Grete Pihlak I agree with all you’ve said, your analysis of the song is spot on, my only reasoning for categorizing it as a love song (from my subjective perspective) is because Fantine primarily discusses love unrequited and a love lost as the reasoning for the “dream she dreamed” - because of this integral underlying theme of love central to the entirety of the song itself, I view it this way. I agree "Little Fall of Rain" is a "sadder" song, but only because "On My Own" sets it up. If you didn't have the first, the second wouldn't be as sad.
SADDER yes but it's not solely focus on UNREQUITED LOVE but more of making the best of that moment while bidding goodbye to a person u love the most. Again the Context IS DEDICATED TO UNREQUITED LOVE
Okay, "On My Own" is absolutely deserving of the spot but the explanation of why is so wrong. What makes Éponine's story so tragic is: she's poor, she's starving, she has parents that abuse her, she has to assist her father in his criminal schemes in order to stay alive, and her only friend whom she deeply cares for will not love her back or even really give her the time of day. This character is in a dark pit with no way out and the one light in her life she does have will not help her or try to save her. What makes it so sad is that this song is Éponine's self realization that she isn't loved by anyone and has no way out of her situation and realizes it doesn't even matter if she lives and is honestly probably better off dead and ends up dying in order to be released from a dark torturous and loveless life. She is someone who searches for hope even though there's no hope to be had. She's someone who despite coming from the scum of the Earth is a genuinely good person but is ultimately doomed despite her efforts to be good. That's what makes this song of unrequited love so sad: She ultimately realizes she has no love in her life from anyone and that she'd be better off dead. That's what makes this so sad. And it's this setup that leads to me crying like a baby during A Little Fall of Rain every time I hear that song. The two together paint the heartbreaking fate of the character and the unfortunate fate her circumstances have forced her to meet.
@@lovelion2001 I haven't necessarily had something like that, but I can identify with the feeling of someone moving on and you being left behind trying to understand what happened and what went wrong, be it a friend, a family member o a partner. I don't relate to the specific situation but I relate to the overall feeling the song conveys. At the end of the day, it does depend on your life experience and how you have overcome them. Some of the songs in the list don't get me, but some others make me shed a tear every single time.
I ugly cry for that song. It is just that... they were so happy... so in love... so perfect for each other... and of all the couples in that musical, they were the one to be separated permanently.... I cannot forgive the writers of Rent for doing that.
i’ve been through this!! i know it’s hard but just know you will be okay, and eventually it’ll just be something that happened. i hope you both find happiness soon! 💓
What more can I say feels like a gut punch because it shows how much Marvin grew and how much he loves whizzer and then something bad is happening is the song right after
I wouldn't class "Movie in my mind" as a love song, it's more of a lament of their shitty lives as prostitutes in Vietnam. "I'd give my life for you" and "I still believe" though would both be strong contenders, both so tragic, the former though is more familial love rather than romantic.
Given how that show plays out, I would argue that quite possibly one of the saddest songs in it is "Last Night of the World". It's already got the feeling of two people desperate for something real and strong in this terrible, place, but then the ending of the show makes it so heartbreaking in retrospect. Though "I Still Believe" was a contender I also thought of, too.
When I saw Les Misérable on tour this year, I shed tears among tears during On My Own. It honestly hurt because it's so relatable. At the time I had a huge crush on this guy that didn't like me back. He knew I liked him and I even asked if he liked me back and he didn't give me a straight answer. I have since gotten over those feelings, but damn, that song still pulls at my heartstrings.
I really love goodbye love, but the extended version (though I'm still mad they deleted the scene, it's so beautiful and important!!!) it kills me every time, I listened to it while my best friend died in my arms...
