Okai is actually an OEM manufacturer for all the Lyft and other scooter sharing ride apps back when those were popular. As they got more regulated and less common, Okai shifted to making consumer products like the Neon and the Beetle but the reason for the conservative max speed is precisely because of their experience building to spec for rides hare apps and the government restrictions they had to work with The good news to me is that Okai scooters are built by a team that had to work around all the demands for rides sharing apps that leave scooters ok the streets for days, expect to experience crashes and accidents and generally need little maintenance so I'm confident these scooters will be reasonably reliable
why would you still recommend a scooter where the locking latch doesnt stay locked in? this is a big no no for me and i would hope for everyones elses safety is a big no no for them too.
It never happened under normal use. It only happened when I was power jumping the scooter. When it does fail it doesn't open the latch up to cause failure. The latch has to be pressed down with force in order for it to fail. I definitely think they need to improve it. However, a simple velcro strap would fix it easily.
I just got my hands on a Niu KQi3 Pro and so far I’m liking everything, granted it’s freezing cold in New England right now. Price is around the same but much heavier and sturdier build compared to this unit.
The NIU KQi3 is pretty solid. My complaints are that it’s a bit heavy and underpowered for hills considering that it has a 48v system. I have a WideWheel dual that weighs the same. I also have a Segway-Ninebot es3 that has nearly the same power and top speed though it’s only 36v. Other than that, it is very pleasant to ride. I’d recommend to anyone looking for a beginner electric scooter.

seems like most of the scooter have app issues or even connecting to the app. I just had a brand new ninebot and it was dead, because the Bluetooth did not work so you could not activate it. Probably same cheap factory in China that does the blue tooth chip :(
As nice as this scooter looks, I feel like it's poor decision on their product team. Scooters under $1,000 should foremost have power and/or range. It just doesn't make sense to pay that much money for something that tops out at 15mph and has like 20 miles of range.
I got this scooter, but now I’m hearing some annoying rattling in the handlebar near the throttle. Did your Neon scooter do that when riding it? Let me know cuz I’m ready to return it if it’s not a normal thing.
Just picked one up and I'm having issues with the latch. Even fully locked in, I've had the stem collapse down several times. Fortunately, I wasn't going very fast and didn't wipe out. I tried tightening the bolts at the side of the latch but it doesn't seem to do anything. Maybe I just got a dud.
I had this problem too. I had to get rid of the white paint at the bottom of the stem. I exposed the bare metal. With all the thick paint you could see there was a gap and some play when the bar was up. Perfect contact between the two parts is necessary for the locking mechanism to be correctly wedged in.
Also, been thinking of getting a one wheel. Which one do you recommend I should get? Speed dosnt amtter but I'd kinda like it to already go around 8 miles per charge if possible.
