As im 46 I'm familiar with everything musically in the 80s 90s 2000s, I love to watch some of those music and video reactions of those kids that never heard Madonna or big stars that are now out of their radar, but at the same time I notice that not all of the new stuff coming now are on my radar, so I thought it was missing the "reaction" perspective of the older people about the music of today, so you 2 together is just perfect because you can throw songs you love on each other and we can watch your reaction respective reactions :)
Bonnie Tyler!!!! I've been floored by that 😅. Never once have I ever heard Erasure and Boonie Tyler mentioned in the same sentence and i hope this is the last time haha. Great reaction as always - keep the Erasure songs coming (as well as all the other great tunes you've been picking)
I know right, Ty really floored me with that one, but that’s why we do the show, ha! Always more great songs on the way including erasure (my fav artist of all time) !
I'm not sure the númber of times that i danced this song with a beer in my hand. On the other hand, your son has a bad ear cuz i love to hate you belongs to the album " chorus" three years after a little a respect was released 😅😅😅😅 anyway i love your reaction
Hi ya guys another fab choice!!!! My fav off that album is chorus wow wow wow 🥰 seen um 32 times live met um after a gig in Wolverhampton UK and saw a live performance at hmv record store in Birmingham uk and also did a signing fantastic
Maybe he means I Will Survive, not Holding Out For a Hero. The instrumental part after each chorus is very similar to I Will Survive to the point that at one Erasure concert I was at, Andy even started singing some of I Will Survive during this song as a joke.
Its hard to explain music and the time it was happening. Kids today don't leave the house or even know what a dance club is. We were wide open going to the clubs with our fake ID's and partying like rockstars at 17. Depeche Mode and Erasure and The Cure and on and on was our culture.
Bonnie Tyler ? ?? Seriously ? To me , "I Love To Hate You" is much more related to Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" . And the similarity is on purpose.
Erasure has so much music to choose from. This song is good , but its not spectacular - like Drama- Blue Savanah- who needs love like that- IF I COULD- the list goes on. I haven’t even touched the surface. I get that isn’t too totally crazy about the song. Ya, but they are original so, its like comparing apples & oranges. Crackers For International is up beat and fun. You won’t get it until you see them live. Watch a live concert The Innocents - or Wild. Erasure is a Treasure ❤️
Hello Kathleen ... Yes I love chatting with big time erasure fans 😎 I have seen them live many times in Dallas 😎 in 1997 they did an "around the campfire" acoustic version of "Blue Savannah" and it was epic! So many great albums and tunes. "Ship Of Fools" and a newer one "Sacred" are my Favs 😎✌🏼
Erasure fan for 30 years and Ty is correct again. Maybe not about Bonnie Tyler comment but it is the most retro sounding track off of "Chorus". Any other song off of it would sound more modern than "Give a little respect".
Back in the day we just call it Techno hahaha. Little respect is from 1986, love to hate you is from 1991, so when you're son said sounds more retro make me laugh to.... BUT. thinking about it it has a few Disco sounds in there like clinking beat and the Sinth base style.
I love Erasure! I also enjoy Bonnie Tyler, but LTHY is nothing like I Need A Hero. But he’s young and cute, so we forgive him. Thanx for showing my favorite band some love. It was fun reminiscing back to the first time I heard this song. Got a little teary eyed.
I’m your sons age but I was brought up with this music. It’s one of those songs that would start playing and my mother would tell me how this was a great song for dancing and her memories at clubs. Maybe do OMD or other semi obscure bands next! And no, it does not sound like I Need a Hero 😅
You have to do the whole gamut of 80s and early 90's Synthpop now! Depeche Mode, New Order, Alphaville, OMD, Yazoo, Pet Shop Boys, Giorgio Moroder and more Erasure (Vince Clarke),
Of course we are. New Order, Pet Shop Boys, OMD & Yazoo coming soon! I need some time but I’ll get to everything asap. Can’t wait to get Ty’s reaction to all !🤘🏻
The boy is right. He feels ALR sounds more modern because of the disco style of LTHY amdthe reminiscense of Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive that makes the song sounds so seventies. I mean, it's not that ALR sounds modern, but LTHY sounds like a classical seventies disco hit.
Keeps saying "real synths". Back then the alternative to analogue were digital, they were still "real synths". Vince just went all analogue on this album and the next few.
Great insight, thx for bringing that to the show 🤘🏼I love Vince Clarke & his music. If I could have dinner with only 3 people just once in life he would be at my table!
I'm pretty sure that's Andy singing the background vocals when you said "the girls". Hehe. Yea, he can go that high. :) Also, Vince was REALLY big on doing all analog recordings. Another cool thing about Erasure, at least for a while, was that Vince would reprogram all the songs for the live performances, so that made the live experience feel more live vs just an exact reproduction of every sound from the album.
Thats right yes…….Vince does remix some songs for the live shows.! My Fav was a campfire 🔥 version of “blue savannah” on the 1997 (Cowboy) tour ! Erasure are true legends 🇬🇧😎
@@reactionextraction Yea, that was a cool version, but I'm referring not so much to "remixed" or different versions, but in the songs where they aren't 'remixed' ala the campfire version, he actually would reprogram each sound from scratch for all the songs for the live show. I read that it made the process of performing live more interesting for him.
Great show yes!!!! I’m not sure the venue exist anymore? What happened to the Bronco Bowl? Cool place to see a show. Guess now House of Blues is more Gucci, ha 😎
Love a bit of Erasure, feel they had peaked by this point, and were on a little downward bit, peak erasure is the innocents album for me,phantom bride and heart of stone are bigger songs than many later singles."Drama" is the top single of theirs for me.
I almost agree with you. They began to take themselves seriously and they lost their appeal to the wider audience. However I think I Say I Say I Say is their greatest album and both Andy and Vince show their best efforts to the vocals and synth programming.
LOVE this album, but not my favourite track on it. Joan is my stand out. I agree with Ty that, A Little Respect sounds more modern. Bonnie Tyler - DEAD.
Put the d@mn phone down and just concentrate on the music! When it comes to bands like Erasure it is the duty of older gays to teach the younger gay community why this music is part of our heritage. It is not just the instruments being used, but also the lyrics and the time in which it was created.
One of my favorite Erasure songs. I DJ'd alternative full time back then and this was a staple, at least on my nights. An absolute floor filler.
Great song, Great vibe !
"I like to know the killer isn't me" - What a lyric! Love Erasure!!
Vincent Clarke and Andy Bell. Legends
Total Legends in my book !
This song is SO GOOD! My favorite Erasure song!
One of my favs, just great all around! 😎
Erasures anthem, love the nod to 'I will survive'.
Yep that’s the idea! New & Old mixed together for a fun time! It’s fascinating how music can bring family & generations together! 🤩🤩🤩

