Cab Ride Innsbruck - Feldkirch (Arlberg Railway, Austria) Train driver’s view in 4K

- In this video, you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view between Innsbruck Hbf and Feldkirch along the Arlberg Railway to Bludenz and from there to Feldkirch along the Vorarlberg Railway in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Arlberg Railway, which connects the Austrian cities Innsbruck and Bludenz, is Austria's only east-west mountain railway. It is one of the highest standard gauge railways in Europe and the second highest in Austria, after the Brenner. The 136.7 km line is a highly problematic mountain railway, in part because it is threatened by avalanches, mudslides, rockfalls and floods. It is operated by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and is frequented by international trains.
The Vorarlberg Railway is the western continuation of the Arlberg Railway through the Walgau Valley and the Vorarlberg section of the Rhine Valley.

Yep, it's definitely a Siemens electric locomotive. The distinct "melodic" sound of the traction motors when the train starts from a stop is a major giveaway.
@Sacto1654 😊
It's an ÖBB 1116 to be exact. One that has a third pantograph for Switzerland.
@@protogen_1414 You mean support for either 15,000 V 16.67 Hz AC or 25,000 V 50 Hz AC overhead power, used in some parts of Switzerland?
Trains are so streamlined now. They are quite beautiful in design. I remember the old red rattler mail trains with the compartments with two bench seats facing each other and luggage racks overhead. They were served by a corridor along the length of the carriage. In winter they had a metal container filled with hot sand which did little to warm anything. I used to take these trains on my way home from university.
@lynellewilson9112 very interesting. Thank you for sharing with us.
Nice video. I have fond memories of the Placeholder river... 🤭
This railway line is the most beautiful what I have ever seen.
@vaskon8 Great!
Was a vary nice view and the green Mountain hill side, it was great and the ride was something else, Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching. I am glad that you enjoyed it.
Perfect ride on an amazing line with superb weather to take a train! 😍 Done this trip many times; one of my favorite rides! 🥰
@jhcycling3098 Glad you enjoyed it! You know it very well, I guess.
I used to live in Motz and work in Innsbruck and St Anton, I have used this line many times, one or two changes since the 70s and 80s but it still holds many happy memories for me, thank you :-)
@andyrankine500 Great. I am glad that it brought back good memories.
Best rail channel. I am from NZ and was fortunate to travel on the old steam train from Wellington to Auckland and back in the 60's. Still remember choking on the ash as We went thru the Rimutaka Tunnel heading North. Slammed the window closed real quick. Really good - when I can't sleep put one on and relax. Thanks very much.
@johnmchardy1229 It sounds great, the journey you described. I am glad that these videos can get all the way to NZ.
This is maybe your best video yet. Stunning.
@Robytmro Wow, thank you!

Thank you for pointing the mountains. As someone who live on "flatlands" that is so interesting.
The weather and the clouds prevent to show and point more of the great and impressionating mountain-world of Austria and Tyrol!
@arikiiskinen They are! For me, the mountains are just something incredible beautiful. If they are covered with snow, it is amazing.
Excellente vidéo dans de magnifiques paysages. Merci.
@patrickp8883 You are very welcome.
Great video. The clarity of the route comes out better when overcast. I've seen plenty of videos on this route when it is sunny and in many cases the clarity is hampered by the sunlight.
@dimitriospaleocrassas432 Thank you.
Such a beautiful ride. Dramatic in the cloud mood. And the interesting locomotive that plays the C major scale every time it starts moving. This ride here is one of the most beautiful rides. Thank you for taking me. This video come on my favorites.

what a series of landscapes... just breath taking!
@chrisl.9750 True. It is an amazing journey.
Here we are back in Europe, I'm only now commenting on this video, but I've seen it several times! Beautiful setting in a spectacular valley, passing through the Arlberg Tunnel, an interesting engineering work on a par with the Semmering Line and the many Austrian lines. Beautiful scenery when the Taurus, after touching Wieseberg Castle, crosses the valley, going through the tunnel and the mountain. Too bad the train didn't arrive in the town of Bregenz on Lake Constance. Beautiful video as always!
@wladislaw79 Maybe next time. I am eager to do this trip in the winter....

I travelled over this line in 1991 on a train from Innsbruck to Zurich. I had lunch in the station Restaurant at Innsbruck (Rosenkavalier?) having travelled from Salzburg to Innsbruck via the all Austrian Route. And My late partner and I went on the Brennerbahn in 1993 just from Innsbruck to Brenner. Very very scenic both lines
@chriswade7470 Nice memories. It is a very nice line to travel on.
Great job, thanks a lot!!!

@hamster0815p Hello! Thank you very much for your support. I am glad that you appreciate my work. I wish you a nice Sunday!
@@RailRelaxationI have also a question: In Innsbruck Main Station, on the right side is this a Italian trainset? Stadler Flirt?
@@hamster0815p yes, it was actually that. However, it was unscheduled because there were problems on the Brenner. That's why the regional trains went from Bozen to Innsbruck and not, as planned, to Brennero Brenner 😊
Epic ride !!!!

