Superbe ! on ne peux s'empêcher de revoir Mickey qui se bat avec les balais et les sceaux remplis d'eau enchantés qu'il ne peux plus maîtriser jusqu'à que l'endroit
totalement inondé par les flots des sceaux qui se vident à grandes eaux ne réveille le maître magicien qui fin à tout çà , géniaux Paul Dukas et Walt Disney :o))

Le timbre des bassons est absolument envoutant quand ils sont plusieurs à l'unisson.. Et quand relancés par le contrebasson, ils s'y remettent et sont rejoints par les clarinettes dans le grave... On atteint le sublime.. Mais tout est fabuleux dans cette pièce. Merci vous êtes tous merveilleux, vraiment.

@@shin-i-chikozima Well, never experienced the full blossoming of cherry flowers, but had the chance to visit during Tsuki mi (that would be around these days I guess). So worth it as well! Indeed as you poetically say, all of these "Koyo" hues in the trees and on the floor are just... wonder for the eye. Take care!

@@shin-i-chikozima Yes I have: for 3 wonderful weeks in September/October 2010 I went to Tokyo, Kyoto area and Nikko: My brother in law lives in Tokyo. His wife is Japanese and both have a wonderful French-Japanese little girl. Because of this family link, Japan means something special to me. Although, even before I visited I was a fan of many things Japan: from Hiroshige Ukiyo-e to Kitano movies :). I enjoyed with the same wonder Kyoto's temples and shrines, Akihabara streets, Mountain landscape above Nikko and even music in train stations. All of these are probably cliché but were a deep experience for me!
My favourite piece of Classical Music.
This is the the most metal thing I've ever heard. Orchestra absolutely shreds it. Incredible.

By the way, the conductor's name is Christian Vásquez. Strange that this can only be found somewhere in the comments. He was 25 years old when the recording was made and he comes from Venezuela.

Bravo! Ever since I was a child when I first heard this program music from watching "Fantasia" (music conducted by the one and only Leopold Stokowsky, who shakes hands with Micky Mouse the apprentice to the sorcerer), I have been fascinated by this miniature masterpiece for the past 60 years or so (yes, sixty years!). This performance is the first one that I got to hear and "see" the musicians so close (thanks to the camera crew's skillful control and movement). In particular, I was struck by the musicians' ensemble playing and attention to the progression, timbre, tempi, balance of the various sections, to each other (yes, they listen to and enjoy, even sometimes smiling at each other in this terrific team effort), and, of course, to the conductor. The result is a wonder. I thank each one of the musicians in this performance. (By the way, I'm puzzled by those who "dislike" this performance. Please tell us why you "dislike" and what could the musicians have done better.)
I think this performance is unbeatable. Probably the dislikes are by those who were expecting the orchestra members to wear Micky Mouse hats.

A great thing to show my son, who is learning to play the bassoon. This piece (composed in 1897) is a classic. There's so much to love in 19th century music.
It is interesting that this work was first performed just the year after Debussy's Prelude l'apres Midi D'un Faune was first performed. But works are justly famous, but the Debussy work heralded the last gasp of the kind of romanticism represented by this piece. Afterwards, composers had a choice -- to stay within the romantic traditions fired off earlier (by Beethoven, really) or to embark in a whole new direction. Stravinsky virtually assured that the new direction would take root in the music of the future.

There have been comments about the flutist, flutists on here. The violinist I commented on, you can see her at 3:08. Wish I could meet her some day.Back to your knowing English. I am in the US. We would do well to start requiring another language or languages in school; starting early. It's a small world now.

Merci d'avoir affiché cette pièce musicale. De la grande musique, à la fois mélodique, expressive, complexe mais accessible. Trois grands artistes ont donné ses lettres de noblesse à l'Apprenti-sorcier : en 1797, Goethe, l'auteur de l'œuvre littéraire, Der Zauberlehrling, en 1897, Paul Dukas, traduisant l'œuvre de Goethe en un merveilleux scherzo symphonique et, en 1940, Walt Disney qui illustre dans Fantasia la musique de Dukas. My dad played this to me as a kid and told me the story, then played it again so I could tell HIM the story: you know when the axe splits the broom, how the water rises, and really feel what the apprentice earned at the end. Disney's Sorcerer really should've blasted that Mouse; it's been nothing but trouble (chopping up Marvel, DC, Star Wars... even the Joy Division logo) ever since.

This is the international theme of all LARP magicians. An endless source of inspiration when it comes to feel what mastering magic and casting spells would feel like. This piece always gives me inspiration to write magician characters. It does feel like the essence of magic, like if Dukas really did once experienced the fact of being a apprentice inside a mossy tower, trying to learn how the secrets of magic work, and trying to escape the control of his master to casts his first owns spells. Incredible.

This masterpiece made me listen to classical music!
Listening to this piece got me interested in classical music; and that was in 1966.
Nothing 'makes us listen to Classical Music.' We are drawn to it, as moths to a flame. Our soul is ignited by the beauty. And Dukas not a 'Classical Composer' rather, of the Impressionistic period. Let us all continue to enjoy the Good Stuff.

I believe that was Disney's idea when he cast Mickey Mouse as the.sorcerer's apprentice in the film 'Fantasia'.
