    I had a friend in elementary school who’s dad owned one. He was a dentist and made decent coin, was also a Mopar nut with several Challengers, RoadRunners and Chargers. He purchased his PT brand new and immediately sent it out to get modded.
    He dropped it 4” all around, installed a dual exhaust and turbo kit and colour matched the bumpers with side skirts as well.
    Stock I believe it made 122HP or something like that.. after the turbo mod and exhaust the car literally doubled in HP. It sounded awesome at idle but at highway speeds the drone inside was ridiculous. I couldn’t hear anything when riding in the backseat. Genuinely loved that car at the time, it moved out for sure.

    I had an 03 GT autostick. I'm still kicking myself for selling it. I've been buying the PT's for years, but they're definitely getting harder to find. It's also nice to see/find a video in my home state where they don't just crap all over the PTs. Currently working on a Hot Wheels version being built out of a non-turbo 05 PT Convertible.

    I traded an 87 grand prix that I bought for 450 dollars for a 2004 Limited turbo. He thought it had blown the head gasket. It had a coolant hose leak. I fixed the car for 5 bucks. It's a lot more fun than I expected. It needs clearcoat fixed and the sunroof track isn't right, but it's a great little p.o.s car. I enjoy this way more than I expected. All leather and comfortable as hell.

      Wow that's an awesome deal! My dad has a similar story about buying I believe a Plymouth ages ago that the guy sold cheap because it didn't run. My dad found out someone had bolted the spare tire down and accidentally crimped a fuel line. He unbolted the spare tire and drove the car away. The guy was mad, but my dad had already bought the car. I would have just laughed and said you're smarter than me! Sorry for the delayed reply. Glad you are enjoying the PT GT life!

    I have always liked the look of the old gassers so naturally I put the biggest tires I could fit on the back of my PT CRUISER WITH A LITTLE modifying of the inner wheel well the 255/65R/16 tires fit. That put the front end down very low I drove it 216 k miles like that.I noticed the other week that my struts were getting to be crispy rust so I went to the junk yard and found a set of good after market blue metallic ones and put them on I love it they raised the front about 2" now it looks more like a old gasser.

    I love everything about PT’s, they are my favourite “modern” car and my black on black ‘03 GT is the newest car I currently own. 245ft lbs @ 2000RPM’s actually and easily upgradeable to about 600HP (I’ve heard of some making 800 but that’s just nuts) These cars would shock you in the corners too, most people think they handle poorly, but they were actually one of the best performers of their time and are still superior for grip then many current FWD cars. Anyways great video Aaron, I thoroughly enjoyed!(-:
    P.S. Neon’s had the window controls on the door, that was just a PT thing. Only GT’s had the carbon fiber dash inserts, personally I prefer the body color ones, especially that electric blue looks great, my dad’s ‘05 base is that color with the inserts and it really pops.

The PT definitely handles more like a car than a real SUV or truck too, which makes sense based on the design. I figured you would know those little details too. Thanks!

      I'm honestly not sure! I know the Grand Caravan had lots of issues though.

    • @TheDrunkardHu
      @TheDrunkardHu 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@802Garage Mine has ONE issue, and it's that damned tranny. It has a safety, or "limp home mode" that limits you to second gear or less given certain situations... Not neutral, But a gear that will redline your engine if a failure occurs at freeway speeds. Head gasket failure levels of redline. AND it can go into this mode for a MYRIAD of reasons. Imagine cruising at 65 and suddenly dropping down to a gear that normally shifts at like 35 mph while in traffic. Terrifying.
      I had one client get stranded and I was dispatched to diagnose the problem with their 2000 Grand Caravan, so after hearing what the client said happened, I went to read the codes, knowing full well what had happened, but wanting to get some solid evidence, and there were NO TCM related codes to read!! So not only did the tranny decide that a condition was met that required a limp mode, but the TCM had no record of the occurrence! Blew the head gasket essentially totaling the vehicle and luckily no one was following them close enough to cause any collateral damage. And the only code pulled was a general misfire code 300...

    Unplug the middle solenoid on the left side of the engine bay near the engine mount, this will disable the blow off and its all turbo flutter, trust me on this, also they 2006 and higher GT came with 230hp to the wheels, and they have a lot of tuning potential due to the fact that it has a SRT4 engine, it is exactly the same with pushing 20psi of boost, and the auto trans are DSG trans which means you get those DSG noises, this was the "backfire" y'all heard.