@@reactionextraction One of my favourites too, been to see them live loads of times :). Any chance of some Pet Shop Boys at some stage?
@@reactionextraction It has more of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" in it than Bonnie Tyler.
Love they way my man is in the groove and feeling the beat.
How can you not move to Erasure 😎 Too many great beats 🎧! Vince & Andy are so fun!
I'm not sure the númber of times that i danced this song with a beer in my hand. On the other hand, your son has a bad ear cuz i love to hate you belongs to the album " chorus" three years after a little a respect was released 😅😅😅😅 anyway i love your reaction
Definitely a classic tune Alex 😎❤️🤘🏼
Hi ya guys another fab choice!!!! My fav off that album is chorus wow wow wow 🥰 seen um 32 times live met um after a gig in Wolverhampton UK and saw a live performance at hmv record store in Birmingham uk and also did a signing fantastic
Sounds fantastic, great band to see live, they always have such fun shows!
Vince is the analog synth master
I agree 👍🏼
That was a fun reaction to watch. :D
Maybe he means I Will Survive, not Holding Out For a Hero. The instrumental part after each chorus is very similar to I Will Survive to the point that at one Erasure concert I was at, Andy even started singing some of I Will Survive during this song as a joke.
I bet he did, ha. Andy is a true showman! 😎
Another cool and lovely reaction from you - love your channel.
I guess I'm more familiar with early Erasure because I didnt know this one. Saw them in concert opening for Duran Duran back in 87.
Cool show, great to see bands play live in their prime!
Erasure have a new album out, a new song called Based On A True Story is eclectic and epic.
I NEEED A HEROOOO
Drama video next, please. Their best song/video
Its hard to explain music and the time it was happening. Kids today don't leave the house or even know what a dance club is. We were wide open going to the clubs with our fake ID's and partying like rockstars at 17. Depeche Mode and Erasure and The Cure and on and on was our culture.
Fun Times 🤩 with some rad music !
Bonnie Tyler ? ?? Seriously ?
To me , "I Love To Hate You" is much more related to Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" . And the similarity is on purpose.
Yes totally agree 😎 but interesting to hear a kids ear ✌🏼
for refererence im 54 and ty is right i see his point. also great song
You have to show the classic video 📹.

They use a synthesizer to produce the sounds.

The song samples Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive! So yes, the song has retro/disco/gay vibes - That was deliberate by the band.
Back in the day we just call it Techno hahaha. Little respect is from 1986, love to hate you is from 1991, so when you're son said sounds more retro make me laugh to.... BUT. thinking about it it has a few Disco sounds in there like clinking beat and the Sinth base style.

Ha, great comments & those are some Rad memories. OMD on the way. Thx for watching, now that’s some valuable contribution to the show 🤘🏻
I can see the comparison to I Need a Hero, between the energy and the beat. And, yes, you should listen to that to hear what he's getting at
I’ll try 😬🎵👂🏼
Exelente album
Muy excelente album !

This is a recording of an actual live performance./ The studio version is different sounding
Lies, they literally sound the same.
Do people notice "I Will survive by Glória Gaynor" here.
Not sure !? 😎
And Go B. Tyler'!!!! (Lol)

Tell your son the connection between erasure, DM and yaz
We have a Yazoo reaction coming up where I do get into the Vince Clarke dynamic with all 3 groups yes, great question !
Перевод-Я люблю тебя ненавидеть.
Both retro bangers, and the two songs weren’t so bad either.
Keeps saying "real synths". Back then the alternative to analogue were digital, they were still "real synths". Vince just went all analogue on this album and the next few.

This kid reeeally needs to dive into early dance music, man! 😓
I get defensive of Depeche Mode in the same way - don't be comparing them to other musicians ...

agreed 😎😎
