Can you run the Samsung Magician app on your MacBook with this enclosure to see your Samsung SSD there and be able to update its firmware via the app?

I don't think you can because the SSD is being formatted as a removeable storage instead of how its formatted when its on your motherboard.

    Conclusions lack logic:
    1) fan isn't attached to the drive or its cooler, so it's hard to believe it'll do a lot in dissipating heat from the drive and from the M2 chipset/controller on that board.
    2) other enclosures u've tested were hot not because they suck, but because they act as cooler and conduct heat really well from the drive to the surface. That's why metal conducts heat very well compared to the plasticky "glass" window here which maybe cool but does almost zero in terms of cooling ur drive down.

      1) fan doesn’t need to be attached to the drive itself 🙄 heat is still being generated, so the fan pushes it out keeping the whole thing cooler. It might not have much affect on the M2 chipset, but the overall enclosure doesn’t trap so much heat, so the fan helps.
      2) the point of me saying it was too hot was because when you’re using it as a portable drive, you’re going to touch it while in use, whether to move it, or to pick it up and put it away. Other enclosures can feel like they burn you. And no where did I say the see through “plasticky” thing does anything for cooling. I like the aesthetics of being able to see the internals, which to me is cool 😎
      Conclusion; I lack logic :)

      @@FIREWOLFUNBOX man to be fair:
      1) u just tested it in couple of Samsung SSD tests, test it with real deal - working in Premier Pro / Davinci Resolve using 4k footage or copy-pasting fair amount of GBs to the drive. It's possible the drive temps will hit 90 degrees C bar.
And 2) speaking of cooler, in my opinion, best case scenario it compensates for the front panel to be of aesthetics rather than real heat dissipation thing (it's possible it actually dissipates something via IR rays which doesn't contribute to anything significantly and more scientifically :D)

      1) fair enough, I'll include large file transfers in future videos.
      2) Between an enclosure that has a built-in fan vs no fan, I personally would still choose the one with the fan. I also like being able to see through the enclosure :)

Yeah, I agree. Fan is better, see through is cool aesthetics however choosing between better temperatures vs better looking, my personal preference would be 1st. (like Acasis (tbu405pro with cooler) or Graugear USB 4.0) though they don't look so cool and probably weigh a lot more they would accommodate any M2 device perfectly :)

I don't recommend using Samsung 970 evo plus PCIe 3.0 for portable data storage, its transfer speed is bottleneck and waste of money. Just use nvme m.2 sata SSD for usb transfer port

man this product is rubbish, because has plastic on the top lead it should be metal to help with the heat.