10) I'm Not That Girl 9) Mr. Cellophane 8) There's a Fine, Fine Line 7) If I Can't Love Her 6) Satisfied 5) Loosing My Mind 4) I Don't Know How to Love Him 3) I'll Cover You (Reprise) 2) Somewhere [Loving You] [As Long as He Needs Me] [Unworthy of Your Love] [I Know the Truth] [Not a Day Goes By] 1) On My Own
Right!!! When I saw the movie, it tugged at my heart strings. It's bad enough not to have that one person love you. But to feel unloved and invisible to everyone... :(
I had a crush on a guy during high school. He was really friendly with me and we actually hung out and everything after school, but I knew deep down I know he would never have the same feelings that I did for him so I would always cry when On My Own played on my phone.
Honestly while I love “on my own”, I think “I dreamed a dream” is far more poignant, especially from the perspective of Fontaine, who’s truly been reduced her lowest point possible at that point. It isn’t just hope for love she’s lost, it’s essentially her will to live. Both songs still make me cry though.
lol The context of this list is UNREQUITED LOVE. I DREAM A DREAM (love this song) though contain parts or element tackling unrequited love its not the MAIN AGENDA of that song. While ON MY OWN's ENTIRETY is all. about UNREQUITED LOVE. How come u failed to comprehend that?
I agree, but it’s not really a love song. The whole point of the song is that, while Frollo, Quasi, and Phoebus are obsessed with Esmerelda, she wants nothing to do with them. All she wants is for her people to be treated fairly. In my opinion, In A Place of Miracles should have been on the list. The parallel of Phoebus and Esmerelda singing about their future together, and Quasimodo singing about how he will never find love is absolutely heartbreaking
I've been dealing with the repercussion of that for 3 years. Falling in love with, got rejected by, losing and missing your best friend is devastating. On my own is the soundtrack of my life.
I would honestly give "On My Own" and "A Little Fall of Rain" a tie because they're almost like companion songs. In the former, Eponine sings about imagining Marius walking with her in the rain. In the latter, she's finally with Marius in the "rain," but in this context, it's the blood of her fatal wounds rather than literal precipitation. "A Little Fall of Rain" is also to the same tune as a song where Marius sent Eponine on an errand to find out about another girl (Cosette) for him, and this connection seems to suggest that as Eponine dies, it's like she's acknowledging that Marius loves another, even though she's pretending he's there for her. It's also a sad song because the lyrics are actually happy. Instead of lamenting her death, Eponine sings about her joy that Marius is with her, and she'll finally fall asleep with his arms around her; her death is the happiest moment of her life. Meanwhile, you can tell that Marius is starting to realize how much he tortured Eponine by using her as a messenger between Cosette and himself, and he feels guilty and wishes he could make it up to her somehow, but it's too late; all he can do is comfort Eponine as he dies. As for "On My Own," it's to the tune of Fantine's death song. Fantine also died for someone she loved (but in this case, it was her child rather than a man), so the melody of "On My Own" indicates what will shortly happen to Eponine. There are also some songs where a character complains that another character doesn't love him/her, but by the end of the show, they're together. This is not one of them. Eponine's love is never reciprocated, so yes, she really is on her own, and she's going to stay that way...quite literally for the rest of her life.
literally watched this video just to see if what would i do, unlikely lovers, or games i play was on the list.. disappointed that none were because those are without a doubt the saddest!!
"Send in the Clowns" from 'A Little Night Music', written by Stephen Sondheim, would be my pick for saddest Broadway love song. Desirée's anger and heartache upon realizing that Fredrik, the man who once loved her and proposed to her, has now rejected her late offer of marriage is simultaneously beautiful and excruciating to witness. A truly magical and tragic musical moment.
the manic energy of "my sister!" during helpless is so relatable. Burn and it's Quiet Uptown and are tearjerkers and tragic songs, revenge and begging for forgiveness, but Satisfied? this is a song of letting go of a love before it can begin. what a gut punch.
Man hearing Jennifer Holiday sing that song should make any man on the planet not ever want to break a woman's heart. The pain and anger that woman sings with you want to break character and say you know we are just acting right?
