestra and yes Danil who does so much so well his playing is well..............magnificent!

Martha Argerich war immer meine Favoritin für dieses Klavier Konzert. Trifonov hat zu allen mit den beiden vergleichbaren musikalischen Kriterien dabei die unbestechliche Rhythmik von Argerich für mich auf ein tolles Niveau weiter entwickelt. Beide hätten aufgrund ihrer unbestechlichen time auch Schlagzeuger werden können.

Ну что Данилка, хоть попытался вначале смягчить немного устоявшийся стереотип Бетховенского мужества, небольшой плюсик за это, но никто, замечу, не играет украшение ре-ми-фа, на Третью долю прямо, как выписано неперечеркнутыми шестнадцатыми.

Er ist großrtig bei Chopin aber eben auch- man muss ja überwältigt staunen!- bei Beethoven! Nur von Bach sollte er vielliecht anderen den Vortritt lassen.
Zu unsere grossen Glück tut er dies nicht !!!
