It was great to have you describe in detail your own process and what you look for. Thank you. I'm strongly drawn to reflections and shadows, in particular. I'm currently doing a self-imposed photography project intended to help me grow, become more creative, and to try things outside of my comfort zone.
Thanks Ian, that was really excellent. I really appreciated the dynamics you put into effect -he subject, light, moment and background. This is very useful for me. My approach is I see, I feel, I create. The subject must trigger something for me, I can be the light on the side of a building and waiting, it could be the light on a person who strikes me as interesting, observing people, feeling the moments about to happen and being ready. My settings are pretty basic: F8-11, depending on Thd quality of light ISO 800-1600 to give me my fast SS-1/250 or 500 sec for a candid expression. I zone focus to around 5 meters. For Portraits my settings are 100% manual - Aperture 2.8 up to f4 ISO and shutter speed to my taste. Thanks for a great video. Mike
I heard about your backstory from Fujifilm create seminar and how you got into photography. It really is inspiring to you know that you found something that brings you peace! I really enjoyed your approach to your style of photography also. Thanks for the advice in the video.
Thank you for this insight into how you think prior , during and after the image. Your calm approach is carried over from you r previous career and must be of great help when you are out on the street looking for images. I hope you are well at this time. Thanks once again
I really loved your explanations of the different photographs you took and your approach. If I might add that sometimes we get lucky and find some wonderful images in the middle ground too 😀. Cheers and take care
The "home base" part points to an ever present shortcoming of Fuji interface - lacking a quick way to return the parameter to your "default" settings. The custom profile function only does half the job. For the other half you have to do them manually, one by one. It's a hassle.
Hi Ian, Thank you very much for sharing your approach on street photography. I really relate to your vision. I learned a lot from this video and realized by looking at your wonderful photos that I still have a long way to go. But I hope, it will be an interesting one. As I’m waiting on my X100V, I hope the simplicity of the camera will help me further on this path. Lot’s of greetings, Dennis 🇳🇱
Ian's the best. I highly recommend his workshops!
This was an extremely short and powerful 'photographer crash course'. Very impressive descriptions and pictures! Thanks!
