    Polygon brand is making bikes for Marin and GT. Some says for Vitus as well.
    Here in Malaysia, when Polygon releases bikes, you will see new Marins at the same time at the same bike shop.

    I've had mine for several months and really like it. I've upgraded nearly everything but I ride pretty hard, lots of downhill tech. I recommend these to everyone. Great value. Yes Marlin bikes are made by Polygon. Also, wheels and tires are heavy. Jack from Custom Wheel Builder made me some nice Stans Flow EX3 with dt hubs. Saved 3 pounds when paired with dhr 2.

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you got a great build. Stock this bike is really good for the $. I've upgraded a few parts as well and lost 3lbs which really helped on the climbs. Such a sleeper bike right now. Thanks for sharing

    Need opinions - I'm looking at 2 used Poly's ....Medium D7 & Large T7.....I ride with my 8yr old son in NJ/PA. We hit trails, some rocks, roots, and looking to do some downhill this summer. The T7 is only $400 more....should I go for it? Would this bike be happy on easy (green) trails as well as intermediate (blue) trails? Will the T7 also be ok for tooling around the neighborhood when needed?
    Also - I'm 5'10" / 30" inseem - Poly says I should ride a large...do these bikes run big or small?

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are planning to do some downhill then the T7 would be the better choice. The D series is more XC and the T series trail category. The extra travel of the T7 will be more comfortable and I find it to climb well.
      At 5'11.5" on a large I think the fit is in line with other trail bikes. Feels more compact but comfortable so I would follow Polygon's recommendation. T7 is a fun bike and worthy of upgrades as you go.

    That’s what I’m riding. I got mine last year at $1799. Been really enjoying it. I have been upgrading things as I go. Only real complaint as you mentioned is they are heavy. For the type of riding I do I don’t notice the weight on the trail. If you are a clock watcher you will notice the weight. For an affordable bike you have to sacrifice something tho

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree it's heavy but didn't feel too cumbersome on the climbs. For the price I don't think it's that big of a deal as it rides well

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had similar issues. Factory tubeless tape was installed improperly so tape was wrinkled and leaked. I retaped both and had no issue.

      @jordancusack5027 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StraightLine_MTB Polygon has agreed to replace my front wheel as the seam leak is above the tapes reach and structurally unsafe to ride according to Bikes Online. The rear is fine and had no issues beyond it took a couple days to seal the beads with the stans sealant.

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Siskiu looks like a better build kit than the Vander. The Siskiu also looks to have a more polished presentation with the internal cable routing and paint schemes. Your budget will dictate for you but for a bike you want to grow with and possibly upgrade, the Vader is a non-boost frame which would limit wheel choices. Siskiu T7 would be a great bike to ride as is or replace parts as you go.

    Yo my brother , I’m 5’10 and riding a large Mmmbop on a 160mm Lyrik
    But I want a fuck around full sus for long rides
    I’m looking at the poly 27.5 medium or large 29er
    What you think ?

    And it feels a hair big

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey yo. I am 5'11.5" riding a large and feel it is playful and easy to maneuver. I definitely wouldn't want to size down to a Medium. Polygon has you on a Large at your height and think that might be a wise choice if your looking to get some comfort and relative stability for any chunky stuff. It is a great bike for the price. Don't forget to go though our link in the description if you do decide to buy.

    • @Gurutattoowpb
      @Gurutattoowpb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StraightLine_MTB I wonder why they did that on one of their more expensive bikes but upgraded the cheaper ones.
      I purchased one earlier today then realized after I made the payment it looked identical to the 2021. I'm disappointed if it's just the same bike from 2021. Means it's a whole year older and it's misleading to say it's a 2022

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Gurutattoowpb Some bike companies don't do model year changes. So it isn't necessarily odd that the same bike is offered for a couple years. Could also be do to the current climate of parts availability to not be able to do a refresh.

    • @Gurutattoowpb
      @Gurutattoowpb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StraightLine_MTB polygon appears to be a company that does change every year. It just sucks to buy the same bike in 2022 as in 2021 for the same price when they discount the bike from the previous year. Not to mention going to resell the bike in the future, since the color scheme is exactly the same it's hard to tell what year it's from. I guess it could bring up the value of 2021's lol
