You two are so cute together! I kinda felt like I was intruding on a romantic date night! Love seeing you enjoy your travels despite the bitter cold - am appreciating the architecture too enhanced by your skilful camerawork and editing.
I don'y know what kind of base layers you guys got but I can not recommend enough 100% Merino wool. It is amazing. It never smells bad!!! As a Canadian who is going to be at -20C tomorrow I can attest to it's worth!! Happy Travels
The church you were standing next to with the blown out windows is Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, it was destroyed during the war and left as a reminder. It's nice to be able to google map locations which are interesting, I pinned the fish and chips place in NZ that your Brother in Law picked. But it took me a while to find it and rewind the video multiple times to get the name or close enough to find. It would be great to see text on your videos indicating location or names where you are, neighborhoods, restaurants etc... Absolutely love Tia's post card art, beautiful. Thank you
Thank you! I thought that was that church. Quite moving to see how it was left untouched after the war as a memorial, especially to see the bullet marks and the broken window.
I remember the first time I landed in Canada and the custom lady asked me what my plans were, “I said just walk around”. I was concerned that they weren’t going to let me in with that response and she looked at me like I was a bit unwell. Walking is free and getting lost can be so interesting, only place l got concerned doing that was Mexico City cause I was truly truly lost but finely found my way back. Germany is such a wonderful place to travel in ❤
Totally relate to much of this , just back home in Australia yesterday after a month in Switzerland, Germany and France . Berlin looks so quiet , I was in Munich the last week of Dec and it was hectic as, I couldn't wait to leave 😂. Sausage , schnitzel and the other thing we ate was Spateleze ( German version of Mac and Cheese) .
Ha ha Classic. loved the look on Tias face in the restaurant when you mentioned the spoon saga. I enjoy watching all your videos. Life is all about creating good memories.
Tia, it isn't stealing, if you are relocating a fond memory souvenirs. I have a draw full of them. It is the little things that bring a smile. Find those gloves, please. Loving Germany. Stay safe.
The way Cheveyo's eyes lit up when he asked if people from Hamburg were called Hamburgers 🤣 Highlight of the video. Tia don't feel bad about the spoons, i have a collection of miscellaneous spoons from family/old workplaces etc and I do have favourites! 😂
So enjoying you two! So cute and sweet! You both are so lucky to be traveling while you’re young. We are trying to catch up😄. Seriously, we are just enjoying what travel we get to do. Copenhagen this spring/summer. Amsterdam through to Germany. France in the fall. Enjoy your journey! And keep sharing.
Awesome way to start the year! Those pocket 3 follow and hyperlapse shots were money. Cool to see you guys adding the pocket 3 to your toolkit. I love the content and the cinematography. You guys are huge influence on my channel. Thank you for what you do and I hope this year is prosperous and wonderful for you both.
OMG you guys… we did the same thing with a door knocker in Langkawi years ago! We saw this random knocker in a little market and it now hangs on our front door - sooo many people ask us where we got it from! Love your videos, and wishing you both a happy new year 😊💫
I have been in a very anxious place recently and watching this made me so happy, you are both so beautiful and such a special couple. I seriously need to harness both of your energies, thanks for sharing :)
I'm loving where you are going this time, Love Berlin and Scandinavia!! Try and get as far north as possible for the aurora borealis. I have seen the Midnight Sun many years ago, but can't wait to go back for winter! love from Australia where its way too hot. (hate the heat).
Nothing wrong with doing tourist things or eating at tourist places sometimes. You are tourist after all. Enjoy your travels and time together. I for sure enjoy watching your adventures.
Visited that same Christmas market when I was there in 2007/2008. I'm pretty sure from memory that the church you were next to with the missing window was bombed in WW2, and still missing part of the roof. The building was never restored, there was a reason behind it IIRC. Was interesting to see.
Nice to see you eating well ! No more servo sandwiches & Aldi dolmades . The food looks wholesome just what you need in the freezing cold. Dessert looked so yummy !!I I spent much of my childhood in Germany brings back happy memories playing in the snow.. Not much to see in winter here in Perth but ATM it's summer and the ocean is a beautiful blue and not a cloud in the sky.
I'm in Australia. I have not been to Germany for MANY years .... what your video is showing me is the MASSIVE use of English in advertising/signage. Very different to my era there.
It's a nippy video yet it warms my heart in such lovely and delightful way by seein how clean and sharp Berlin is and the smiles from dynamic duo just completes the amazing winter wonderland experience 😅
Hello, I am currently in Brisbane where it is sooooo hot and humid and I am slightly envious of the cold you are experiencing, well, not really, but great to see you both again. When are you coming back to OZ?
@@Loupdelou-ly1ve I'm in Melbourne and its typical "4 seasons in 1 day" summertime here. Tia and Chevayo you must get gloves or mittens before you lose a finger. It looks lovely with the snow falling. Travel safe.
