I just heard them yesterday while searching around and it was instant love. They have this nice nostalgic sound to them that reminds me when music was more than about money. If they do get big I think this would be a band that wouldn't change (too much) I think they know what being big can do to people. Still love them and gotta find/buy CDs.
Saw them in Montreal last week at Progressive Nation Tour. They are a damn good band. Their show rocks!!! Got my Hex album signed, they are really nice people...I'm definitely a fan now!!!
I discovered these guys recently, when I heard they were supporting Dream Theater in London, and Porc Tree in the US. They're pretty awesome! They sound like a Black Sabbath/ King Crimson hybrid, which is a pretty great feat! I've been converted!
Saw these guys on prog nation tour in orlando. Absolutely awesome. Had never heard of them and was only really there for Dream Theater but they blew me away!
These dudes are retro!!! And great!! I love the keyboards. This is the was R&R sounded before it strayed from the truth. I hear Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and The Beatles. Some of my all time favorite bands. But Bigelf is very original too and write some great tunes. Love it.
Same here. I listened some songs from TH-cam after the gig. Man I wish I would have done so before the concert! I really like these guys now. But it was hard(er) to listen to Bigelf when I didn't know any songs. =( But I'm a fan now and I hope to see them again. I guess it's not a problem for them to come to Finland since the bassist and guitarist are from Finland! :P
awesome....for me they were the highlight of the night on Progressive Nation's leg on Portugal..other than DT of course :) since i saw them live I loaded my iPod with their music...bigelf is awesome
saw them yesterday, had'nt heard of them before, they were AMAZING, best band of the evening (besides Dream Theatre of course), a fantastic live experience
Wow, I just looked up this band to have an idea of what they sound like, as i'm seeing them on the prog nation tour next week, i'm very pleasantly surprised :D
Gosh, I love Mellotron sound and I search bands using Mellotrons (especially modern bands - but also classic from 70's of course). I haven't listened to Bigelf previously, it's my first contact with their music and I think I'd like them.
Ok I saw them last night at progressive nation and they were freakin' awesome! We talked for a while and they were very nice friendly. Good people great music! Cheers! ;)
can't wait. Seeing the tour in just a couple of weeks!! This'll be my first time seeing Dream Theater and ZPZ live. Never even heard of Bigelf before, so I'm excited to see what they got :]
Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing Opeth again in Europe, but Pain of Salvation would have been awesome as well. Oh, and Big Elf intrigue me too. It should be an incredible tour of music.
Yeah to all you guys going to Prog nation who have not seen ZPZ, I saw them last fall. Un-freaking-believable. It was absolutely amazing, I was stunned. I don't understand the haters at all. They're the only reason I bought Prog Nation tickets.
Because of the heavy Mellotron use I also hear some King Crimson in there too. I love Mellotron and Hammond B3 which you don't hear a whole lot nowadays. To our misfortune.
I just saw them in Baltimore. Twas a fantastic show. Easily better than Queensryche who was also there. One thing i was wondering though is whats the deal with the yoda thing on his organ?
In case you haven't heard the news yet, PoS and Beardfish have had to pull out of the American PN tour. Bigelf and Scale The Summit are the replacements
The Boston show was amazing! These guys were amazing! aught my attention. They were out in left field, but Zappa was out of the park. I loved it. First time seeing Dream Theater. My buddy and I say the lead singer(forget his name) before he went to the table to sign stuf we asked what his influences wereand he was like "all good stuff"what a band. They all were very cool. We craked a couple of jokes. DT was amazing. I didnt like StS though. But Everything else was perfeect.
Yeah, I just saw them tonight in Orlando, it was very good. I must say they sound A LOT better live though. The bassist is amazing live and the vocalist doing the keyboards and so on is VERY good too.
@peter0250 agreed. sometimes bands that get big start to change their sound. now i'm not saying that WOULD happen. but were certainly safe like this ;)
Classic rock vocals with progressive elements in the music... I like it. A lot.

I owe Big Elf a cigarette! Maybe even a beer, too... I missed their gig due to an appointment and was wandering home drunk when I spotted their bus.

@luke200202 : They're from Los Angeles, if I recall correctly.
So, when are they coming to take me away?
They're like the love-child of Jack White and System of a Down.

More like if Black Sabbath, ELO and Pink Floyd had a baby

I saw Big Elf open for total unkowns backwoods paypackin West Chester, PA, with eight other people in 2003!!!
They are not huge, but they occupy this special ecologic niche in the rock forest. I am glad, that I have found them.

This song reminds me a bit of 'Doctor Doctor' by UFO, but heavier. This can only be a good thing :D