My good friend sang “On My Own” at her fiancé’s funeral, he passed away, suddenly, beside her while they were sleeping. It brought on a new meaning to the song, suddenly realizing she now had to take on the world alone. She is now happily in another relationship, and they have a daughter together. But, god, do I feel the ache in that song.
Oh my God, that must have been devastating for her! I'm glad she was able to eventually move (happily) to another relationship. But I can't imagine how she got through that song without breaking down. I'm in tears even just imagining it.
Any song Lea Salonga sings before her character dies. lol Though seriously, you could've filled this entire list w/ Les Miz songs. BTW, at 15:59, the 10th Anniversary Dream Cast Concert was actually held in '95 even though the video was released three years later.
petition to make this a top 20, way to many good, no great songs were excluded in this list *memory* *she used to be mine* *burn* *etc, even if they don’t really fit the mold.. they always made a rarely crier, cry.*

And I'm Telling ruins me every time. There's something about how the desperation and devastation of losing you job and your lover for almost a decade is written and performed in it that can be very hard to handle. I don't know if you've experienced such initial feeling surrounding a bad breakup but it feels so much like that song. Not believing it's true, trying to bargain with affection, begging, pleading, anger despair, all of it is in there and it's so rough.
I really wish “Here Alone” from Little Women was on this list. Marmie singing sadly about how much she misses her deployed husband is such a tearjerker! One of my favorite songs in the whole show!
Nothing is sadder than “I’d Give My Love for You” from Miss Saigon. The song is literally about a mother giving away her son for a chance of a brighter future.
Number One...yes, yes, a thousand times YES! I saw "Les Miz" for the first time in 1992 after first listening to the soundtrack for about eight months. That song makes me cry just _reading_ the lyrics. I've saw it six times before the 2012 movie came out and they we using the classic, minimalist sets. When they announced the 2012 movie, I was reluctant because I'm often disappointed when a stage musical becomes a film. Two things made me buy the ticket: The director saying that the movie was made for people who had seen the musical at least once, and the preview of Samantha Barks singing "On My Own." I bought my ticket for the first showing at the Burbank AMC Christmas morning. She did not disappoint and neither did the movie. Number One...absolutely.
This is a real oldie, but I'd mention "What Kind of Fool am I", from "Stop the World, I Want to Get Off". It's a real tear-jerrker with a beautiful melody and lyrics.
13:30 - “Loving You” is my own ultimate “sad love song.” Its made even sadder because its sung by a character who knows she is dying, and realizes the limits of her desires. OMG, Fosca is one of my favorite Broadway roles of all time, and Donna Murphy’s performance is absolutely heartbreaking.
The musical was written for the abba songs the song was not written for the musical that is my thought otherwise something like scenes from an italian restaurant from moving out would had also been on the list
A little fall of rain has me crying every time cause eponine delivering the letter for Cosette as the last thing she ever does, completely putting Marius' happiness in front of her own is beautifully tragic
"If I Can't Love Her" is the song that opened my eyes to Terrence Mann. I remember being 10 years old and watching Beauty and the Beast on Broadway for the first time, with the original cast. I was largely unfazed and unemotional about things that most people would get emotional over. I just wasn't a big crier at that age. Then Act 1 closed with this song, and immediately the tears started flowing (and kept right on flowing all through intermission). Those lyrics -- "No pain could be deeper, no life could be cheaper, no point anymore if I can't love her" and "If I can't love her, let the world be done with me" -- coupled with the brilliant way he sang them...it still gets me every time!
I love this list! It's perfect! #1 is so right! I love most of these songs, too! And it's so great seeing the hostess, and seeing her facial expressions with her voice!
"I don:t Know How to Love Him" is really marginal in this list. It's a wonderful classic song and it gives you a feeling for the hard life that Mary had. But, ultimately, it's a song of redemption and spiritual uplift. So it's really a sort of celebration as she leaves her old life behind and discovers true, spiritual love. I think that you're missing the whole point of this song.