Hi Tia & Cheveyo, thanks for the vid of Berlin. I can't say I'm a big fan of super cold weather either but as you mentioned it is a different experience for you both. I look forward to more of your travels in Germany. Take care and travel safe ❤
Lots of coverage on X about the farmers blockading the road, have you seen any of that at all? Love your happiness, thank you for sharing date night with us, love and light from Perth, Western Australia. Safe travels.
Budget tip: bakeries make a great breakfast option. And supermarket bakeries are even cheaper! You'll definitely need to go budget when you go north. Norway is significantly more expensive than Sweden Denmark and Finland, but none of them are cheap.
Last few videos of you guys I watched from where I live in Kuala Lumpur, couldn’t imagine the cold of Europe in winter. Now I watch this one from my hotelroom on a businesstrip in Tokyo and it is cold here too! Totally different dimension!😂 enjoy!
Still's kinda weird to watching you wander alongside platforms eight and nine at Frankfurt Central Station, my hometown - basically, I'm right there on an almost daily routine (however - not as early you, though). I'll have to light a candle there on Saturday before my planned trip to Stuttgart, scheduled to depart from platform nine..... ❤❤ German winters may turn out NASTY - especially in Berlin....welcome to the club!
Make sure if you end up in Copenhagen that you go to Tivoli. Its a super old style amusement park in the middle of Copenhagen (right off the main square) which is like a fairytale at night
A lot of glühwein is a requirement when traveling in Europe during the winter! (I love it.) And you will eventually get used to the cold, it just takes time and the RIGHT CLOTHES. I can't believe you went this long without even having gloves!🤭
Thank you for the nice vlog about our capital :) You should probably take a detour to the beautiful baroque city of Dresden. It’s such a beautiful city and such an unusual architectural style for Germany. Nearby is the charming town of Meissen and the Elbe Sandstone Highlands. Really recommend a trip to the highlands, it’s perfect for a hike ☺️
2:10... Late? Seems normal. 5:00... 😮 What hotel??? And how much??? 9:55... WWII 29:25... I had to use my aussie credit card so that my desperate sister could use a dunny in Berlin on a visit last year. That one surprisingly didn't take cash. The most convenient toilets to use are the ones in department stores. (Normally on the top floor) You still have to pay, but anyone can use them. 22:30... Fighting tools in the wrong hands, but at least the meat patty isn't being all cut up first, before being shovelled in. 😉 I'm looking forward for my trip back to visit my sister (and Berlin) in 6 months.
The English saying “ Spending a penny” is a term used to go to the toilet. It was from the times when public toilets had an attendant who kept the place clean. I do not remember ever it actually costing a penny, ( I am 80) but I do remember it costing threepence with an attendant standing by. 😊
Don't feel bad about the spoon thing as for my 30th I had a big group of mates that we went to the Löwenbräu restaurant in the Rocks in Sydney. One of my mates took a Stein glass and gave it to me. 😜 That was a good night out and ended it with some of us skinny dipping at 3am at Bondi beach. 😂
I have to agree with you about the trains. The last train I booked from Berlin got cancelled and I was told to just get the next one 2 hours later. I sat in the seat that I had booked on the 1st train and spent the whole trip to Amsterdam hoping that nobody would board and tell me I was sitting in their seat.
People are out in numbers during winter because the winters in Germany are so long and the daylight hours are so short, and the days are grey, especially in Berlin. (Unlike Australia's short winters) you can't wait the winter out for that duration of time!
Berlin holds a special place for me in my heart. My Dutch husband and I travelled there from Netherlands, so he could obtain his prospective marriage visa to move to Australia with me. We were an online romance and met 3 times times before getting engaged and married in 2007.
Gday mateys. Just a tip - you'll be much warmer if you put a beanie on your head. So much body heat is lost from the top of your heads. BTW my favourite place in the world is Germany and Austria. Slovenia and the coast from Trieste right down to Albania (with a detour to the Plitvice Lakes NP and Mostar) is something to put on your bucket list. Probably beyond the budget now, a car means you'll see all the interesting things outside the cities. But one day...
loved the sponaneous reference to hamburg. brilliant minds are at work here. from google, men from hamburg are referred to as hamburger, women are hambergerin.
Tia looked so cute trying to justify that desert 🤣Little disappointed she got a beanie not a beret, I bet a beret, I know your in Germany not France but I bet a beret would look cute on Tia.
Pockets are as good as gloves if you use them. But having to film does make that difficult. Hats are very useful in winter though. Depending where you're from in the US, northern Europe may be cold or not so cold. Chicago I hear is much colder than a lot of Europe. Cold and windy at the same time. PS. Traditional german food not wurst - sauerkraut. :D Apfelstrudel is also a desert option.
Living in MZ, I can't even fathom having to pay to use the loo - when you need to go, you need to go (Te Anau is the only place I've had to pay, and I was so angry about it, lol!)! I'd definitely get caught out with no coins 😂

