I love this game. Reminds me of old school games where it's just wacky fun gameplay instead of movie-esque or competitive or ubisoft-like games that are so frequent nowadays

It reminds me of Duke nukem and rachet and clank but a lot better and fun doesn't take itself seriously and the fact that it's open world is even better makes the game feel alive and immersive

As someone who hasn’t watched a single moment of Rick and Morty, I’m thoroughly enjoying this game. I’m glad it’s so whacky because so many major releases are generic cookie cutter shooters. At least this, and Pentiment is another example, are trying whackadoodle ideas to expand the medium. A few performance issues on my XSX but other than that it’s… oddly engaging.

This game feels like it came out too late in the overall popularity sphere of Rick and Morty. It would have killed if it came out during Rick and Morty seasons 1-3.

Being drunk and stoned this game was amazing. It’s like the perfect game to unwind after playing so many hours on BF.

It's so weird in such a good way. Not the most amazing game ever, but I had fun with it. I would recommend it for gamepass owners cause it's actually a pretty good time.
I cant believe when i was playing this game it got me watching Tammy and the Trex unironically for 20 mins, this game is so awesome and dont let the reviewers tell you otherwise.

All the weird random tv shows grabbed my attention for a good full 30 minutes. That's another thing i like about it. It sucks you into these weird conversations you would have otherwise passed by.

Was one of my most anticipated games of the year and played 4 hours so far. Luckily I dig it and I’m having a blast.
You can adjust the chatter frequency. Default is high, can be reduced to occasional or turned off entirely.
If you reduce it will be boring as hell, the chatter is half the game 😁

Only killed the first boss, but so far I love it. Definitely my kind of humor that is nicely paired with some fun gameplay. Give it a shot if you can!
The thing is with Rolland’s dialogue, is that every line of dialogue is a family cut away gag, and it loses its novelty quickly when he uses the same structure for every joke. There is a line between useful dialogue between characters, even joking banter between characters, and just in ending babble
Haven't played the game yet, but Roiland's style of dialogue is just too breathless. You barely have time to laugh at one joke before they've made two more. He's got a ton of ideas, but I think the show would benefit greatly by slowing its pace, even slightly. Same flaw with basically all new blockbuster action movies (replace the jokes for huge CGI sequences). It's a cemented trend and it fuckin sucks
The thing is though that is the very reason people who enjoy his dialogue enjoy it. It is just not for you and that's fine. No need to try and break it down and fix it. There is nothing wrong with it. It clearly works, its just not for everyone.
Yep. I enjoyed Rick and Morty S1-3 but now its just same old same old. Gave the game a shot but again, it's just more of the same.
Wacky humour works when it's...wacky. Do it enough times to the point it's predictable and it dies.

The gameplay and style of the game reminds me a lot of Journey to the Savage Planet.
I don't have a problem with the game, but this is the type of humour where all your friends will tell you how gut-busting laugh out loud funny every moment is, then you play and four hours later you haven't even cracked a smile and you're wondering if this is even the right game they mentioned.

You'll either laugh at the funny random unexpected dialogue

And that's just one example.

Good thing you can just get sweezy and use her for the rest of the game. She doesn't talk too much, but it's always on point.
This game is so good. Not just the humor either. The gameplay is phenomenal, and when you get kitted out and are able to smoothly switch between wepons in combat move around the battlefield really fluidly
Some aspects like the enemy behaviour, subtitles trampling over each other, and the underpowered-ness of all the guns but Kenny are definitely up there in experience issue.
But maybe we could just bully Justin into fixing these bugs, like what you guys did with Cyberpunk
Oh shoot forgot to mention the lack of polish in some of the animation transitions
There was a time I never would've looked at a game like this but I downloaded it on to XB yesterday. I just looks like a lot of fun without taking itself too seriously.

Lots of games have talking guns nowadays (e.g. Skippy in Cyberpunk 2077 and a few guns in Borderlands 3), but not all do it well and none base the game around those interactions. This looks like a unique experience.
What makes me super happy, is that this game is an example of growth within the games industry! While playing through God Of War I realized how detailed the dialogue was. And now seeing this game, it’s another great example of that! And it’s just different… which is something we really need after a stale several years of blandness.