Here’s some more to add, some which would boot others off this list. Broadway •Before the summer ends-Dracula •Alyssa Greene-the prom •Another life- bridges of Madison county •FALSETTOS ACT 2 Off-broadway •Meadowlark-the bakers wife •Kindergarten boyfriend-heathers •Most of the last five years •Come back-dogfight •He wanted a girl-giant But even with all this “I’ll cover you reprise” will always win. Always.
I also think that "So in Love" by Cole Porter from the musical Kiss me, Kate (performed by Rachel York) is one of the saddest Broadway Musical ballads. The lead actress, Lilli, sings the song while reminiscing about the love she has for her ex husband with whom she is co-starring in a run of Taming of the Shrew. The lyrics "So taunt me, and hurt me, deceive me, desert me. I'm yours till I die, so in love, so in love. So in love with you am I" gets me every time. It's part unrequited love, part lost love all rolled into a song. For me, Rachel York is embodies the bitter-sweetness of the song.

The raw emotion in the song no matter who sings it is so AHAHA I love it but I hate it.
So glad “Satisfied” was mentioned. Such a genius and creative song.
I’ll cover you (reprise) should be #1. No song has ever traumatized me so emotionally
Floo Wing god same. I immediately starting bawling when it came on
Floo Wing I start crying before the song even plays. It’s a literal stab to the heart.
just rip my heart out after that song, i don't need it anymore...
I ugly cry for that song. It is just that... they were so happy... so in love... so perfect for each other... and of all the couples in that musical, they were the one to be separated permanently.... I cannot forgive the writers of Rent for doing that.
Floo Wing I always cry when I listen to it
Video: she attended the ball with her sister, Angelica
Me: AND PEGGY!
💙
Yes but Peggy's not important
“On my Own” I can relate.... my ex is interested in someone else and I’m just the friend that still likes him....
Rebellover 1 ...my ex?
Fernando Medina Yeah he dumped me. So I can kinda of relate by having someone you love interested in someone else
That's literally my love life. I was dumped by my ex and now I'm pretty sure she likes her best friend but I still like her :/. (She's bi)
Brand aww me sorry:( I guess we have to find the right people.
i’ve been through this!! i know it’s hard but just know you will be okay, and eventually it’ll just be something that happened. i hope you both find happiness soon! 💓
I’m glad “If I Can’t Love Her” made it on the list, but what about “All I Ask of You(Reprise)” from “The Phantom of the Opera”?
Satisfied is incredibly sad. A shoutout to Burn for making me cry every single time I listen to it as well 😭
Also Best Of wives And Women because I got choked up just typing it
And Stay Alive reprise. Especially with the scream at the end
What more can I say feels like a gut punch because it shows how much Marvin grew and how much he loves whizzer and then something bad is happening is the song right after
“Till I Hear You Sing” from “Love Never Dies” always makes me cry.
Right? This musical gets a bad rep and is horribly underrated
That musical never was on Broadway
Ramin Karimloo's pure and raw emotion in that song.. Oh my. Definitely needed to be on the list in my opinion!
“The movie in my mind” should def be on this list
This and "I'd Give My Life for You"
I wouldn't class "Movie in my mind" as a love song, it's more of a lament of their shitty lives as prostitutes in Vietnam.
Maybe Miss Saigon will be number on someday... finally Les Misérables hit number one... kinda like Meryl Streep and an Oscar... lol
Les Miserables is the best musical EVER
Agreed.
YES.
YESSSSSS
Eh...it's very good, but it's largely overrated.
So agree👍so much heart and soul
When I saw Les Misérable on tour this year, I shed tears among tears during On My Own. It honestly hurt because it's so relatable. At the time I had a huge crush on this guy that didn't like me back. He knew I liked him and I even asked if he liked me back and he didn't give me a straight answer. I have since gotten over those feelings, but damn, that song still pulls at my heartstrings.