There is something so special about you two. Thankyou for being you ❤️ (Also Tia your smile is so beautiful omg ☺️)
Yes, they're really likeable.
I haven't seen Tia so happy scene the last time she had ice cream
Tia's enthusiasm and joy at STUFF just makes me grin with happiness to witness it. You are such a lucky man, Cheveyo.
You two are so cute together!
I kinda felt like I was intruding on a romantic date night!
Love seeing you enjoy your travels despite the bitter cold - am appreciating the architecture too enhanced by your skilful camerawork and editing.
Good colour choice for Tia's beanie. Suits her more than the dark one.
Tia, good for you girl! Every true traveller ALWAYS checks all the drawers in a new accommodation! :)
Possibly the second nicest thing about your channel is that it's as much a food vlog as a travelog 🙃
Well.. food is obviously a part of travel 😋
"Are people from Hamburg called Hamburgers" best line of the vlog😂😂😂😂
.... And if they are crooks are they called Hamburglers? 😂
I don'y know what kind of base layers you guys got but I can not recommend enough 100% Merino wool. It is amazing. It never smells bad!!!

So glad you have boots and not sandals lol

We are also walking in the opposite direction 😂😂😂 luv it
Tia was so smooth slipping that in mid convo, I snorted 😂😂
Tia, it isn't stealing, if you are relocating a fond memory souvenirs. I have a draw full of them. It is the little things that bring a smile. Find those gloves, please. Loving Germany. Stay safe.
I was in Berlin in October 2022, its so nice seeing again, though it wasn't as cold when i visited 😊
The way Cheveyo's eyes lit up when he asked if people from Hamburg were called Hamburgers 🤣 Highlight of the video.

Good eye! The Pocket 3 is a great little camera for that type of shot. Also helps immensely in situations where anxiety might come into play 😅

As a German I have to say: The meal looked great. I would eat it, too.

I'm currently in Vegas for CES (from Australia) and I can empathise with Tia and the smoking. It amazes me that smoking inside is legal in casinos!
That's because the more they smoke and relax......the more money they lose....
@23:36 "I've recovered." 😂😂🤣
23:00 yes 😂 but in german there is no "s" at the end 😉
Glad you enjoy yourself Guys
Cheveyo: Tia steals spoons from restaurants
Tia: No… Not anymore… I graduated
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 She truly is one of a kind!! 🥰😂😂
So much yummy food!! I love the idea of chilli & curry sprinkled over the tomato sauce! Yum! Thank you! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute!
Thanks again for the video 😊 we loved Berlin. My wife Alison was in seventh heaven with all the shoe shops 😁
Are you doing more of Berlin? There's so many more interesting areas than what you saw! 😂 I guess it's easy saying coz I live here 😂

I lived in West Berlin when the wall came down, exciting times. What I miss most, the Doner Kebabs!!
Ah, the markets at June 17 Strasse. Used to visit most weekends when I was stationed there. Great city, been back a few times.
Oh yeah - me too! It felt about 35 deg in Brisbane at 8am this morning! The rain is just making it worse.

On our walk home we passed a convoy of tractors protesting! We haven’t seen any blocked roads, though.
Welcome to Berlin!
Definitely invest in some serious clothing for Scandinavia. It is so cold up north, like Canada.

It'll be nice if could tell or show us whenever you buy food how much they cost. Like how much did that meal cost at the restaurant.
There was a pop-up on the screen for the food 😊 It was $52.

Are people from Hamburg hamburgers, hehe😊 safe travels. ❤
The uncomfortable with the word moist is universal haha
Haha, pls pls pls do not get me wrong but tia you look exactly like my aunty full on staunch proud maori lady, you would pass as a native of nz❤
I like how you're eating ice cream in thks weather 😂
