  • This is raw unedited footage of a Vermeer BC700xl chipping. The purpose of this video is to answer questions some people might have about this unit by watching it perform. Any questions feel free to comment below.
Yes it will chip up to 6 inches
Yes you will have to cut most branch unions
    Yes it is slow
Yes it was a pain in the ass at times
Yes it WILL get the job done
I rented this chipper, so it has really dull blades.. I mean REALLY dull. It wasn't even making chips but just long strands of wood. But even so, this chipped fairly well. I would love to see it with nice sharp knives. It chipped 16 oak trees, and it chipped any thing I could fit into the mouth of it. Yes it was really slow in comparison to diesel chippers, and I had to pre-cut almost every branch union. But if you're small, and don't have much money like me, this little chipper will get you there.

My project a little larger. Some huge old very sappy pine tree 3-6" limbs have been a pain! Hopefully better technique & more patience from viewing your video will make tomorrow a lot better and my helper, a novice, will be able to take over after watching me for an hour or so. His chainsaw skills are fair 🙄 I'm very production oriented when renting and there's Lots of work to Get Done
Upon seeing how sLow from your video tho still productive, I should have rented much bigger chipper --85 hp diesel-- to easily & quickly eat my near endless large tree limbs and then more slowly munch limbless trunks up to 12" for trees not used for firewood. I have tractor with grapple for loading trunks if needed. I need to watch that chipper in action before renting!
With limbs 3 or less inch I sometimes cheat and use my bush hog if I can afford to leave it a little messy like in a fairly wooded non grass / landscaped area

The 12 inch diesel is night and day better! but it hurts your wallet lol.

I noticed $$ but my smaller rental chipper needs repair work and need to chip/remove many large logs up to 12 inch will help hopefully enough. Unfortunately, I don't like burning
