    Alex, you could always charge for a repair attempt before even looking at the board, this way you get paid either way. If the issue is fixed, bill for the remining balance. As always fantastic work and you make it look so easy!

    Alex, for the Switch Lite fix, upon physical inspection I noticed that you might have missed the 150K resistor sitting right behind the daughterboard connector, which is next to the battery plug you've replaced. It's missing.

      That's unpopulated by default, you can tell by the color of the pads, if they're golden it's empty by default, if it's silver and pointy something has been removed by force, if it's silver and smooth it's either desoldered or empty by default but with solder pads, empty by default ones are usually too perfect to be mistaken with a desoldered component.

    I've done a few of those type C connectors on switches before, and they're not a beginner friendly job. The one thing I always do differently is not to put leaded/low melt solder on the back row of pins when removing the old connector. This way, I find that when they eventually melt, the hidden row will be close to melting too and I'm less likely to attempt to pull the connector up when 1 or 2 of the inner pads are still stuck and rip them as a result. But each to their own.

  • @rylar717
    @rylar717 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for explaining why you use lo-melt solder onto top of un-leaded solder - makes sense as you dont want to use hot air to damage components

      @Repair Wins You're already halfway there for being honest and trying to learn by looking at someone else. Many other repair guys would not even admit their mistakes, even to their own selves and open up any device, knowing full well that they will damage it. They will wreck the device further and still ask for money like ransom. I hate such losers. It makes good people look bad. In general, the idea that these people are essentially promoting is not very different from the likes of big name companies that promote replacement over repair, or deincentivise repair.
