We owned a commercial landscaping company through the 70's, 80's, and sold it in the 90's. One time we were approached by the city who offered to sell us their large wood chipped for super cheap. We said we would take a look at it and did. What we saw was a nearly brand new piece of machinery, impressive in size, not a scratch on it. We asked them why they were selling it and why so cheap? They all looked down at the ground for a moment until one of them spoke up, he said, "well, one of our guys got hooked and went all the way through." My dad had both a look of knowing and sadness on his face like he expected the guy to say exactly what he did. We thanked them for their time and shared condolences and went on our way. To this day every time I see one in action I look away and think about how many men those things have eaten. They're a great tool and much needed but I don't care to ever use one or be around one myself.

Had some rather large trees removed not long ago, and they brought along a large chipper. A skid steer fed in a 10’ x 24” diameter section of tree like the one in the video. I thought no way it could handle it. It chewed through the whole thing. I was amazed. I guess they’ve come a long way in developing the power and ability.

None of these were even close to the one I’ve seen in Maine. It was operated by Diamond International and had a 20’ diameter chip wheel with a 1200 HP electric motor. It chipped whole logs continuously at a rate of about 5-10 seconds or less. It never even slowed down. To this day I’ve never seen one larger. That was in the late 70’s. My job was traveling the country and doing equipment appraisals for an insurance organization. That thing was a beast. When they’d start it up, it took awhile to get up to speed and would dim the lights in the town.

If you have wood scraps, you can try the wood chip machine, cut the wood into 3-5cm wide, 5mm thick wood chips, these wood chips can be used for burning, as well as power generation, energy saving and environmental protection. If you're interested, please contact me.
I can send you detailed product catalog or video pictures

I'm a little disappointed that video of Joey Chestnut destroying Nathan's hotdogs didn't make the cut here. Hey @Skashoon, I think I saw something similar in action here in Maine last Summer along route 1 near Bath, they were feeding in about 20" diameter oak trees like nothing but it was running on diesel probably

688 at 8:39. Either needs to be sharpened or it’s drastically under powered, not to mention all the dirt the operator is tossing into it doesn’t help. Cleaner the product the more money you’ll receive per load. Thanks for the video. * 3-3-2024

Efficient and impressive. I just wish I had acreage, a good sawmill and some storage. There's some good wood being wasted.
