I hope the emulator works out for you. I had my fair share of disks and disk drives back in the 1980s and 1990s and while they still are a risky gamble to store your data, I would not be surprised if my old disks for my Apple ][+ STILL work. ALL of them! Cheers! :)
Thanks and to be fair the older branded discs i.e. 3M etc are quality and probs still ok but the majority of the stuff I had was just trash and found it hard getting decent blanks for a sensible price.
You got a nice set up I used to have tons of music vintage gear But over the years the price went up so I sold them I now only use an MPC that’s all I need Got an iPad and loads of app synthesis so I can sample Any sound Good video I think mate
Honestly, it's been such a game changer and as much as I love the old discs it's just not that viable any more considering reliability and cost. I cut a load of the video out but basically creating image files off my EPS discs now and that will be the next machine to get the treatment albeit on that one it's a bit of a pain as the EPS relies on a boot disc to load the OS and also certain functions which just makes it annoying.. Once you have loaded the OS, loaded some sounds you then need the OS disc again to perform certain functions unless you have the flash ROM or what ever it was.
They sell a Rackmounted ZuluScsi that lets you have the benefits of modern tech, while allowing you to maintain the original condition. I used an internal ZuluScsi, which is less space ands wires, but I had to commit to the SD Card, so scsi CD drives and such are out of the picture. With Chicken systems translator, it’s not that big a price to pay
Tell you one thing though, I used to look at a floppy and know ruffly what was on it a bit like looking at a vinyl sleeve. Now I have that many bloody images on my sd card I cant remember whats what from a short file name. Its not all plain sailing ha !
Oh yea for sure, as I say I love the old discs and that was one big reason for sticking with it for so long but the constant recent discs getting corrupted just meant spending more time backing stuff up \ recovering or worrying about loosing tracks. At least you can name them vs the older emulators that only had a numerical LCD. It's a compromise but a ok one to be fair
The best way i know to keep it organised....put the sd/usb in your pc. copy an image, name it then add back to the gotek and reformat it. Now if you need more than one disk for the project or whatever, just clone it in the gotek (easiest to do when u have an encoder on the gotek)..so you have filename-000, filename-001 etc.. Now when you put it back in the pc to back up, it'll be a lot easier to manage
hi there, i ve got an akai cd3000xl, do you have any idea if i can do some scsi to usb to open my sample libray in ISO images or something similar to that? cheers
How did you get the os4 to Autoboot? , I've renamed os4 to Autoboot. HFE but still doesn't automatically load the os, have to select disk enter etc, right ball ache!
No idea why people hate on the 3000XL I'd personally get that, it's a better sampler. The 2800 was my first Akai years ago, decent sampler (S3000 with some options removed) and I like the delay effect but the XL is much more useful.
AudioPilz did a great ‘bad gear’ overview on the Roland PMA-5 pocket composer! And you are masterfully using it
Well done!!! I suggest noting down on paper a numbered list of what's inside each virtual floppy, for easy recall
Came back and very glad you are still doing music! Cheers!
Thanks! You still got your 2000XL?
@@vinyljunkie07 Yes but ive been on a hiatus obviously with music but going to get back in and creating again!
Sounds chill 😍
You'll never look back!
Totally, looking to do the EPS now
What a groove 😃♥️ You really loves music 💯⚡
Love the tune at the end, quality!
Same!
are you doing ok mate you seem anxious unlike other videos

you rock that roland PM like a champion
Agreed! Love the emulator in my s950

@@vinyljunkie07 and you can backup everything on the computer while not loosing the workflow. Did that too here 😏
@@vinyljunkie07hi how would you transfer s900 floppies to save onto the gotek drive ?
I got scsi hard disk for my ASR10, turned out well.
Cool to see the roland PM in the beginning haha
Thanks! Wish my EPS16+ had the SCSI option fitted but it is what it is. It's mad how the price has rocketed on pretty much every hardware sampler
Yea for real, I traded a roland sh2 for the ASR-10 back in 2018 and I thought it was the best trade ever haha. Who needs a monosynth?

You don’t age and thank you for teaching me about scsi all them years ago
I've been watching your videos for years. Do you have any music released? Great tracks!
I'm jelly of your s900. I put Goteks in my s3000XL's and s2000's. Never looked back.

Yeah, but does it replicate the sound of ORIGINAL HARD HOUSE?

Is it easy to set up a Gotek for S900?
Would I need to configure the drive before installing into my sampler?
Thanks!
Martin, my S2800 doesn’t have SCSI, if I were you should I try and buy a scsi card? Hard to find and expensive or just sell and buy a 3000xl ?
