Cab Ride Košice - Poprad Tatry (Košice - Bratislava 1/3, Slovakia) train driver's view 4K

- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view on the Košice-Žilina railway line operated by Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, a. s. (ZSSK) from Košice to Poprad Tatry, the first part of the journey from Košice to Bratislava in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Košice - Žilina railway line is a railway connection in Slovakia that was originally built and operated by the Kaschau-Oderberg Railway (KsOd). It connects to the Čierna nad Tisou-Košice railway line in Košice and runs via Kysak, Poprad, Martin and Vrútky to Žilina. The line is part of the main inner-Slovakian connection between Košice and Bratislava. Poprad-Tatry is the southern terminus of the metre gauge Tatra Electric Railway, and, as such, is a gateway to the High Tatras mountain range, a popular tourist destination. The line was electrified between 1956 and 1961.
The fundamental modernisation of the Poprad-Štrba section for a line speed of 160 km/h began in 2020. The long-term goal is the complete modernisation of the entire line as part of the nationwide corridor between Bratislava and Košice. The modernisation of the Bratislava-Žilina railway line was completed in September 2020.
The line runs in an east-west direction mainly along the Hornád, through the Podtatranská kotlina basin and then along the Váh River. It touches some of Slovakia's best-known mountain regions, such as the Little and Great Fatra Mountains, the Low and High Tatras and the Slovak Ore Mountains.

Sunshine and scenery. Yet another great trip, and I think it was my first in Slovakia.
So different to Australia, and very beautiful. 😊👍
@martythemartian99 Oh, it is very different from the trips in Australia. I am glad that you enjoyed the ride. There will be a continuation soon. 😊
Splendid, eagerly awaiting the next stage. Such lovely countryside.
@CLIVEUSUK Great, I am glad to hear that. The next part is coming soon.
Hodnotím to ako domáci , veľa krát som tadial cestoval , výborná kamera , krásne počasie ...uvidíme , aké budú ďaľšie dva diely . Držím Vám palce .
@romankrsko8817 thank you.
The „Kaschau-Oderberger“, one of the most scenic lines in Europe. Thank you!
@folditullner9464 😊
Huh, video from my country. nice :) Thank you :)
@Adkraelo Glad you liked it! There will be some more soon...
I have enjoyed this video more than others. I think it is the scenery and even speed of the train. The route was also really clean at the stations. Was actually sad that it ended!
Just wait for the second part, it will be even more scenic!
@aj_from_sa3260 I am glad, as @themazeLE said, there will be a second an a third part available soon.
20:46, I started going for my phone, we literally have the same ringtone. 🤣
@avarielhr 🤣
Thank you, I'm enjoying this trip to Slovakia, I can't wait to see what happens next.
@user-gn8jt6vy7f Great. There will be two more videos from this line available soon.
@RailRelaxation looking forward to them coming out david 😀 👏
@JoshHodginsTrains Thank you. Have a nice Sunday.
@Artem96-kz3bg You are welcome, and thank you for appreciating it.
Amazing Ride 🎉🎉
@jasonjacob402 Thanks ✌️
Another great video, I'm already looking forward to the even more interesting second part. I've actually seen several cab rides on this route, but everyone does it differently.
I've also been there several times by train and visited one of the most famous photo spots along the route. But that was a few years ago, and the trains were not quite as modern back then.
When entering Poprad you can see brand new freight cars (the train with the ER20) from the Tatravagónka wagon factory there. They produce freight cars for the whole of Europe.
And the Gerlachovský štít is actually the highest mountain in the entire Carpathian Mountains, which also include the High Tatras.
@themazeLE O, great. I appreciate the information. You know the line already, so consider this an updated view😊..the next part is on its way.

@pentop9534 Thank you very much for your comment. I agree, I love this feeling to travel along beautiful green landscapes and to see villages, towns and the way people live. I hope that those old railways around the world will stay operating. Here in Europe there already are many just touristic railways. Like for example the Furka pass in Switzerland, there is a new, faster route that runs under a pass through the tunnel and the old line is used for heritage trains. And it is a treat for train lovers.
Most countries in Europe didn't have the "Shin" moment - basically railway network grew organically with new high-speed lines being added where needed, but integrated in the existing railway system and existing stations. Only country that does have mostly separated high-speed network in Europe is Spain, as their trains originally have wider gauge (1676mm), while new high-speed lines are built to standard gauge (1435mm) so trains can interoperate to France. But here difference isn't like in Japan, that original network was limited with narrow-gauge (1067mm) and high-speed network was built as "Shin" - completely new system separated from original and existing railway network.
Though we did have major closures of local lines, in 1960s and 1970s there were major closures of local lines (see the story of "Beeching cuts" in UK, but most countries had similar story), and also we do have many lines that are in poor shape (especially in Central and Eastern European countries, but also in richer countries).
PS: Google Translate is amazing 😀
Hello.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
In Japan, plans to convert to standard gauge (1435mm) were seriously considered from around 1910, and in 1917, the test line was converted to standard gauge and tests were conducted.
However, due to budgetary and other reasons, the plan was completely abandoned in 1919. If this had been realized, I feel that the current railway system, including the Shinkansen, would have been very different.
Although Japan is a small country, the population is still concentrated in large cities, and the trend of depopulation in rural areas is progressing, including the underlying effect of population decline.
The role of railways, which were the main means of transportation, is likely to change.
As a hobbyist like me, this is sad.
(I used Google Translate, was the English okay?)
Great ride,good Info along the way, great mountains .Greatings from Norway.
@mortenjohansen8148 Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks to you too.
Buona giornata e buona Domenica.