Ironic that they both focus a lot on dialogue but go for two completely different styles writing wise
_High on Life_ somehow reminds me of _Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath_ with the "organic guns".
Tried the game for 2 hours, I loved every minute of it. Most definitely the game I’ll play this week after work.

You can also turn down the amount of "Banter" that your guns/weapons do if it bothers you! Just go into the settings & you'll see the options.
And fall asleep then 😂

I just started the game and my favorite part so far is when you shoot the kid you get the achievement Fall Out Does not let you do this that was hilarious.

You should also realize that GP will lead to games devalution if there is no return.. the games will get cheaper to buy (free) and will be cheaply made
I need reviewers to start looking at ALL SETTINGS so repeating things like "dialouge" won't be an issue because there's a setting to LOWER THE DIALOUGE OR TURN IT OFF.
Kinda reminds me of one of my favorite games, rogue trooper. The guns talk to you too. Your squad dies and you put their chip on your gun and you can use them along your travels. One was a medic, one a gunner... I forgot the other. But you get them over time, not all at once. It was a great underground game, back on ps2. I have it on my Xbox series s. Not remastered or anything but not every old game needs one.
Can't wait to play this. Only a couple hours left. I also gotta watch Rick n Morty.
Tobacco made the music. Iv been a fan of his for over 15 years and saw him play in someones back yard. Now hes on a big ass game. His music is great and hes a really nice guy to hang with.

They still talk a lot for story reasons.
It's pretty freaking easy if you like Rick and Morty you're going to like this game we all know Justin roiland's humor if you like it you're going to like this game this game is pretty freaking fun I love it and I stick around for the random dialogue that continues there's so much of it
Trover Saves the universe was fun for a while for me, but the dialogue does get old after so many hours. Can't just sit down and play these sorts of game in a long session, at least for me. I need to play in bursts, have a laugh and then come back to it another day.
I get a feeling imma have some fun with this. So far this year I’ve beaten god of war Ragnarok, Elden Ring 3 times, Cyberpunk 2077 twice, Forbidden west, Halo infinite campaign, Resident evil 2, 3 and 8, the last of us part 1 remake and just finished that cheap dead space game forgot the name already but it’s all been serious and heartbreaking shit I will Defo enjoy some Rick and morty humor

I don’t think it’s the review scale, just the reviewers. They can tell us there personal issues with the game itself, but the review has to be non bias. Like Gameranx, aka jake who always makes it clear about subjective parts of a game and at the end of the review he doesn’t hold what will be subjective like humor effect the overall worth of a game
The problem isn’t that these negative reviews simply “don’t find it funny”, it’s that it offends them. These people made up their minds the second they saw the game was being made by Justin roiland because they hate his humor. In one of the low reviews I read, the typical games journalist was crying about a suicide joke and how the jokes in general were “too taboo”
I’m sure some of the jokes just simply aren’t that funny, but any other normal human being who isn’t miserable and looking for reasons to be negative is gonna enjoy the majority of it.
Reviewers who give a game a 1/10 based on only one aspect of the game deserve to be fired and their review not be counted

For anyone that this will help, you can choose the frequency of the random dialogue coming from your gun. It’s helpful if you like the dialogue but find it to be occasionally overwhelming
It’s been a good game so far I’ve had a couple weird enemy glitches where I’ve had to reload because the enemies disappear and can still shoot but it’s a change of pace and reminds you how to just laugh while you play a game!
I've been waiting for this game since it was announced a while back. It was very quiet, but running in the Rick and Morty circles you were bound to hear about it very early on in its development.
With myself it has always been about the gameplay, I can ignore everything else if the gameplay is up to snuff....few reviews I have seen have barely touched on that part lol
I’m 4 hours in so far, gameplay wise it’s got a good loop and feels different to anything out there atm. Definitely worth at least trying. I’d give it at least 2 hours and complete the first bounty mission before you either quit or play on. Start to get more and more equipment and gameplay features the longer you play. Comedy at least for myself is the main draw though.