I'll Cover You (reprise) just shatters my soul everytime
'Without You' kills me everytime!!!!
I really love goodbye love, but the extended version (though I'm still mad they deleted the scene, it's so beautiful and important!!!) it kills me every time, I listened to it while my best friend died in my arms...
“Send in the Clowns” anyone? I bawl every time I hear it sung well.
OMG! YES!
the filled the honorable mentions with Sondheim, I think they could just to a top 10 with Sondheim, its kind of standard stock for him.
Danae Zevely yes!
Only when done by Glynis johns or Bernadette Peters
I cry my eyes out every time I hear it. It was my mom's favorite sondheim song. May she rest in peace
I gasped when I saw John Barrowman
Edit: I gasped even louder when Satisfied started
I love john barrowman
I love him so much. I have all his music.
DOCTOR WHO BABY
I squealed
I’m glad I’m not the only one!
Little fall of rain took my whole soul when I was 12. How’s that not here.
Who else gasped when they saw Jeremy Jordan? 😂😭😢🥳
Maggie Peterson meeeeee
No but I did when he started to sing

Are you unaware of Newsies? He plays the main character in that musical. :P

John C. Rielly gave a heartbreaking performance of 🎶Mr. Cellophane 🎶in the movie.😭😭😭
Mr cellophane should have been higher, it’s literally so depressing
Right!!! When I saw the movie, it tugged at my heart strings.
It's bad enough not to have that one person love you.
But to feel unloved and invisible to everyone... :(
It's my favorite song from Chicago
I had a crush on a guy during high school. He was really friendly with me and we actually hung out and everything after school, but I knew deep down I know he would never have the same feelings that I did for him so I would always cry when On My Own played on my phone.
"Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from Phantom and "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls.
It never fails, I always tear up hearing "I'll Cover You"
"On My Own" is the number one song about unrequited love
Dying ain’t so bad from Bonnie and Clyde. Bonnie realizes she is going to die and is ok with that because she found love
Man I always sing along to it. And You love who you love.
YES
Eponine is way too good for Marius... She deserved so much better 😭😭😭
Too right, he was a complete sap.
honestly the bit that gets me the most is his little "Christine i loooove yooou"
“If I Could Tell Her” is one my favs from Dear Evan Hansen. Gets me every time
That isn't even sad
Honestly while I love “on my own”, I think “I dreamed a dream” is far more poignant, especially from the perspective of Fontaine, who’s truly been reduced her lowest point possible at that point. It isn’t just hope for love she’s lost, it’s essentially her will to live. Both songs still make me cry though.
*Fantine.
lol The context of this list is UNREQUITED LOVE. I DREAM A DREAM (love this song) though contain parts or element tackling unrequited love its not the MAIN AGENDA of that song. While ON MY OWN's ENTIRETY is all. about UNREQUITED LOVE. How come u failed to comprehend that?
@@syvhne why are you capitalizing your letters like that? and also, the title of the video is "saddest love songs" not "unrequited love songs"...
“God Help the Outcasts” broadway recording is one of the saddest songs
Um... Hunchback is not a Broadway musical
i don't think this song give me "sad" feeling, rather showing how beautiful Esmeralda is inside, u feel pure, and love actually
Watching hunchback here in Seattle was amazing. Too bad Broadway didn’t pick it up. I loved the stage version much more than the 90s Disney movie
"A little fall of rain" in Les Mis will forever be the single saddest song ever written.
Sad yes - but not a love song.
@@thannon8569 empty chairs at empty tables..
@@adiagammanny812 Still not a love song. The best example from Les Miz is On My Own...
"On my own" has been my song for the last year... not an easy task to be in love with your best friend
I've been dealing with the repercussion of that for 3 years. Falling in love with, got rejected by, losing and missing your best friend is devastating. On my own is the soundtrack of my life.