How green everything looks nice to see Slovakia,can you put captions in a black box it's very hard to see yellow on top of light background of track base thanks I never miss your posts
@user-cr2wx5uz7o Thank you for your comment and your suggestion. I tried various things, I think that a black box would obstruct a part of the video. I will think about it a bit more.
The Kosice Bohumin line for a certain stretch! well done David! I know this important line, the Slovak flagship line! It was renewed in the stretch from Zilina to Bratislava because the course of the Vah river has a less tortuous route. Here we see many Skoda locomotives of the Czechoslovak Railways. Finally a line that crosses the Carpathians and you can see the Tatras! I remember the shape of Poprad station! Nice video! We are still between the Hornad valley and then the Vah, which is the main outlet of the Danube in Slovakia. Nice line! I also recommend the route from Zilina-Cadca-Bohumin and also the lines in the Czech Republic, especially the Praha-Brno if you have the opportunity to do it! Or the Bratislava-Sturovo-Budapest which runs near the Danube.
@wladislaw79 Hello Wladislaw, thank you for the suggestion. I have done some of them already, they are waiting to be produced. And the line from Zilina to Bohumin is a great idea. I will look into it. Thank you again for your suggestion.
Great video, nice weather, scenery and driving. Greetings from Norway.
@pettloc4091 Thanks for visiting. I am on my way to Oslo right now. Greetings to Norway.
Great, hope you will have a nice visit here in Norway 😊
@pettloc4091 Thank you. It will be a short one, but hopefully will come again to see more of the country.
@frankhinzmann4901 That sounds like a nice holidays.
Very nice, but I think the map was to be for part 2 😅
@wyqtor Oh, I saw just now what are you talking about. I did that mistake, I apologise for this.

The route map at the start is incorrect. You have shown what I assume is the 2nd part of the trip, not the first. You used the Poprad-Žilina instead of Košice-Poprad.
@slovak_eagle You are right. I did a mistake and saw it just after someone reminded me after publishing the video. My apologies.

@halif5555 Thanks.
Impressed by noumber of passengers @Kysak, which isn't a big town in Slovakia. Are they going to modernize this route ?
Just 15-minute train ride from Kysak takes You to Prešov, which is third largest city in Slovakia (after Košice and Bratislava) and of course there are good timed connections to these Košice-Bratislava Express and Intercity trains. Interestingly enough, this Košice-Bratislava line connects directly 6 of 10 largest cities in Slovakia (Bratislava, Košice, Žilina, Trnava, Trenčin and Poprad) with two more (Prešov via Kysak and Martin via Vrutky) being just 10-15 minute timed connections.
Fares in Slovakia are very cheap (at least from a western perspective) and the express train line Bratislava - Žilina - Košice is the main route in the country. A few years ago this trains had 14 cars at peak times!
Nowadays, the express trains that run the entire length every 2 hours have only 10 cars, but there are also fast trains running between Bratislava and Žilina on the other hour, as this is the section with the most passengers. There are also a few IC trains with fewer stops, which offer a correspondingly shorter journey time. One pair of these even goes beyond Bratislava to Vienna.

amazing video but the map at the start shows the wrong section (between poprad and zilina).
@kubondroberk9942 Thank you for informing me, I did a mistake, only saw it after the video was already published.

Molto bello. Ma il viaggio prosegue? Ciao
@user-fmadmax Si, prosegue.
Hi. Where are you from? I did not know that even on Slovak railways there are foreign train drivers if it is purely Slovak routes within Slovakia. I'm used to foreign trains going to Budapest, Prague, Vienna...
I didnt know you also go on our routes, nice video otherwise
@davidzatorsky2382 I am Brazilian living in Slovenia. And I am not a train driver, I am just filming. There are Slovak train drivers that are driving.
@@RailRelaxation
Ahh I see, did you somehow arrange with the train driver that you can have a camera in the locomotive? Do you like life in Slovenia differently in Europe?
@davidzatorsky2382 I have to arrange the filming, yes. I like life in Slovenia, I live here for many years already.
19:34 minus bird
