Couldn't have said it better myself, the problem is there's a stigma attached to atheists. A lot of African don't have a choice about whether or not to believe in god because they would be ousted by their communities if they said they didn't believe in a god.

She lacks belief in God/gods/devils/demons/Satan.

I was a christian for nearly 20 years BEFORE I knew ANYTHING about its history. There were about FORTY gospels in use for over 300 years after Jesus is said to have lived. You ever heard of the 'Nicene Creed'? I still know it by heart. That was when Emperor Constantine and a bunch of bishops met for the First Council of Nicaea in the year 325 ad. They literally VOTED of which of the gospels would be canonized.... the rest... deleted. NONE of those _remaining_ gospels have known authorships. NONE of the gospels were written by the apostles. NONE of the gospels were written down until nearly a half-century *after* jesus was said to have died. The gospel of Mark was written first. (Interesting note: In the last chapter, verses 9-20 where NOT in the oldest copies of Mark. The forged verses include things like: you can cast of demons, preach the gospel to EVERY CREATURE, you're damned if you don't believe, you can *speak in tongues*, you can heal the sick, and my favorite one; one can handle snakes and *drink any deadly poison*. Those verses were ADDED to the scripture sometime between the 4th and 6th century.)
Mark was the shortest, least elaborate, and least 'miracle' oriented. Each gospel account after that, copied from Mark, and embellished more and more to the story. John and Luke are just 'hammed' up versions to one-up the earlier accounts.

There's not to much we can actually TEST here. There have been a few instances where a 'christus following cult' was mentioned by historians long after that time-frame, but only stating that they *heard of a group* of people who BELIEVE the scriptures. And even if there were contemporary accounts mentioning a Jesus-following group... it gets us no closer to answering the EXTRAORDINARY CLAIMS made in the bible OR the gospels.
Look, I'm not a "Jesus denier". Maybe he is an historical figure. So, what. In that time and place, dozens of people went around saying they were the 'messiah'. Google "Apollonius of Tyana".

It is so unfortunate I stumbled on this an year later, when I first came across a group of atheist it was around mid year 2016 two guys from KU I will never forget and me and my best friend were pretty much defending Christianity but after that debate we had a kind of chance of heart,my bestie and I went home and were like damn those guys just made wanna convert the funny thing is we actually won the argument we had killer points and stuff but after we sat down and thought about it long and hard it was clear they made more sense, I can not speak for my best friend no, but I can speak for myself. I have since then moved from Kenya to another country and I get her a point. The unfortunate part about it is the people who call themselves religious they are the first to break the rules and laws in their holy books I speak this from experience. Another sad fact is we are so confided to the so called religions that we tend to suffer for it the biggest and most common of all cases is our dear religious leaders their lavish lifestyles and their poor congregation. I grew up with a dad who was a pastor his example alone was enough to create an atheist in but you see with kind of society we have it makes IMMORAL if you do not belief in God I could go on all day but I will stop at this we need as community to think out of the box the box called religion we need more minds like this big up to this lady.

Unfortunately Jesus is not a historical person. Just stop been lazy and begin to study your Gospels.
To get to understanding of these books. Take 4 of the same version of the Bible, then open each Bible on different Gospels, ie Mark, Matthew, Luke and John.
Read each chapter of these Gospels simultaneously and compare the contradictions each writer has against the other.
They do not agree on how Jesus got his disciples, where he was born, how many donkeys he rode to Jerusalem, even the resurrection has different accounts, witnesses, what they saw or did not see, what was said and what happened.
Just study these Gospels wnd we can discuss other points that refutes the existence of such a character.

Our beliefs are imposed on us by both our parents and our society. It is not something that came naturally on us, like breathing, it is learned.
The worst thing about religion is that it does not allow critical thinking, you have to stop thinking or asking questions.
We are allowed to criticise a politician, a government, doctor or even jugde’s decision, but we are not allowed to ask or question religion.
Religion also likes to claim morality, when it lacks one:
1. The Bible in both New Testament and the Old Testament, encourages slavery.
The Bible promotes stoning of wrong doers?
It also encourages that one may abandon their family members for a belief.
If one could use the 10 commandments they will end up in prison.
You use Bible’s geography, and you will miss 99% of the of the world.
You take the Bible as history you will be bottom of the class, so is its biology.
You take the Bible as the book of cosmology you will know nothing.
Try and use the Bible as a medical guide and you will be sued for malpractice.
That is why we have the country’s law, why do we waste time and money creating bills that gets to be passed into laws if our morality comed from the Bible?
We get educated people, who spent years studying and practising law, to become our law makers. Why not just use the Bible as it is and then remove the judiciary and allow the pastors, priests, ministers and Imams to decide on cases?
Double standards, the very same Christians who thinks that raising a child with critical thinking is wrong; they themselves are not even teaching their children the Bible. What they do is just to instill fear in children like, if you steal or lie God will burn you in hell. They leave the rest to the Sunday School and the church.
What morals are you teaching your child by instilling fear?
I teach my children the real reasons behind doing wrong, simply like:
It hurts others.
It may cause other people not like you.
It may result in you been removed from us for a very long time, not been able to eat the way you eat at home or play with your favourite toys.
But mostly it will make you a bad person, bad people are not fun and their happiness is short lived.

I wont judge her version of atheism but I think it's an incomplete philosophy there are some un nuanced notions.I have not completed her story but I think this is a person undergoing cultural inferiority complex, and alienation.