The game rocks, the Easter eggs are incredible as I sit in the games theater writing this, the humor is subjective but most of these bad reviews are written by unhappy people unable to unwind and just chill

It’s really engaging and fun… there are a few minor performance issues (on my Series X) but other than that (which should be patched soon) it’s weirdly gripping. Try it out :)

I love it. People want something different or new. Well this is it and its structure pays respect to metrovanias. Great game despite its humor. And the humor isnt bad its just nonstop but you reduce how much weapons talk.
Your analysis is pretty spot on. Been playing it over the weekend and pretty much thought the same thing. I am seeing reviews being a bit harsher than I expected considering how surprisingly varied and fun the actual gameplay is, but then again, I should have seen that coming considering the Roiland backlash we've seen in recent years.
The game could certainly use a performance patch on consoles...

Performance issues. I played uptil krubis just an hour ago on my xss and I really haven't seen any thing that is an issue. Game plays very smooth.
@@simchaschneider6600 i'm playing on a series S and the framerate are all over the place, almost never hitting 60fps, i'd say it runs between 40 and 55 fps so it's not that bad but it drops from highs to lows too quick
For people who don't like the constant banter, can change it in the options so its only at the important parts instead of all the time.
The great part about this game is if the talking is too much they gave you an option to tone it down or turn it off completely

The thing is, with a random game like this, it's wrong to say it's a bad game because the game isn't for you and it isn't what you wanted to be, because it's not a sequel or part of a series, it's the first game, so you can't really have expectations, and what expectations you did have from the trailer and what this guys creations are like, it's probably exactly what you expected. But with a game like TLOU 2 that was SO highly anticipated and impossible not to have expectations and theories, hopes and desires from what the game would be like based on the first game, I think you can say whether that game is good or bad based on your preferences because it was so popular and story focused, it isn't a case of the game wasn't meant for you because it was meant for everyone that was a fan of the first game and wanted to see the continuation of that story and those characters, only to have expectations subverted and hopes and desires crushed. It's not the game people wanted or expected it to be, and for some that's a good thing, but for others it was disastrous garbage
Pentiment is similar in the respect that it's polarizing. I probably wouldn't have purchased Pentiment but played through it on GamePass and loved it. I'll be giving High on Life a try as well.

I downloaded on gamepass just to give it a try and im hooked now. Its fun as hell, genuinely makes me laugh every so often as well. If u have gamepass i recommend a download
I was really interested in this game until I found out that the movement keys on PC are hard bound to WSAD, you just cannot rebind them, until they fix this I'm not buying. What is it with devs these days not bothering to do the most basic of things that have been done on PC since the 90's. On top of that there is no FOV slider so if you suffer from motion sickness of just don't like a zoomed in view your stuffed and apparently you cannot turn off motion blur as well, just sheer laziness.

Its not the scale thats the problem. People feel the need to rate high or low you never really see an average of 5-6/10 anywhere

Imagine this talking gun gimmick in the annual call of duty title it would drive you nuts.

Honestly he’s right, if you like rick and Marty humor and have game pass, just play it. If not, wait for a sale or something. It’s a fun one time play through type of thing

Do the 2nd bounty option first after beating 9T. You’ll get your 2nd weapon sooner and there’s a hidden achievement that you miss if you do the other way.
I can’t think of the names but the bounty on the right with the dome helmet is the one I’m talking about

I wouldn't say it got no hype, no media or press. IT's pbeen pretty well talked about and of course have Justin Roiland attached is still super hot right now.
I like Roilands humor and not enough games really lean into being just funny and irreverent, so I'll be checking it out.

I hated last night and a big problem I noticed was the camera shaking like crazy during animations or cutscenes, but otherwise awesome game.
I finished the first big level and man I love this game and boy the Easter eggs! I won't say what but it literally took me out of the game and I forgot I was playing a game and it was perfection 😂