Lea Salonga and Samantha Barks gave justice to On My Own 🔥
I would honestly give "On My Own" and "A Little Fall of Rain" a tie because they're almost like companion songs. Eponine's love is never reciprocated, so yes, she really is on her own, and she's going to stay that way...quite literally for the rest of her life.
unlikely lovers/what would i do from falsettos are the saddest love songs i can think of
Lexie L omg I was about to comment this
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING 😤
I sob every time I listen to what would I do
literally watched this video just to see if what would i do, unlikely lovers, or games i play was on the list.. disappointed that none were because those are without a doubt the saddest!!
What Would I Do is an instant cry for me.
"What would I do" from falsettos definitely deserves a spot!
And I Am Telling You, from Dreamgirls.
It made me cry in the theater. Stopped the show.
Man hearing Jennifer Holiday sing that song should make any man on the planet not ever want to break a woman's heart. The pain and anger that woman sings with you want to break character and say you know we are just acting right?
No "All I Ask of You (Reprise)? Or "Music of the Night"? Honestly Phantom should be on here for something.
I agree
Jack Shayne I literally lose it during the reprise of all I ask of you
@@RizwanJaganiViolist same, the little pat of the phantom at the end always hits me
Also Til I Hear You Sing from the Phantom sequel LND!!
yeah but Music of the Night isn't a sad love song it's a really good song but it's not a sad love song.
Who was too busy singing along to 'satisfied' that you weren't listening to the explanation about why it's on the list 🤣
Exactly what I’m doing right now
It is I love him but my sisters happiness is more to me than anything so I will stand to the side and long for him as long as she is happy with him
I've not got there yet but I probably will 😂😂
pixiedust429 me and for “on my own” I wasn’t even listening to her 😂😂
I can do the rap
Lea Salonga in Miss Saigon.
Yeah it's not 1998
petition to make this a top 20, way to many good, no great songs were excluded in this list
*memory*
*she used to be mine*
*burn*
*etc, even if they don’t really fit the mold.. they always made a rarely crier, cry.*
"I'll cover you" just sort of breaks me, every time.
During the entire "Mr. Cellophane" proportion I was waiting for Chris Colfer to appear on that screen.
But he never did.
Same
Honestly same
Same me too
Haha forever Gleek
I’m so sad that Falsettos is no where on this list 😭😭😭😭
What would i do makes me cry every time!
I know I can't believe it to. I cry even when I hear the first couple of notes from What Would I do.
Literally the entire second half of the musical would be this
I KNOW RIGHT I DONT WANT TO BUT I HAVE TO SAY I HATE IT.. IT DOES 👏 NOT 👏 MAKE 👏 SENSE 😭😭
Exactly what i was thinking!!! why is "What would i do" not in here!!!
Little Fall Of Rain is more of a tear jerker than On My Own.
where is she used to be mine from waitress? I have never once listened to that song without bawling
CJ Lockwood i think it is not a love song, if i am right. But it is beautiful nonetheless.
Somewhere is the saddest song: change my mind. PERIOD
3. A song about a lover who lost their life
2. A song about how two people’s ethnicity’s are different and keeping them apart in the worst way
1. He doesn’t like me back
Tbh i think number 1 should be a little fall of rain. You know... literally take a bullet for someone you love
I'm ashamed of myself for laughing so hard at this.
i usually watch youtube before bed...as i'm doing now....but this video has made me go over my cry quotient for the day. 10 crys in one video.....i can't take it.
I think “I still believe” from Miss Saigon should have been #3 but it wasn’t on this list :( I definitely agree with 1 and 2 though
Why God Why kills me, even though Chris is an entitled asshole.
Totally agree! In fact, Miss Saigon is one bawl fest after another.
Forever Eva I was just about to mention “I still believe “
'Now that I've seen her' is sad also!!!