In case anyone else was wondering... The "Talent" is a multiple unit railcar manufactured by Bombardier that was developed by Waggonfabrik Talbot in Aachen shortly before the company was acquired by Bombardier in 1995. The name Talent is an acronym in German for TALbot LEichter Nahverkehrs-Triebwagen (in English, Talbot light suburban railcar). Thanks, Wikipedia.

An exciting ride with EN 464 through western Tirol (Oberinntal and Stanzertal) and eastern Vorarlberg (Klostertal and the Walgau). Only the weather could be better ...
thats the EN from Graz to Zurich with cars from Zagreb, if im not mistaken?
also at Bludenz you can see the EN 446 (i think it is) from Wien Hbf to Bregenz with DDm car transporters going to Feldkirch.

Thanks for giving the name of Martinswand rock, I saw it on another video couple of days ago but couldn't find out what it was.
@mikewilson730 Glad to help!
Great video, amazing views. Qestion: why this train goes sometimes on right track, and sometimes on the left?
Dispositive Gründe (reasons of disposition).
Very beautiful video on this beautiful railway! Was that recorded on ÖBB Railjet?
It was recorded on EuroNight from Zagreb to Zurich.
Great ride-a-long, thank you for sharing.
The numbers on the electrical posts on the right side of the line seem to give the distance travelled from start of journey, was i right in thinking that or just a coincidence? They changed to 66.8 from the last few stations..
@mt.space.in.ear. I am not sure either.
are those slow single track parts after Ötztal nimby problems?
though kinda heart wrenching seeing all those abandoned stations
But nevertheless I have to correct something: the bridge in minute 1:24:35 is not the "Wälditobelbrücke"; it is the "Stelzitobelbrücke (L 28 m, H 6 m)". And at 1:27:08 is the "Lawinenschutzdach V" called "Lawinenschutzdach Gipsbruchtobel (22 m)". Only to mention it, quasi by the way.
@montgomeryscott1656 Thank you for the corrections.
Hi, will there be any video from Czechia? There are some nice landscapes like Praha-Dresden.
@holyspiritshine Yes, I have plans to film there too...don't know when though..
A very very great cab ride. You drive this Train? When yes i have 2 Questions ! 1. Who is the Windowcleaner on the rain and 2. who is the Trainlight in the tunnel ? LG.
@TheBulli67 Thank you for the compliments I do not drive the train. I just film.

@user-np7se4cs6t Thanks.
Interesting and beautiful video. Thank you. Question: a mountainous section of the road, but why is it not equipped with catching dead ends? This is not the first video from the Austrian railways that I watch and I don't see dead ends anywhere in the mountainous sections of the road?? After all, traffic safety is above all, especially passenger. Here is a question.
@ZuegigeZuege You have to get a permission, I am not in the cabin, I just install the camera. If you want to be in the cabin there is a cost, I am not sure how much it is, but there is a fee.
@@RailRelaxation Ok, thank you for the information!
I am curious about something. Is the camera on the outside of the train? Because the train sounds are too clear, like being outside.
If so how did you put it there for such high speeds?
@AdrianMihu The camera is outside. I use different equipment, it depends on the train model.
@@RailRelaxation thank you for the clarification 😁
Keep up this work, it’s truly beautiful

I'm curious to know why the line goes through such a long tunnel at St. Anton am Arlberg. I was hoping to see more of this city from the train. Otherwise I loved this video.
Well, St. Anton am Arlberg lies - as the name suggests - on one side of the _Arlberg_ (which is the single most important mountain pass between Vorarlberg (lit. before the Arlberg) and Tirol, two states of Austria, while Langen am Arlberg lies on the other side. The pass is about 800 meters higher than the tunnel and has a gradient of about 7% via many switchbacks if you go up by car - a route that simply isn't feasable by train. So you don't miss any part of St. Anton (which is a tiny town of 2.3k inhabitants), but rather skip an entire mountain going through that tunnel. Until the very recent creation of a road tunnel paralleling the rail tunnel there was a piggyback train running the tunnel, so you could take your car through the mountain instead of up and down a steep, dangerous and long mountain pass.
Thanks for the explanation ☺
Was there a Zwangsbremsung (penalty braking) from the PZB at 1:55:00 or why did the train stop there?
@SuperPaul5000 I am sorry, as I was not driving, I do not know exactly what happened.
The Feldkirch entry announcing signal shows “Main signal clear with a maximum of 60 km/h”. The driver did not comply with the subsequent mandatory speed reduction (speed curve) and drove too fast. This then inevitably leads to emergency braking.
👍

@Johnnyr-yb7ff Guten tag. It was...
Did the driver get a PZB Zwangsbremsung at 1:54:57 ?
@sncf271 I don't know for sure.
Yes. The distant signal before showed "expect 'free at 60km/h'", which activated the PZB. This means that the driver has to reduce the speed to below 85km/h within 23 seconds, but after that time he still did 96km/h - resulting in a "Zwangsbremsung".
@@stephanweinberger Thank you for the explanation.
1:54:50 Why did it perform an emergency stop? There is no signal
@Emilien-hy3sy I am not sure.
Gut aufgepasst!
