genesis bustamante I analysed this poem during my GCSEs as well. I assume it’s not just this poem, but an anthology of all different poems. That’s what I did at least.
@Ryan Akwar FYI I have watched Sopranos. I think it’s a great show even though the later seasons went down the hill. But comparing it to breaking bad is not only disrespectful but very insulting to an objective viewer.
Breaking Bad can only take in place in the following countries: Bangladesh, Burundi, Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Nigeria, Paraguay, United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Uganda, United States of America, Yemen Those are the only countries with non-universal healthcare lol 🤣
Oh for the love of God have you seen the show? Walter didn't cook meth because he needed the money. It was an ego thing. He did do it because he was fucked over before and wanted to proof something.
The funny thing about Ozymandias is, the poem is about Ramesses II of the Nineteenth Dynasty, the greatest king of the New Kingdom of Egypt. Said kingdom is called that because it emerged from the ruins of the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, which itself emerged from the ruins of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. For Ramesses himself, the Great Pyramid of Giza was almost just as ancient as his "works" are to us. Also, Percy Shelley decided to write a poem based on a random classical text, eventually settling on an excerpt from Roman-era Greek historian Diodorus Siculus' book Bibliotheca historica, in which Diodorus describes the ruins of a monument presumably built by Ramesses, whom the Greeks knew as Ozymandias. So there's that whole other ancient civilisation, who themselves regarded the Egyptians as an ancient culture with a long-forgotten history, and which our Regency-era British poet regarded as high culture by their antiquity alone and worth emulating.
In a similar vein, I would like to state that Cleopatra was born closer to our time than she was to the building of the pyramids. People underestimate how old Egyptian Civilisation is. Also, the Romantics in general were obsessed by the past and frequently glorified it.
You have no idea how good this video is. As good as Bryan voice, as good as Ozymandias episode, as good as Breaking Bad show, as good as the peom itself, as good as Ramsses works. Congratulations.

@@mar__k Basically Ozymandias is the Greek name for Ramses II of Egypt who was at one point the most powerful and revered Pharaoh of Egypt's history. Despite this, his massive Empire eventually fell and so did his statue which esssentially says "I am Ramses II, the king of kings, if anyone wants to know how great I am let him try and surpass any of my works". I watched the entire series as it was being aired on tv. I remember the night I watched this episode. We were on holiday overseas and it was 11pm on a Saturday night and everyone else was out partying, but here we were... in our hotel room, setting up the laptop so we could watch the episode as soon as it came out. When we finished it we were too choked with emotion to leave the hotel that night.
I had to do this poem for essentially a look into the underlying meaning and thesis. I can see how this perfectly relates to the end of breaking bad because like the poem, even though Bryan Cranston becomes the biggest meth distributor by far, he is left with nothing in the end. Like Ozymandias whose accomplishments mean nothing because he is dead and history will roll over his name as evidence of the endless sands surrounding the broken statue.
@@cowlupin6693 technically Walt didn't become a legend either,he's only a legend in the sense a fictional character can become a legend in our universe,in the world of Breaking Bad,Walt will soon be forgotten
Cow Lupin the point of the poem is that even if he was a legend briefly, he is forgotten and his power is eventually taken away by time, making his power fleeting and ultimately pointless
@@govardhanposina17 He will still be significant in the universe where he was. He was litterally the best meth producer. In his universe he would litterally be more famous than Pablo Escobar. He will still be forgotten. But if he had simply done nothing, he would have been forgotten way faster.
This edit is perfection!! I got chills - it captures Walt's personality so perfectly. 'Look on his works ye mighty and despair' was particularly masterful. I will be rewatching this a bunch, 10/10.
It captures Walt’s fall. All that was left of Ozymandias’s kingdom was that pedestal in the desert. The rest turned to dust. That pedestal might as well have been one barrel of cash, and the ruined kingdom his family, his business, and his best friend.
The episode where the established family finally fully collapsed. Skyler - who lost Holly. Flynn/Walter Jr. - who finally saw what his father had become. Jesse - who became a undead slave. Marie - who lost Hank. Hank - who died Walt - who accepted his fate.

This episode could be named Aussiemandias
This is where i began to see clearly that Gus Fring is so important for the drug empire and this is the consequences when walt kills him and their entire clan. TBH Gus Fring isnt totally a villain he just runs the drug bussiness properly
"Look on my works, ye mighty and despair" - cuts to Jesse, Skylar and Marie collapsing in despair because of what Walt has done. Sums up the result of his work brilliantly.
This is beautiful. This episode was a masterpiece.
"The name is ASAC Shrader.....can you say ASAC?.....AYYYYYYEEEEE-SACK"
bruh
The same guy who directed this directed The Last Jedi...Jesus...
And Knives Out
He's a great director but a poor writer.
You can never match, congratulations. The best serious of all time.
Years go by and Breaking Bad's Ozymandias is still my favorite episode of any series, being the best I've seen so far, and I've seen many other great series like The Sopranos, Better Call Saul, The Wire, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Game of Thrones, Bojack Horseman and many others that also have brilliant chapters but none that made me feel the same sensation that Ozymandias caused me.
Beautiful. Beautiful storytelling and so ad-hoc poem - episode. Loved it.
0:51 me when I'm the impstor and I'm sus
It's like the episode itself is talking to me. The only episode to have 10/10 score on IMDb, truly the King of Kings.
my english class watched this when we were learning about this poem.

0:50 when mom takes the ps2
0:50 me when roblox gf quits roblox
That's what I call great editing. Should Vince Gilligan ever watch this, he might just add it to his portfolio.
Hi Sadist fans also the thumping sounds are so sinister i love it
Great editing. Very nice work my friend... wow...
I can’t believe I was only 15 when this masterpiece came out. I’m 21 now
Excellent work!
Thank you!
Mr Walrat im high xDdddd
This was the single best episode of any TV show I have ever seen. I felt like I was strapped to the front of a train.
My 10th grade English teacher showed us a video of ozymandias being narrated by Bryan Cranston and I'm definitely glad he did since at the time I got really into the show
That was perfect. Thank you!!! I have watched it 7 times and counting. :)
Single greatest episode of tv ever made and that I’ve ever seen. There’s just nothing wrong with this, everyone was on their A Game and when I say everyone, I don’t just mean the actors, I mean *everyone*
Moral of the poem : Do not get too big for your boots.
It's all fun and games until you're revising power and conflict poetry and find out about this huge revelation.
The best 47 minutes of your life. Wow.