Where is ‘Memory’? An oldie I know, but it still makes me feel emotional to this day when I hear it.
Samantha Barks version of "On my Own" is the one that gets me more than any other.
"Somewhere"....classic, heart breakingly beautiful. Should perhaps be number one.
Somehow “All I Ask Of You Reprise” didn’t make it in the top 10?
Drew Brown it should have been an honorable mention at least.
Is Not sad
m h lol read the lyrics and think from the Phantom’s point of view and tell me if that’s sad or not
The Phantom doesn t sing t. It' s a duet between Raoul auf Christine. They promised their love to one another. So rather glad than sad.
@@mh-jg4tv the reprise refer to what the phantom said after that. Not the part that Christine and Raoul sung.
"I gave you my music, make your song take wings
And now how you've repaid me
Denied me and betrayed me
He was bound to love you
When he heard you sing.. Christine."
"Tell Me on a Sunday Please" - Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Song and Dance. Also "Not a Day Goes By"- Sondheims "Merrily We Roll Along"
“Stay with me” from into the woods should be on this list.
As soon as I hear the intro to “If I can’t love her” I can’t help but start to tear up 😢
I really wish “Here Alone” from Little Women was on this list. Marmie singing sadly about how much she misses her deployed husband is such a tearjerker! One of my favorite songs in the whole show!
I wish My Man from Funny Girl would have got an honorable mention.
Oh my gosh yes
My Man isn't a Broadway song. During that spot in the stage musical she sings The Music That Makes Me Dance.
The music that makes me dance, but basically, only done by early streisand. They say she never gave the performance that is on the obc album.
Nothing is sadder than “I’d Give My Love for You” from Miss Saigon. The song is literally about a mother giving away her son for a chance of a brighter future.
I don't know if this counts, but How Could I Ever Know from The Secret Garden is really sad and its such a pretty song as well.
When He Sees Me from waitress is so relatable and it breaks my heart !! Also the entirety of miss saigon deserves it's own spot on this list tbh
had goosebumps all over when lea salonga's version of "on my own" came on
🎵I love him....I love him.....but only on my own.....🎵
That's *the* line.
I know Donna has extensively done Broadway; however I only know her as Mother Gothel. I love her voice.
Glad to see “There’s a Fine, Fine Line” on here. It’s such a great song and feel like it gets overlooked in favor of the humorous songs from the show.
I’m surprised “The winner takes it all” from Mamma Mia didn’t place
Maybe they didn't consider it because it wasn't written for a musical.
@@Amm1ttai Considering that song was released more than 20 years before they even thought of having it in a musical, I'd have to agree.
The musical was written for the abba songs the song was not written for the musical that is my thought otherwise something like scenes from an italian restaurant from moving out would had also been on the list
What is saddest about some of the ABBA’s written at the time is they reflected what was happening with both couples.
A little fall of rain has me crying every time cause eponine delivering the letter for Cosette as the last thing she ever does, completely putting Marius' happiness in front of her own is beautifully tragic
ok but "i'll cover you (repise)" makes me bawl like a baby everytime i hear it.
"AIDS and poverty have made things difficult for them"
Wow.
Broadway
•Before the summer ends-Dracula
•Alyssa Greene-the prom
•Another life- bridges of Madison county
•FALSETTOS ACT 2
Off-broadway
•Meadowlark-the bakers wife
•Kindergarten boyfriend-heathers
•Most of the last five years
•Come back-dogfight
•He wanted a girl-giant
But even with all this “I’ll cover you reprise” will always win. Always.
HOW is "Send in the Clowns" not on this list? The first time I heard this song, I BAWLED. It's a Broadway standard.
AGREE---
So many tearjerkers out there, and Satisfied makes the list...Total miss here. Still hurting and she used to be mine should totes be on here.
Also, Someone else's story from chess
what about "being alive" from company??? it's not technically directed at anyone in particular but it's definitely a love song
